2020-02-25blktrace: Protect q->blk_trace with RCUJan Kara
KASAN is reporting that __blk_add_trace() has a use-after-free issue when accessing q->blk_trace. Indeed the switching of block tracing (and thus eventual freeing of q->blk_trace) is completely unsynchronized with the currently running tracing and thus it can happen that the blk_trace structure is being freed just while __blk_add_trace() works on it. Protect accesses to q->blk_trace by RCU during tracing and make sure we wait for the end of RCU grace period when shutting down tracing. Luckily that is rare enough event that we can afford that. Note that postponing the freeing of blk_trace to an RCU callback should better be avoided as it could have unexpected user visible side-effects as debugfs files would be still existing for a short while block tracing has been shut down. 2020-02-24bpf: Provide recursion prevention helpersThomas Gleixner
The places which need to prevent the execution of trace type BPF programs to prevent deadlocks on the hash bucket lock do this open coded. Provide two inline functions, bpf_disable/enable_instrumentation() to replace these open coded protection constructs. Use migrate_disable/enable() instead of preempt_disable/enable() right away so this works on RT enabled kernels. On a !RT kernel migrate_disable / enable() are mapped to preempt_disable/enable(). These helpers use this_cpu_inc/dec() instead of __this_cpu_inc/dec() on an RT enabled kernel because migrate disabled regions are preemptible and preemption might hit in the middle of a RMW operation which can lead to inconsistent state. All of these cases are strictly of the form: preempt_disable(); BPF_PROG_RUN(...); preempt_enable(); Replace this with bpf_prog_run_pin_on_cpu() which wraps BPF_PROG_RUN() with: migrate_disable(); BPF_PROG_RUN(...); migrate_enable(); On non RT enabled kernels this maps to preempt_disable/enable() and on RT enabled kernels this solely prevents migration, which is sufficient as there is no requirement to prevent reentrancy to any BPF program from a preempting task. The only requirement is that the program stays on the same CPU. Therefore, this is a trivially correct transformation. The seccomp loop does not need protection over the loop. As already discussed in the previous change which introduced BPF_RUN_PROG_PIN_ON_CPU() BPF only requires to disable migration to guarantee per CPUness. If RT substitutes the preempt disable based migration protection then the cant_sleep() check will obviously trigger as preemption is not disabled. Replace it by cant_migrate() which maps to cant_sleep() on a non RT kernel and will verify that migration is disabled on a full RT kernel. 2020-02-24bpf: Provide bpf_prog_run_pin_on_cpu() helperThomas Gleixner
BPF programs require to run on one CPU to completion as they use per CPU storage, but according to Alexei they don't need reentrancy protection as obviously BPF programs running in thread context can always be 'preempted' by hard and soft interrupts and instrumentation and the same program can run concurrently on a different CPU. The currently used mechanism to ensure CPUness is to wrap the invocation into a preempt_disable/enable() pair. Disabling preemption is also disabling migration for a task. preempt_disable/enable() is used because there is no explicit way to reliably disable only migration. Provide a separate macro to invoke a BPF program which can be used in migrateable task context. It wraps BPF_PROG_RUN() in a migrate_disable/enable() pair which maps on non RT enabled kernels to preempt_disable/enable(). On RT enabled kernels this merely disables migration. Both methods ensure that the invoked BPF program runs on one CPU to completion. 2020-02-24mdio_bus: Add generic mdio_find_bus()Jeremy Linton
It appears most ethernet drivers follow one of two main strategies for mdio bus/phy management. A monolithic model where the net driver itself creates, probes and uses the phy, and one where an external mdio/phy driver instantiates the mdio bus/phy and the net driver only attaches to a known phy. Usually in this latter model the phys are discovered via DT relationships or simply phy name/address hardcoding. This is a shame because modern well behaved mdio buses are self describing and can be probed. The mdio layer itself is fully capable of this, yet there isn't a clean way for a standalone net driver to attach and enumerate the discovered devices. This is because outside of of_mdio_find_bus() there isn't a straightforward way to acquire the mii_bus pointer. So, lets add a mdio_find_bus which can return the mii_bus based only on its name. ASoC component open/close and snd_soc_component_module_get/put are called independently for each component-substream pair, so the logic added in commit dd03907bf129 ("ASoC: soc-pcm: call snd_soc_component_open/close() once") was not sufficient and led to PCM playback and module unload errors. Implement handling of failures directly in soc_pcm_components_open(), so that any successfully opened components are closed upon error with other components. This allows to clean up error handling in soc_pcm_open() without adding more state tracking. 2020-02-24net: Special handling for IP & MPLS.Martin Varghese
Special handling is needed in bareudp module for IP & MPLS as they support more than one ethertypes. MPLS has 2 ethertypes. 0x8847 for MPLS unicast and 0x8848 for MPLS multicast. While decapsulating MPLS packet from UDP packet the tunnel destination IP address is checked to determine the ethertype. The ethertype of the packet will be set to 0x8848 if the tunnel destination IP address is a multicast IP address. The ethertype of the packet will be set to 0x8847 if the tunnel destination IP address is a unicast IP address. IP has 2 ethertypes.0x0800 for IPV4 and 0x86dd for IPv6. The version field of the IP header tunnelled will be checked to determine the ethertype. This special handling to tunnel additional ethertypes will be disabled by default and can be enabled using a flag called multiproto. This flag can be used only with ethertypes 0x8847 and 0x0800. To avoid this issue, this patch adds each missing paired function dapm_widget_list_free() for dapm_widget_list_create() (B), and snd_soc_dapm_dai_free_widgets() for snd_soc_dapm_dai_get_connected_widgets() (C). 2020-02-24proc: Use a list of inodes to flush from procEric W. Biederman
Rework the flushing of proc to use a list of directory inodes that need to be flushed. The list is kept on struct pid not on struct task_struct, as there is a fixed connection between proc inodes and pids but at least for the case of de_thread the pid of a task_struct changes. This removes the dependency on proc_mnt which allows for different mounts of proc having different mount options even in the same pid namespace and this allows for the removal of proc_mnt which will trivially the first mount of proc to honor it's mount options. This flushing remains an optimization. The functions pid_delete_dentry and pid_revalidate ensure that ordinary dcache management will not attempt to use dentries past the point their respective task has died. When unused the shrinker will eventually be able to remove these dentries. There is a case in de_thread where proc_flush_pid can be called early for a given pid. Which winds up being safe (if suboptimal) as this is just an optiimization. Only pid directories are put on the list as the other per pid files are children of those directories and d_invalidate on the directory will get them as well. So that the pid can be used during flushing it's reference count is taken in release_task and dropped in proc_flush_pid. Further the call of proc_flush_pid is moved after the tasklist_lock is released in release_task so that it is certain that the pid has already been unhashed when flushing it taking place. This removes a small race where a dentry could recreated. As struct pid is supposed to be small and I need a per pid lock I reuse the only lock that currently exists in struct pid the the wait_pidfd.lock. The net result is that this adds all of this functionality with just a little extra list management overhead and a single extra pointer in struct pid. v2: Initialize pid->inodes. I somehow failed to get that initialization into the initial version of the patch. A boot failure was reported by "kernel test robot <lkp@intel.com>", and failure to initialize that pid->inodes matches all of the reported symptoms. Signed-off-by: Eric W. 2020-02-24media: atmel: atmel-isc-base: expose white balance as v4l2 controlsEugen Hristev
This exposes the white balance configuration of the ISC as v4l2 controls into userspace. There are 8 controls available: 4 gain controls, sliders, for each of the BAYER components: R, B, GR, GB. These gains are multipliers for each component, in format unsigned 0:4:9 with a default value of 512 (1.0 multiplier). 4 offset controls, sliders, for each of the BAYER components: R, B, GR, GB. These offsets are added/substracted from each component, in format signed 1:12:0 with a default value of 0 (+/- 0) To expose this to userspace, added 8 custom controls, in an auto cluster. To summarize the functionality: The auto cluster switch is the auto white balance control, and it works like this: AWB == 1: autowhitebalance is on, the do_white_balance button is inactive, the gains/offsets are inactive, but volatile and readable. Thus, the results of the whitebalance algorithm are available to userspace to read at any time. AWB == 0: autowhitebalance is off, cluster is in manual mode, user can configure the gain/offsets directly. More than that, if the do_white_balance button is pressed, the driver will perform one-time-adjustment, (preferably with color checker card) and the userspace can read again the new values. With this feature, the userspace can save the coefficients and reinstall them for example after reboot or reprobing the driver. Make some changes to the TID-config API: * use u16 in nl80211 (only, and restrict to using 8 bits for now), to avoid issues in the future if we ever want to use higher TIDs. * reject empty TIDs mask (via netlink policy) * change feature advertising to not use extended feature flags but have own mechanism for this, which simplifies the code * fix all variable names from 'tid' to 'tids' since it's a mask * change to cfg80211_ name prefixes, not ieee80211_ * fix some minor docs/spelling things. 2020-02-24sched/pelt: Add a new runnable average signalVincent Guittot
Now that runnable_load_avg has been removed, we can replace it by a new signal that will highlight the runnable pressure on a cfs_rq. This signal track the waiting time of tasks on rq and can help to better define the state of rqs. At now, only util_avg is used to define the state of a rq: A rq with more that around 80% of utilization and more than 1 tasks is considered as overloaded. But the util_avg signal of a rq can become temporaly low after that a task migrated onto another rq which can bias the classification of the rq. When tasks compete for the same rq, their runnable average signal will be higher than util_avg as it will include the waiting time and we can use this signal to better classify cfs_rqs. The new runnable_avg will track the runnable time of a task which simply adds the waiting time to the running time. The runnable _avg of cfs_rq will be the /Sum of se's runnable_avg and the runnable_avg of group entity will follow the one of the rq similarly to util_avg. The PCIe endpoint core relies on the drivers that invoke the pci_epc_add_epf() API to allocate and assign a function number to each physical function (PF). Since endpoint function device can be created by multiple mechanisms (configfs, devicetree, etc..), allowing each of these mechanisms to assign a function number would result in mutliple endpoint function devices having the same function number. In order to avoid this, let EPC core assign a function number to the endpoint device. pci-epc-mem uses a bitmap to manage the Endpoint outbound (OB) address region. This address region will be shared by multiple endpoint functions (in the case of multi function endpoint) and it has to be protected from concurrent access to avoid updating an inconsistent state. Use a mutex to protect bitmap updates to prevent the memory allocation API from returning incorrect addresses. IEEE P802.11-REVmd/D3.0 adds support for protecting Beacon frames using a new set of keys (BIGTK; key index 6..7) similarly to the way group-addressed Robust Management frames are protected (IGTK; key index 4..5). Extend cfg80211 and nl80211 to allow the new BIGTK to be configured. Add an extended feature flag to indicate driver support for the new key index values to avoid array overflows in driver implementations and also to indicate to user space when this functionality is available.
