USB Raw Gadget is a kernel module that provides a userspace interface for
the USB Gadget subsystem. Essentially it allows to emulate USB devices
from userspace. Enabled with CONFIG_USB_RAW_GADGET. Raw Gadget is
currently a strictly debugging feature and shouldn't be used in
production.
Raw Gadget is similar to GadgetFS, but provides a more low-level and
direct access to the USB Gadget layer for the userspace. The key
differences are:
1. Every USB request is passed to the userspace to get a response, while
GadgetFS responds to some USB requests internally based on the provided
descriptors. However note, that the UDC driver might respond to some
requests on its own and never forward them to the Gadget layer.
2. GadgetFS performs some sanity checks on the provided USB descriptors,
while Raw Gadget allows you to provide arbitrary data as responses to
USB requests.
3. Raw Gadget provides a way to select a UDC device/driver to bind to,
while GadgetFS currently binds to the first available UDC.
4. Raw Gadget uses predictable endpoint names (handles) across different
UDCs (as long as UDCs have enough endpoints of each required transfer
type).
5. Raw Gadget has ioctl-based interface instead of a filesystem-based one.

Fix the handling of signals in client rxrpc calls made by the afs
filesystem. Ignore signals completely, leaving call abandonment or
connection loss to be detected by timeouts inside AF_RXRPC.
Allowing a filesystem call to be interrupted after the entire request has
been transmitted and an abort sent means that the server may or may not
have done the action - and we don't know. It may even be worse than that
for older servers.

Fix a couple of tracelines to indicate the usage count after the atomic op,
not the usage count before it to be consistent with other afs and rxrpc
trace lines.
Change the wording of the afs_call_trace_work trace ID label from "WORK" to
"QUEUE" to reflect the fact that it's queueing work, not doing work.

Fix the interruptibility of kernel-initiated client calls so that they're
either only interruptible when they're waiting for a call slot to come
available or they're not interruptible at all. Either way, they're not
interruptible during transmission.
This should help prevent StoreData calls from being interrupted when
writeback is in progress. It doesn't, however, handle interruption during
the receive phase.
Userspace-initiated calls are still interruptable. After the signal has
been handled, sendmsg() will return the amount of data copied out of the
buffer and userspace can perform another sendmsg() call to continue
transmission.

Commit 6825d3ea6cde ("iommu/vt-d: Add debugfs support to show register
contents") dumps the register contents for all IOMMU devices.
Currently, a 64 bit read(dmar_readq) is done for all the IOMMU registers,
even though some of the registers are 32 bits, which is incorrect.
Use the correct read function variant (dmar_readl/dmar_readq) while
reading the contents of 32/64 bit registers respectively.

DisplayPort specifications are fun. For a while, it's been really
unclear to us what available_pbn actually does. There's a somewhat vague
explanation in the DisplayPort spec (starting from 1.2) that partially
explains it:
The minimum payload bandwidth number supported by the path. Each node
updates this number with its available payload bandwidth number if its
payload bandwidth number is less than that in the Message Transaction
reply.
So, it sounds like available_pbn represents the smallest link rate in
use between the source and the branch device. Cool, so full_pbn is just
the highest possible PBN that the branch device supports right?
Well, we assumed that for quite a while until Sean Paul noticed that on
some MST hubs, available_pbn will actually get set to 0 whenever there's
any active payloads on the respective branch device. This caused quite a
bit of confusion since clearing the payload ID table would end up fixing
the available_pbn value.
So, we just went with that until commit cd82d82cbc04 ("drm/dp_mst: Add
branch bandwidth validation to MST atomic check") started breaking
people's setups due to us getting erroneous available_pbn values. So, we
did some more digging and got confused until we finally looked at the
definition for full_pbn:
The bandwidth of the link at the trained link rate and lane count
between the DP Source device and the DP Sink device with no time slots
allocated to VC Payloads, represented as a Payload Bandwidth Number. As
with the Available_Payload_Bandwidth_Number, this number is determined
by the link with the lowest lane count and link rate.
That's what we get for not reading specs closely enough, hehe. So, since
full_pbn is definitely what we want for doing bandwidth restriction
checks - let's start using that instead and ignore available_pbn
entirely.

So far we have the unfortunate situation that mdio_bus_phy_may_suspend()
is called in suspend AND resume path, assuming that function result is
the same. After the original change this is no longer the case,
resulting in broken resume as reported by Geert.
To fix this call mdio_bus_phy_may_suspend() in the suspend path only,
and let the phy_device store the info whether it was suspended by
MDIO bus PM.

Commit f7b4b54e6364 ("[media] tvp5150: add HW input connectors support")
added input signals support for the tvp5150, but the approach was found
to be incorrect so the corresponding DT binding commit 82c2ffeb217a
("[media] tvp5150: document input connectors DT bindings") was reverted.
This left the driver with an undocumented (and wrong) DT parsing logic,
so lets get rid of this code as well until the input connectors support
is implemented properly.
It's a partial revert due other patches added on top of mentioned commit
not allowing the commit to be reverted cleanly anymore. But all the code
related to the DT parsing logic and input entities creation are removed.

The patch adds the initial connector parsing code, so we can move from a
driver specific parsing code to a generic one. Currently only the
generic fields and the analog-connector specific fields are parsed. Parsing
the other connector specific fields can be added by a simple callbacks.

Currently every driver needs to parse the connector endpoints by it self.
This is the initial work to make this generic. A generic connector has
common members and connector specific members. The common members are:
- type
- label (optional)
- links
- nr_of_links
The specific members are stored within a union, since only one of them
can be available at the time. Since this is the initial support the
patch adds only the analog-connector specific ones.

A link is between two endpoints not between two ports to be more
precise. Add the local_id/remote_id field which stores the endpoint
reg/port property to the link. Now the link holds all necessary
information about a link.

Commit b72053072c0b ("block: allow partitions on host aware zone
devices") introduced the helper function disk_has_partitions() to check
if a given disk has valid partitions. However, since this function result
directly depends on the disk partition table length rather than the
actual existence of valid partitions in the table, it returns true even
after all partitions are removed from the disk. For host aware zoned
block devices, this results in zone management support to be kept
disabled even after removing all partitions.
Fix this by changing disk_has_partitions() to walk through the partition
table entries and return true if and only if a valid non-zero size
partition is found.

The kernel documentation includes a brief section about genhd
capabilities, but it turns out that the only documented
capability (GENHD_FL_MEDIA_CHANGE_NOTIFY) isn't used any more.
This patch removes that flag, and documents the rest, based on my
understanding of the current uses of these flags in the kernel. The
documentation is kept in the header file, alongside the declarations,
in the hope that it will be kept up-to-date in future; the kernel
documentation is changed to include the documentation generated from
the header file.
Because the ultimate goal is to provide some end-user
documentation (or end-administrator documentation), the comments are
perhaps more user-oriented than might be expected. Since the values
are shown to users in hexadecimal, the documentation lists them in
hexadecimal, and the constant declarations are adjusted to match.

There is a potential race between ioc_release_fn() and
ioc_clear_queue() as shown below, due to which below kernel
crash is observed. It also can result into use-after-free
issue.

Fix this by adding a new ICQ_DESTROYED flag in ioc_destroy_icq() to
indicate this icq is once marked as destroyed. Also, ensure
__ioc_clear_queue() is accessing icq within rcu_read_lock/unlock so
that icq doesn't get free'd up while it is still using it.

There are many protocols that encode more than 32 bit. We want 64 bit
support so that BPF IR decoders can decode more than 32 bit. None of
the existing kernel IR decoders/encoders support 64 bit, for now.
The MSC_SCAN event can only contain 32 bit scancodes, so we only generate
MSC_SCAN events if the scancode fits into 32 bits. The full 64 bit
scancode can be read from the lirc chardev.

The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has recently assigned
a protocol number value of 143 for Ethernet [1].
Before this assignment, encapsulation mechanisms such as Segment Routing
used the IPv6-NoNxt protocol number (59) to indicate that the encapsulated
payload is an Ethernet frame.
In this patch, we add the definition of the Ethernet protocol number to the
kernel headers and update the SRv6 L2 tunnels to use it.

This does three inter-related things to clarify the usage of the
platform device dma_mask field. In the process, fix the bug introduced
by cdfee5623290 ("driver core: initialize a default DMA mask for
platform device") that caused Artem Tashkinov's laptop to not boot with
newer Fedora kernels.
This does:
- First off, rename the field to "platform_dma_mask" to make it
greppable.
We have way too many different random fields called "dma_mask" in
various data structures, where some of them are actual masks, and
some of them are just pointers to the mask. And the structures all
have pointers to each other, or embed each other inside themselves,
and "pdev" sometimes means "platform device" and sometimes it means
"PCI device".
So to make it clear in the code when you actually use this new field,
give it a unique name (it really should be something even more unique
like "platform_device_dma_mask", since it's per platform device, not
per platform, but that gets old really fast, and this is unique
enough in context).
To further clarify when the field gets used, initialize it when we
actually start using it with the default value.
- Then, use this field instead of the random one-off allocation in
platform_device_register_full() that is now unnecessary since we now
already have a perfectly fine allocation for it in the platform
device structure.
- The above then allows us to fix the actual bug, where the error path
of platform_device_register_full() would unconditionally free the
platform device DMA allocation with 'kfree()'.
That kfree() was dont regardless of whether the allocation had been
done earlier with the (now removed) kmalloc, or whether
setup_pdev_dma_masks() had already been used and the dma_mask pointer
pointed to the mask that was part of the platform device.
It seems most people never triggered the error path, or only triggered
it from a call chain that set an explicit pdevinfo->dma_mask value (and
thus caused the unnecessary allocation that was "cleaned up" in the
error path) before calling platform_device_register_full().
Robin Murphy points out that in Artem's case the wdat_wdt driver failed
in platform_device_add(), and that was the one that had called
platform_device_register_full() with pdevinfo.dma_mask = 0, and would
have caused that kfree() of pdev.dma_mask corrupting the heap.
A later unrelated kmalloc() then oopsed due to the heap corruption.

It has turned out that some host controllers can't use R1B for CMD6 and
other commands that have R1B associated with them. Therefore invent a new
host cap, MMC_CAP_NEED_RSP_BUSY to let them specify this.
In __mmc_switch(), let's check the flag and use it to prevent R1B responses
from being converted into R1. Note that, this also means that the host are
on its own, when it comes to manage the busy timeout.

We have IORING_OP_PROVIDE_BUFFERS, but the only way to remove buffers
is to trigger IO on them. The usual case of shrinking a buffer pool
would be to just not replenish the buffers when IO completes, and
instead just free it. But it may be nice to have a way to manually
remove a number of buffers from a given group, and
IORING_OP_REMOVE_BUFFERS provides that functionality.

This splits it into two parts, one that imports the message, and one
that imports the iovec. This allows a caller to only do the first part,
and import the iovec manually afterwards.
No functional changes in this patch.

If a server process has tons of pending socket connections, generally
it uses epoll to wait for activity. When the socket is ready for reading
(or writing), the task can select a buffer and issue a recv/send on the
given fd.
Now that we have fast (non-async thread) support, a task can have tons
of pending reads or writes pending. But that means they need buffers to
back that data, and if the number of connections is high enough, having
them preallocated for all possible connections is unfeasible.
With IORING_OP_PROVIDE_BUFFERS, an application can register buffers to
use for any request. The request then sets IOSQE_BUFFER_SELECT in the
sqe, and a given group ID in sqe->buf_group. When the fd becomes ready,
a free buffer from the specified group is selected. If none are
available, the request is terminated with -ENOBUFS. If successful, the
CQE on completion will contain the buffer ID chosen in the cqe->flags
member, encoded as:
(buffer_id << IORING_CQE_BUFFER_SHIFT) | IORING_CQE_F_BUFFER;
Once a buffer has been consumed by a request, it is no longer available
and must be registered again with IORING_OP_PROVIDE_BUFFERS.
Requests need to support this feature. For now, IORING_OP_READ and
IORING_OP_RECV support it. This is checked on SQE submission, a CQE with
res == -EOPNOTSUPP will be posted if attempted on unsupported requests.

IORING_OP_PROVIDE_BUFFERS uses the buffer registration infrastructure to
support passing in an addr/len that is associated with a buffer ID and
buffer group ID. The group ID is used to index and lookup the buffers,
while the buffer ID can be used to notify the application which buffer
in the group was used. The addr passed in is the starting buffer address,
and length is each buffer length. A number of buffers to add with can be
specified, in which case addr is incremented by length for each addition,
and each buffer increments the buffer ID specified.
No validation is done of the buffer ID. If the application provides
buffers within the same group with identical buffer IDs, then it'll have
a hard time telling which buffer ID was used. The only restriction is
that the buffer ID can be a max of 16-bits in size, so USHRT_MAX is the
maximum ID that can be used.

What the driver writes into MAC_MAXLEN_CFG does not actually represent
VLAN_ETH_FRAME_LEN but instead ETH_FRAME_LEN + ETH_FCS_LEN. Yes they are
numerically equal, but the difference is important, as the switch treats
VLAN-tagged traffic specially and knows to increase the maximum accepted
frame size automatically. So it is always wrong to account for VLAN in
the MAC_MAXLEN_CFG register.
Unconditionally increase the maximum allowed frame size for
double-tagged traffic. Accounting for the additional length does not
mean that the other VLAN membership checks aren't performed, so there's
no harm done.
Also, stop abusing the MTU name for configuring the MRU. There is no
support for configuring the MRU on an interface at the moment.

In commit 1ec17dbd90f8 ("inet_diag: fix reporting cgroup classid and
fallback to priority") croup classid reporting was fixed. But this works
only for TCP sockets because for other socket types icsk parameter can
be NULL and classid code path is skipped. This change moves classid
handling to inet_diag_msg_attrs_fill() function.
Also inet_diag_msg_attrs_size() helper was added and addends in
nlmsg_new() were reordered to save order from inet_sk_diag_fill().

Currently iio_debugfs_read_reg calls debugfs_reg_access
every time it is ran. Reading the same hardware register
multiple times during the same reading of a debugfs file
can cause unintended effects.
For example for each: cat iio:device0/direct_reg_access
the file_operations.read function will be called at least
twice. First will return the full length of the string in
bytes and the second will return 0.
This patch makes iio_debugfs_read_reg to call debugfs_reg_access
only when the user's buffer position (*ppos) is 0. (meaning
it is the beginning of a new reading of the debugfs file).

The 'state_lock' mutex was renamed from 'txrx_lock' in a previous patch and
is intended to be used by ADIS drivers to protect the state of devices
during consecutive R/W ops.
The initial patch that introduced this change did not do a good [well, any]
job at explaining this. This patch adds a comment to the 'state_lock'
better explaining it's use.

Each driver/chip that wants to validate it's product id, can now
specify a 'prod_id_reg' and an expected 'prod_id' value.
The 'prod_id' value is intentionally left 0 (uninitialized). There aren't
(yet) any product IDs with value 0; this enforces that both 'prod_id_reg'
and 'prod_id' are specified.
At the very least, this routine validates that the SPI connection to the
ADIS chip[s] works well.

This patch adds a dedicated self_test_reg variable. This is also a step
to let new drivers make use of `adis_initial_startup()`. Some devices
use MSG_CTRL reg to request a self_test command while others use the
GLOB_CMD register.
