2023-03-07wifi: mac80211: introduce ieee80211_refresh_tx_agg_session_timer()Ryder Lee
This allows low level drivers to refresh the tx agg session timer, based on querying stats from the firmware usually. Especially for some mt76 devices support .net_fill_forward_path would bypass mac80211, which leads to tx BA session timeout clients that set a timeout in their AddBA response to our request, even if our request is without a timeout. 2023-03-07wifi: mac80211: add support for driver adding radiotap TLVsMordechay Goodstein
The new TLV format enables adding TLVs after the fixed fields in radiotap, as part of the radiotap header. Support this and move vendor data to the TLV format, allowing a reuse of the RX_FLAG_RADIOTAP_VENDOR_DATA as the new RX_FLAG_RADIOTAP_TLV_AT_END flag. 2023-03-06clk: Mark a fwnode as initialized when using CLK_OF_DECLARE() macroSaravana Kannan
We already mark fwnodes as initialized when they are registered as clock providers. We do this so that fw_devlink can tell when a clock driver doesn't use the driver core framework to probe/initialize its device. This ensures fw_devlink doesn't block the consumers of such a clock provider indefinitely. However, some users of CLK_OF_DECLARE() macros don't use the same node that matches the macro as the node for the clock provider, but they initialize the entire node. To cover these cases, also mark the nodes that match the macros as initialized when the init callback function is called. An example of this is "stericsson,u8500-clks" that's handled using CLK_OF_DECLARE() and looks something like this: clocks { compatible = "stericsson,u8500-clks"; prcmu_clk: prcmu-clock { #clock-cells = <1>; }; prcc_pclk: prcc-periph-clock { #clock-cells = <2>; }; prcc_kclk: prcc-kernel-clock { #clock-cells = <2>; }; prcc_reset: prcc-reset-controller { #reset-cells = <2>; }; ... }; This patch makes sure that "clocks" is marked as initialized so that fw_devlink knows that all nodes under it have been initialized. If the driver creates struct devices for some of the subnodes, fw_devlink is smart enough to know to wait for those devices to probe, so no special handling is required for those cases. 2023-03-06btrfs: ioctl: return device fsid from DEV_INFO ioctlQu Wenruo
Currently user space utilizes dev info ioctl to grab the info of a certain devid, this includes its device uuid. But the returned info is not enough to determine if a device is a seed. Commit a26d60dedf9a ("btrfs: sysfs: add devinfo/fsid to retrieve actual fsid from the device") exports the same value in sysfs so this is for parity with ioctl. Add a new member, fsid, into btrfs_ioctl_dev_info_args, and populate the member with fsid value. This should not cause any compatibility problem, following the combinations: - Old user space, old kernel - Old user space, new kernel User space tool won't even check the new member. - New user space, old kernel The kernel won't touch the new member, and user space tool should zero out its argument, thus the new member is all zero. User space tool can then know the kernel doesn't support this fsid reporting, and falls back to whatever they can. - New user space, new kernel Go as planned. Would find the fsid member is no longer zero, and trust its value. 2023-03-06netfilter: tproxy: fix deadlock due to missing BH disableFlorian Westphal
The xtables packet traverser performs an unconditional local_bh_disable(), but the nf_tables evaluation loop does not. Functions that are called from either xtables or nftables must assume that they can be called in process context. inet_twsk_deschedule_put() assumes that no softirq interrupt can occur. If tproxy is used from nf_tables its possible that we'll deadlock trying to aquire a lock already held in process context. Add a small helper that takes care of this and use it. 2023-03-05cpumask: re-introduce constant-sized cpumask optimizationsLinus Torvalds
Commit aa47a7c215e7 ("lib/cpumask: deprecate nr_cpumask_bits") resulted in the cpumask operations potentially becoming hugely less efficient, because suddenly the cpumask was always considered to be variable-sized. The optimization was then later added back in a limited form by commit 6f9c07be9d02 ("lib/cpumask: add FORCE_NR_CPUS config option"), but that FORCE_NR_CPUS option is not useful in a generic kernel and more of a special case for embedded situations with fixed hardware. Instead, just re-introduce the optimization, with some changes. Instead of depending on CPUMASK_OFFSTACK being false, and then always using the full constant cpumask width, this introduces three different cpumask "sizes": - the exact size (nr_cpumask_bits) remains identical to nr_cpu_ids. This is used for situations where we should use the exact size. - the "small" size (small_cpumask_bits) is the NR_CPUS constant if it fits in a single word and the bitmap operations thus end up able to trigger the "small_const_nbits()" optimizations. This is used for the operations that have optimized single-word cases that get inlined, notably the bit find and scanning functions. - the "large" size (large_cpumask_bits) is the NR_CPUS constant if it is an sufficiently small constant that makes simple "copy" and "clear" operations more efficient. This is arbitrarily set at four words or less. As a an example of this situation, without this fixed size optimization, cpumask_clear() will generate code like movl nr_cpu_ids(%rip), %edx addq $63, %rdx shrq $3, %rdx andl $-8, %edx callq memset@PLT on x86-64, because it would calculate the "exact" number of longwords that need to be cleared. In contrast, with this patch, using a MAX_CPU of 64 (which is quite a reasonable value to use), the above becomes a single movq $0,cpumask instruction instead, because instead of caring to figure out exactly how many CPU's the system has, it just knows that the cpumask will be a single word and can just clear it all. Note that this does end up tightening the rules a bit from the original version in another way: operations that set bits in the cpumask are now limited to the actual nr_cpu_ids limit, whereas we used to do the nr_cpumask_bits thing almost everywhere in the cpumask code. But if you just clear bits, or scan for bits, we can use the simpler compile-time constants. In the process, remove 'cpumask_complement()' and 'for_each_cpu_not()' which were not useful, and which fundamentally have to be limited to 'nr_cpu_ids'. Better remove them now than have somebody introduce use of them later. Of course, on x86-64 with MAXSMP there is no sane small compile-time constant for the cpumask sizes, and we end up using the actual CPU bits, and will generate the above kind of horrors regardless. Please don't use MAXSMP unless you really expect to have machines with thousands of cores. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2023-03-05Remove Intel compiler supportMasahiro Yamada
include/linux/compiler-intel.h had no update in the past 3 years. We often forget about the third C compiler to build the kernel. 2023-03-03bpf: Use separate RCU callbacks for freeing selemKumar Kartikeya Dwivedi
Martin suggested that instead of using a byte in the hole (which he has a use for in his future patch) in bpf_local_storage_elem, we can dispatch a different call_rcu callback based on whether we need to free special fields in bpf_local_storage_elem data. The free path, described in commit 9db44fdd8105 ("bpf: Support kptrs in local storage maps"), only waits for call_rcu callbacks when there are special (kptrs, etc.) fields in the map value, hence it is necessary that we only access smap in this case. Therefore, dispatch different RCU callbacks based on the BPF map has a valid btf_record, which dereference and use smap's btf_record only when it is valid. 2023-03-03bpf: Refactor RCU enforcement in the verifier.Alexei Starovoitov
bpf_rcu_read_lock/unlock() are only available in clang compiled kernels. Lack of such key mechanism makes it impossible for sleepable bpf programs to use RCU pointers. Allow bpf_rcu_read_lock/unlock() in GCC compiled kernels (though GCC doesn't support btf_type_tag yet) and allowlist certain field dereferences in important data structures like tast_struct, cgroup, socket that are used by sleepable programs either as RCU pointer or full trusted pointer (which is valid outside of RCU CS). Use BTF_TYPE_SAFE_RCU and BTF_TYPE_SAFE_TRUSTED macros for such tagging. They will be removed once GCC supports btf_type_tag. With that refactor check_ptr_to_btf_access(). Make it strict in enforcing PTR_TRUSTED and PTR_UNTRUSTED while deprecating old PTR_TO_BTF_ID without modifier flags. There is a chance that this strict enforcement might break existing programs (especially on GCC compiled kernels), but this cleanup has to start sooner than later. Note PTR_TO_CTX access still yields old deprecated PTR_TO_BTF_ID. Once it's converted to strict PTR_TRUSTED or PTR_UNTRUSTED the kfuncs and helpers will be able to default to KF_TRUSTED_ARGS. KF_RCU will remain as a weaker version of KF_TRUSTED_ARGS where obj refcnt could be 0. Adjust rcu_read_lock selftest to run on gcc and clang compiled kernels. 2023-03-03bpf: Introduce kptr_rcu.Alexei Starovoitov
The life time of certain kernel structures like 'struct cgroup' is protected by RCU. Hence it's safe to dereference them directly from __kptr tagged pointers in bpf maps. The resulting pointer is MEM_RCU and can be passed to kfuncs that expect KF_RCU. Derefrence of other kptr-s returns PTR_UNTRUSTED. For example: struct map_value { struct cgroup __kptr *cgrp; }; SEC("tp_btf/cgroup_mkdir") int BPF_PROG(test_cgrp_get_ancestors, struct cgroup *cgrp_arg, const char *path) { struct cgroup *cg, *cg2; cg = bpf_cgroup_acquire(cgrp_arg); // cg is PTR_TRUSTED and ref_obj_id > 0 bpf_kptr_xchg(&v->cgrp, cg); cg2 = v->cgrp; // This is new feature introduced by this patch. // cg2 is PTR_MAYBE_NULL | MEM_RCU. // When cg2 != NULL, it's a valid cgroup, but its percpu_ref could be zero if (cg2) bpf_cgroup_ancestor(cg2, level); // safe to do. } Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Daniel Borkmann <daniel@iogearbox.net> Acked-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Acked-by: David Vernet <void@manifault.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/20230303041446.3630-4-alexei.starovoitov@gmail.com

2023-03-02genirq/msi, platform-msi: Ensure that MSI descriptors are unreferencedThomas Gleixner
Miquel reported a warning in the MSI core which is triggered when interrupts are freed via platform_msi_device_domain_free(). This code got reworked to use core functions for freeing the MSI descriptors, but nothing took care to clear the msi_desc->irq entry, which then triggers the warning in msi_free_msi_desc() which uses desc->irq to validate that the descriptor has been torn down. The same issue exists in msi_domain_populate_irqs(). Up to the point that msi_free_msi_descs() grew a warning for this case, this went un-noticed. Provide the counterpart of msi_domain_populate_irqs() and invoke it in platform_msi_device_domain_free() before freeing the interrupts and MSI descriptors and also in the error path of msi_domain_populate_irqs(). 2023-03-01bpf: Support kptrs in local storage mapsKumar Kartikeya Dwivedi
Enable support for kptrs in local storage maps by wiring up the freeing of these kptrs from map value. Freeing of bpf_local_storage_map is only delayed in case there are special fields, therefore bpf_selem_free_* path can also only dereference smap safely in that case. This is recorded using a bool utilizing a hole in bpF_local_storage_elem. It could have been tagged in the pointer value smap using the lowest bit (since alignment > 1), but since there was already a hole I went with the simpler option. Only the map structure freeing is delayed using RCU barriers, as the buckets aren't used when selem is being freed, so they can be freed once all readers of the bucket lists can no longer access it. 2023-03-01capability: just use a 'u64' instead of a 'u32[2]' arrayLinus Torvalds
Back in 2008 we extended the capability bits from 32 to 64, and we did it by extending the single 32-bit capability word from one word to an array of two words. It was then obfuscated by hiding the "2" behind two macro expansions, with the reasoning being that maybe it gets extended further some day. That reasoning may have been valid at the time, but the last thing we want to do is to extend the capability set any more. And the array of values not only causes source code oddities (with loops to deal with it), but also results in worse code generation. It's a lose-lose situation. So just change the 'u32[2]' into a 'u64' and be done with it. We still have to deal with the fact that the user space interface is designed around an array of these 32-bit values, but that was the case before too, since the array layouts were different (ie user space doesn't use an array of 32-bit values for individual capability masks, but an array of 32-bit slices of multiple masks). So that marshalling of data is actually simplified too, even if it does remain somewhat obscure and odd. This was all triggered by my reaction to the new "cap_isidentical()" introduced recently. By just using a saner data structure, it went from unsigned __capi; CAP_FOR_EACH_U32(__capi) { if (a.cap[__capi] != b.cap[__capi]) return false; } return true; to just being return a.val == b.val; instead. Which is rather more obvious both to humans and to compilers. 2023-03-01bpf: Add bpf_dynptr_slice and bpf_dynptr_slice_rdwrJoanne Koong
Two new kfuncs are added, bpf_dynptr_slice and bpf_dynptr_slice_rdwr. The user must pass in a buffer to store the contents of the data slice if a direct pointer to the data cannot be obtained. For skb and xdp type dynptrs, these two APIs are the only way to obtain a data slice. However, for other types of dynptrs, there is no difference between bpf_dynptr_slice(_rdwr) and bpf_dynptr_data. For skb type dynptrs, the data is copied into the user provided buffer if any of the data is not in the linear portion of the skb. For xdp type dynptrs, the data is copied into the user provided buffer if the data is between xdp frags. If the skb is cloned and a call to bpf_dynptr_data_rdwr is made, then the skb will be uncloned (see bpf_unclone_prologue()). Please note that any bpf_dynptr_write() automatically invalidates any prior data slices of the skb dynptr. This is because the skb may be cloned or may need to pull its paged buffer into the head. As such, any bpf_dynptr_write() will automatically have its prior data slices invalidated, even if the write is to data in the skb head of an uncloned skb. Please note as well that any other helper calls that change the underlying packet buffer (eg bpf_skb_pull_data()) invalidates any data slices of the skb dynptr as well, for the same reasons. 2023-03-01bpf: Add xdp dynptrsJoanne Koong
Add xdp dynptrs, which are dynptrs whose underlying pointer points to a xdp_buff. The dynptr acts on xdp data. xdp dynptrs have two main benefits. One is that they allow operations on sizes that are not statically known at compile-time (eg variable-sized accesses). Another is that parsing the packet data through dynptrs (instead of through direct access of xdp->data and xdp->data_end) can be more ergonomic and less brittle (eg does not need manual if checking for being within bounds of data_end). For reads and writes on the dynptr, this includes reading/writing from/to and across fragments. Data slices through the bpf_dynptr_data API are not supported; instead bpf_dynptr_slice() and bpf_dynptr_slice_rdwr() should be used. For examples of how xdp dynptrs can be used, please see the attached selftests. 2023-02-27mm/hwpoison: convert TTU_IGNORE_HWPOISON to TTU_HWPOISONNaoya Horiguchi
After a memory error happens on a clean folio, a process unexpectedly receives SIGBUS when it accesses the error page. This SIGBUS killing is pointless and simply degrades the level of RAS of the system, because the clean folio can be dropped without any data lost on memory error handling as we do for a clean pagecache. When memory_failure() is called on a clean folio, try_to_unmap() is called twice (one from split_huge_page() and one from hwpoison_user_mappings()). The root cause of the issue is that pte conversion to hwpoisoned entry is now done in the first call of try_to_unmap() because PageHWPoison is already set at this point, while it's actually expected to be done in the second call. This behavior disturbs the error handling operation like removing pagecache, which results in the malfunction described above. So convert TTU_IGNORE_HWPOISON into TTU_HWPOISON and set TTU_HWPOISON only when we really intend to convert pte to hwpoison entry. This can prevent other callers of try_to_unmap() from accidentally converting to hwpoison entries.
