2018-01-05IB/{rdmavt, hfi1, qib}: Self determine driver nameMichael J. Ruhl
Currently the HFI and QIB drivers allow the IB core to assign a unit number to the driver name string. If multiple devices exist in a system, there is a possibility that the device unit number and the IB core number will be mismatched. Fix by using the driver defined unit number to generate the device name. Reviewed-by: Mike Marciniszyn <mike.marciniszyn@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Michael J. 2018-01-05block: introduce zoned block devices zone write lockingChristoph Hellwig
Components relying only on the request_queue structure for accessing block devices (e.g. I/O schedulers) have a limited knowledged of the device characteristics. In particular, the device capacity cannot be easily discovered, which for a zoned block device also result in the inability to easily know the number of zones of the device (the zone size is indicated by the chunk_sectors field of the queue limits). Introduce the nr_zones field to the request_queue structure to simplify access to this information. Also, add the bitmap seq_zone_bitmap which indicates which zones of the device are sequential zones (write preferred or write required) and the bitmap seq_zones_wlock which indicates if a zone is write locked, that is, if a write request targeting a zone was dispatched to the device. These fields are initialized by the low level block device driver (sd.c for ZBC/ZAC disks). They are not initialized by stacking drivers (device mappers) handling zoned block devices (e.g. dm-linear). Using this, I/O schedulers can introduce zone write locking to control request dispatching to a zoned block device and avoid write request reordering by limiting to at most a single write request per zone outside of the scheduler at any time. Based on previous patches from Damien Le Moal. 2018-01-05net: sched: fix tcf_block_get_ext() in case CONFIG_NET_CLS is not setQuentin Monnet
The definition of functions tcf_block_get() and tcf_block_get_ext() depends of CONFIG_NET_CLS being set. When those functions gained extack support, only one version of the declaration of those functions was updated. Function tcf_block_get() was later fixed with commit 3c1490913f3b ("net: sch: api: fix tcf_block_get"). Change arguments of tcf_block_get_ext() for the case when CONFIG_NET_CLS is not set. 2018-01-04uapi/if_ether.h: prevent redefinition of struct ethhdrHauke Mehrtens
Musl provides its own ethhdr struct definition. Add a guard to prevent its definition of the appropriate musl header has already been included. glibc does not implement this header, but when glibc will implement this they can just define __UAPI_DEF_ETHHDR 0 to make it work with the kernel. 2018-01-04bpf: only build sockmap with CONFIG_INETJohn Fastabend
The sockmap infrastructure is only aware of TCP sockets at the moment. In the future we plan to add UDP. In both cases CONFIG_NET should be built-in. 2018-01-04posix-timers: Prevent UB from shifting negative signed valueNick Desaulniers
Shifting a negative signed number is undefined behavior. Looking at the macros MAKE_PROCESS_CPUCLOCK and FD_TO_CLOCKID, it seems that the subexpression: (~(clockid_t) (pid) << 3) where clockid_t resolves to a signed int, which once negated, is undefined behavior to shift the value of if the results thus far are negative. It was further suggested to make these macros into inline functions. 2018-01-04media: uvcvideo: Add a metadata device nodeGuennadi Liakhovetski
Some UVC video cameras contain metadata in their payload headers. This patch extracts that data, adding more clock synchronisation information, on both bulk and isochronous endpoints and makes it available to the user space on a separate video node, using the V4L2_CAP_META_CAPTURE capability and the V4L2_BUF_TYPE_META_CAPTURE buffer queue type. By default, only the V4L2_META_FMT_UVC pixel format is available from those nodes. However, cameras can be added to the device ID table to additionally specify their own metadata format, in which case that format will also become available from the metadata node. 2018-01-03Merge tag 'at24-4.16-updates-for-wolfram' of ↵Wolfram Sang
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brgl/linux into i2c/for-4.16 "AT24 updates for 4.16 merge window The driver has been converted to using regmap instead of raw i2c and smbus calls which shrank the code significantly. Device tree binding document has been cleaned up. Device tree support in the driver has been improved and we now support all at24 models as well as two new DT properties (no-read-rollover and wp-gpios). We no longer user unreadable magic values for driver data as the way it was implemented caused problems for some EEPROM models - we switched to regular structs. Aside from that, there's a bunch of coding style fixes and minor improvements all over the place."
