2020-12-28spi: Add SPI_NO_TX/RX supportDragos Bogdan
Transmit/receive only is a valid SPI mode. For example, the MOSI/TX line might be missing from an ADC while for a DAC the MISO/RX line may be optional. This patch adds these two new modes: SPI_NO_TX and SPI_NO_RX. This way, the drivers will be able to identify if any of these two lines is missing and to adjust the transfers accordingly. 2020-12-28spi: uapi: unify SPI modes into a single spi.h headerAlexandru Ardelean
This change moves all the SPI mode bits into a separate 'spi.h' header in uAPI. This is meant to re-use these definitions inside the kernel as well as export them to userspace (via uAPI). The SPI mode definitions have usually been duplicated between between 'include/linux/spi/spi.h' and 'include/uapi/linux/spi/spidev.h', so whenever adding a new entry, this would need to be put in both headers. They've been moved from 'include/linux/spi/spi.h', since that seems a bit more complete; the bits have descriptions and there is the SPI_MODE_X_MASK. This change also does a conversion of these bitfields to _BITUL() macro. 2020-12-28fanotify: Fix sys_fanotify_mark() on native x86-32Brian Gerst
Commit 121b32a58a3a ("x86/entry/32: Use IA32-specific wrappers for syscalls taking 64-bit arguments") converted native x86-32 which take 64-bit arguments to use the compat handlers to allow conversion to passing args via pt_regs. sys_fanotify_mark() was however missed, as it has a general compat handler. Add a config option that will use the syscall wrapper that takes the split args for native 32-bit. 2020-12-28netfilter: nftables: add set expression flagsPablo Neira Ayuso
The set flag NFT_SET_EXPR provides a hint to the kernel that userspace supports for multiple expressions per set element. In the same direction, NFT_DYNSET_F_EXPR specifies that dynset expression defines multiple expressions per set element. This allows new userspace software with old kernels to bail out with EOPNOTSUPP. This update is similar to ef516e8625dd ("netfilter: nf_tables: reintroduce the NFT_SET_CONCAT flag"). The NFT_SET_EXPR flag needs to be set on when the NFTA_SET_EXPRESSIONS attribute is specified. The NFT_SET_EXPR flag is not set on with NFTA_SET_EXPR to retain backward compatibility in old userspace binaries. 2020-12-28habanalabs: add validation cs counter, fix misplaced countersAlon Mizrahi
Up until now validation errors were counted in the parsing field of the cs_counters struct, so we added a new counter and increased it when needed. In addition, there were some locations where only one of the counters was updated (ctx or aggregate) so add the second one to be updated as well. 2020-12-22kasan, mm: allow cache merging with no metadataAndrey Konovalov
The reason cache merging is disabled with KASAN is because KASAN puts its metadata right after the allocated object. When the merged caches have slightly different sizes, the metadata ends up in different places, which KASAN doesn't support. It might be possible to adjust the metadata allocation algorithm and make it friendly to the cache merging code. Instead this change takes a simpler approach and allows merging caches when no metadata is present. Which is the case for hardware tag-based KASAN with kasan.mode=prod. Using kasan_reset_tag() currently results in a function call. As it's called quite often from the allocator code, this leads to a noticeable slowdown. Move it to include/linux/kasan.h and turn it into a static inline function. Also remove the now unneeded reset_tag() internal KASAN macro and use kasan_reset_tag() instead. With the powercap dtpm controller, we are able to plug devices with power limitation features in the tree. The following patch introduces the CPU power limitation based on the energy model and the performance states. The power limitation is done at the performance domain level. If some CPUs are unplugged, the corresponding power will be subtracted from the performance domain total power. It is up to the platform to initialize the dtpm tree and add the CPU. 2020-12-22powercap/drivers/dtpm: Add API for dynamic thermal power managementDaniel Lezcano
On the embedded world, the complexity of the SoC leads to an increasing number of hotspots which need to be monitored and mitigated as a whole in order to prevent the temperature to go above the normative and legally stated 'skin temperature'. Another aspect is to sustain the performance for a given power budget, for example virtual reality where the user can feel dizziness if the GPU performance is capped while a big CPU is processing something else. Or reduce the battery charging because the dissipated power is too high compared with the power consumed by other devices. The userspace is the most adequate place to dynamically act on the different devices by limiting their power given an application profile: it has the knowledge of the platform. These userspace daemons are in charge of the Dynamic Thermal Power Management (DTPM). Nowadays, the dtpm daemons are abusing the thermal framework as they act on the cooling device state to force a specific and arbitrary state without taking care of the governor decisions. Given the closed loop of some governors that can confuse the logic or directly enter in a decision conflict. As the number of cooling device support is limited today to the CPU and the GPU, the dtpm daemons have little control on the power dissipation of the system. The out of tree solutions are hacking around here and there in the drivers, in the frameworks to have control on the devices. The common solution is to declare them as cooling devices. There is no unification of the power limitation unit, opaque states are used. This patch provides a way to create a hierarchy of constraints using the powercap framework. The devices which are registered as power limit-able devices are represented in this hierarchy as a tree. They are linked together with intermediate nodes which are just there to propagate the constraint to the children. The leaves of the tree are the real devices, the intermediate nodes are virtual, aggregating the children constraints and power characteristics. Each node have a weight on a 2^10 basis, in order to reflect the percentage of power distribution of the children's node. This percentage is used to dispatch the power limit to the children. The weight is computed against the max power of the siblings. This simple approach allows to do a fair distribution of the power limit. There are specific DPCDs defined for detecting link failures between the PCON and HDMI sink and check the link status. In case of link failure, PCON will communicate the same using an IRQ_HPD to source. HDMI sink would have indicated the same to PCON using SCDC interrupt mechanism. While source can always read final HDMI sink's status using I2C over AUX, it is easier and faster to read the PCONs already read HDMI sink status registers. This has been a long missing part of the clk provider API that will help us move away from exposing a struct clk pointer in the struct clk_hw. Tracepoints are added for the clk_set_rate() "range" functions, similar to the tracepoints we already have for clk_set_rate() and we added a column to debugfs to help developers understand the hardware enable state of clks in case firmware or bootloader state is different than what is expected. Overall the core changes are mostly improving the clk driver writing experience. At the driver level, we have the usual collection of driver updates and new drivers for new SoCs. This time around the Qualcomm folks introduced a good handful of clk drivers for various parts of three or four SoCs. The SiFive folks added a new clk driver for their FU740 SoCs, coming in second on the diffstat and then Atmel AT91 and Amlogic SoCs had lots of work done after that for various new features. One last thing to note in the driver area is that the i.MX driver has gained a new binding to support SCU clks after being on the list for many months. It uses a two cell binding which is sort of rare in clk DT bindings. Beyond that we have the usual set of driver fixes and tweaks that come from more testing and finding out that some configuration was wrong or that a driver could support being built as a module.
