Reverse run-queue priority enumeration such that the higest priority is now 0,
and for each consecutive integer the prioirty diminishes.
Run-queues correspond to priorities. To an external observer a scheduler
created with a single run-queue, and another created with
DRM_SCHED_PRIORITY_COUNT number of run-queues, should always schedule
sched->sched_rq[0] with the same "priority", as that index run-queue exists in
both schedulers, i.e. a scheduler with one run-queue or many. This patch makes
it so.
In other words, the "priority" of sched->sched_rq[n], n >= 0, is the same for
any scheduler created with any allowable number of run-queues (priorities), 0
to DRM_SCHED_PRIORITY_COUNT.

It is not always possible to keep a device in the runtime suspended state
when a system level suspend/resume cycle is executed. E.g. for ATA devices
connected to AHCI adapters, system resume resets the ATA ports, which
causes connected devices to spin up. In such case, a runtime suspended disk
will incorrectly be seen with a suspended runtime state because the device
is not resumed by sd_resume_system(). The power state seen by the user is
different than the actual device physical power state.
Fix this issue by introducing the struct scsi_device flag
force_runtime_start_on_system_start. When set, this flag causes
sd_resume_system() to request a runtime resume operation for runtime
suspended devices. This results in the user seeing the device runtime_state
as active after a system resume, thus correctly reflecting the device
physical power state.

Commit 3cc2ffe5c16d ("scsi: sd: Differentiate system and runtime start/stop
management") changed the single bit manage_start_stop flag into 2 boolean
fields of the SCSI device structure. Commit 24eca2dce0f8 ("scsi: sd:
Introduce manage_shutdown device flag") introduced the manage_shutdown
boolean field for the same structure. Together, these 2 commits increase
the size of struct scsi_device by 8 bytes by using booleans instead of
defining the manage_xxx fields as single bit flags, similarly to other
flags of this structure.
Avoid this unnecessary structure size increase and be consistent with the
definition of other flags by reverting the definitions of the manage_xxx
fields as single bit flags.

Pull vfs fixes from Christian Brauner:
- Avoid calling back into LSMs from vfs_getattr_nosec() calls.
IMA used to query inode properties accessing raw inode fields without
dedicated helpers. That was finally fixed a few releases ago by
forcing IMA to use vfs_getattr_nosec() helpers.
The goal of the vfs_getattr_nosec() helper is to query for attributes
without calling into the LSM layer which would be quite problematic
because incredibly IMA is called from __fput()...
__fput()
-> ima_file_free()
What it does is to call back into the filesystem to update the file's
IMA xattr. Querying the inode without using vfs_getattr_nosec() meant
that IMA didn't handle stacking filesystems such as overlayfs
correctly. So the switch to vfs_getattr_nosec() is quite correct. But
the switch to vfs_getattr_nosec() revealed another bug when used on
stacking filesystems:
__fput()
-> ima_file_free()
-> vfs_getattr_nosec()
-> i_op->getattr::ovl_getattr()
-> vfs_getattr()
-> i_op->getattr::$WHATEVER_UNDERLYING_FS_getattr()
-> security_inode_getattr() # calls back into LSMs
Now, if that __fput() happens from task_work_run() of an exiting task
current->fs and various other pointer could already be NULL. So
anything in the LSM layer relying on that not being NULL would be
quite surprised.
Fix that by passing the information that this is a security request
through to the stacking filesystem by adding a new internal
ATT_GETATTR_NOSEC flag. Now the callchain becomes:
__fput()
-> ima_file_free()
-> vfs_getattr_nosec()
-> i_op->getattr::ovl_getattr()
-> if (AT_GETATTR_NOSEC)
vfs_getattr_nosec()
else
vfs_getattr()
-> i_op->getattr::$WHATEVER_UNDERLYING_FS_getattr()
- Fix a bug introduced with the iov_iter rework from last cycle.
This broke /proc/kcore by copying too much and without the correct
offset.
- Add a missing NULL check when allocating the root inode in
autofs_fill_super().
- Fix stable writes for multi-device filesystems (xfs, btrfs etc) and
the block device pseudo filesystem.
Stable writes used to be a superblock flag only, making it a per
filesystem property. Add an additional AS_STABLE_WRITES mapping flag
to allow for fine-grained control.
- Ensure that offset_iterate_dir() returns 0 after reaching the end of
a directory so it adheres to getdents() convention.

It allows drivers to set a struct drm_plane_state .ignore_damage_clips in
their plane's .atomic_check callback, as an indication to damage helpers
such as drm_atomic_helper_damage_iter_init() that the damage clips should
be ignored.
To be used by drivers that do per-buffer (e.g: virtio-gpu) uploads (rather
than per-plane uploads), since these type of drivers need to handle buffer
damages instead of frame damages.
That way, these drivers could force a full plane update if the framebuffer
attached to a plane's state has changed since the last update (page-flip).

Virtualized drivers place additional restrictions on the cursor plane
which breaks the contract of universal planes. To allow atomic
modesettings with virtualized drivers the clients need to advertise
that they're capable of dealing with those extra restrictions.
To do that introduce DRM_CLIENT_CAP_CURSOR_PLANE_HOTSPOT which
lets DRM know that the client is aware of and capable of dealing with
the extra restrictions on the virtual cursor plane.
Setting this option to true makes DRM expose the cursor plane on
virtualized drivers. The userspace is expected to set the hotspots
and handle mouse events on that plane.

Atomic modesetting supports mouse cursor offsets via the hotspot
properties that are created on cursor planes. All drivers which
support hotspots are atomic and the legacy code has been implemented
in terms of the atomic properties as well.
Due to the above the lagacy cursor hotspot code is no longer used or
needed and can be removed.

Atomic modesetting code lacked support for specifying mouse cursor
hotspots. The legacy kms DRM_IOCTL_MODE_CURSOR2 had support for setting
the hotspot but the functionality was not implemented in the new atomic
paths.
Due to the lack of hotspots in the atomic paths userspace compositors
completely disable atomic modesetting for drivers that require it (i.e.
all paravirtualized drivers).
This change adds hotspot properties to the atomic codepaths throughtout
the DRM core and will allow enabling atomic modesetting for virtualized
drivers in the userspace.

Cursor planes on virtualized drivers have special meaning and require
that the clients handle them in specific ways, e.g. the cursor plane
should react to the mouse movement the way a mouse cursor would be
expected to and the client is required to set hotspot properties on it
in order for the mouse events to be routed correctly.
This breaks the contract as specified by the "universal planes". Fix it
by disabling the cursor planes on virtualized drivers while adding
a foundation on top of which it's possible to special case mouse cursor
planes for clients that want it.
Disabling the cursor planes makes some kms compositors which were broken,
e.g. Weston, fallback to software cursor which works fine or at least
better than currently while having no effect on others, e.g. gnome-shell
or kwin, which put virtualized drivers on a deny-list when running in
atomic context to make them fallback to legacy kms and avoid this issue.

Control flow integrity is now checking that type signatures match on
indirect function calls. That breaks closures, which embed a work_struct
in a closure in such a way that a closure_fn may also be used as a
workqueue fn by the underlying closure code.
So we have to change closure fns to take a work_struct as their
argument - but that results in a loss of clarity, as closure fns have
different semantics from normal workqueue functions (they run owning a
ref on the closure, which must be released with continue_at() or
closure_return()).
Thus, this patc introduces CLOSURE_CALLBACK() and closure_type() macros
as suggested by Kees, to smooth things over a bit.

This new kernel capability indicates whether async page-flips are
supported via the atomic uAPI. DRM clients can use it to check
for support before feeding DRM_MODE_PAGE_FLIP_ASYNC to the kernel.
Make it clear that DRM_CAP_ASYNC_PAGE_FLIP is for legacy uAPI only.

If the driver supports it, allow user-space to supply the
DRM_MODE_PAGE_FLIP_ASYNC flag to request an async page-flip.
Set drm_crtc_state.async_flip accordingly.
Document that drivers will reject atomic commits if an async
flip isn't possible. This allows user-space to fall back to
something else. For instance, Xorg falls back to a blit.
Another option is to wait as close to the next vblank as
possible before performing the page-flip to reduce latency.

The current implementation of drm_color_lut_extract()
generates weird results. Eg. if we go through all the
values for 16->8bpc conversion we see the following pattern:

So less values map to 0 and more values map 0xff, which
doesn't seem particularly great.
To get just the same number of input values to map to
the same output values we'd just need to drop the rounding
entrirely. But perhaps a better idea would be to follow the
OpenGL int<->float conversion rules, in which case we get
the following results:

Note that since the divisor is constant the compiler
is able to optimize away the integer division in most
cases. The only exception is the _ULL() case on 32bit
architectures since that gets emitted as inline asm
via do_div() and thus the compiler doesn't get to
optimize it.

common piece of code currently implemented by multiple drivers. Add a

After commit a103f46633fd the kernel stopped compiling for
several ARM32 platforms that I am building with a bare metal
compiler. Bare metal compilers (arm-none-eabi-) don't
define __linux__.

The issue is caused by the introducing of splitting out the ACPI code to
support the new generic fw_table code.
Rafael suggested [1] moving the fw_table.h include in linux/acpi.h to below
the linux/mutex.h. Remove the two includes in fw_table.h. Replace
linux/fw_table.h include in fw_table.c with linux/acpi.h.

We really don't want to do atomic_read() or anything like that, since we
already have the value, not the lock. The whole point of this is that
we've loaded the lock from memory, and we want to check whether the
value we loaded was a locked one or not.
The main use of this is the lockref code, which loads both the lock and
the reference count in one atomic operation, and then works on that
combined value. With the atomic_read(), the compiler would pointlessly
spill the value to the stack, in order to then be able to read it back
"atomically".
This is the qspinlock version of commit c6f4a9002252 ("asm-generic:
ticket-lock: Optimize arch_spin_value_unlocked()") which fixed this same
bug for ticket locks.

The current way of calculating the pbn_div value, the link BW per each
MTP slot, worked only for DP 1.4 link rates. Fix things up for UHBR
rates calculating with the correct channel coding efficiency based on
the link rate.

On UHBR links the PBN divider is a fractional number, accordingly store
it in fixed point format. For now drm_dp_get_vc_payload_bw() always
returns a whole number and all callers will use only the integer part of
it which should preserve the current behavior. The next patch will fix
drm_dp_get_vc_payload_bw() for UHBR rates returning a fractional number
for those (also accounting for the channel coding efficiency correctly).

Since the edid_firmware module parameter was moved from
drm_kms_helper.ko to drm.ko in v4.15, we've had a backwards
compatibility helper in place, with a DRM_NOTE() suggesting to migrate
to drm.edid_firmware. This was added in commit ac6c35a4d8c7 ("drm: add
backwards compatibility support for drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware").
More than five years and 30+ kernel releases later, drop the backward
compatibility.

hid_debug_events_release releases resources bound to the HID device instance.
hid_device_release releases the underlying HID device instance potentially
before hid_debug_events_release has completed releasing debug resources bound
to the same HID device instance.
Reference count to prevent the HID device instance from being torn down
preemptively when HID debugging support is used. When count reaches zero,
release core resources of HID device instance using hiddev_free.

In some cases verifier can't infer convergence of the bpf_loop()
iteration. E.g. for the following program:

Each 'cb' simulation would eventually return to 'prog' and reach
'return choice_arr[ctx.i]' statement. At which point ctx.i would be
marked precise, thus forcing verifier to track multitude of separate
states with {.i=0}, {.i=1}, ... at bpf_loop() callback entry.
This commit allows "brute force" handling for such cases by limiting
number of callback body simulations using 'umax' value of the first
bpf_loop() parameter.
For this, extend bpf_func_state with 'callback_depth' field.
Increment this field when callback visiting state is pushed to states
traversal stack. For frame #N it's 'callback_depth' field counts how
many times callback with frame depth N+1 had been executed.
Use bpf_func_state specifically to allow independent tracking of
callback depths when multiple nested bpf_loop() calls are present.

Prior to this patch callbacks were handled as regular function calls,
execution of callback body was modeled exactly once.
This patch updates callbacks handling logic as follows:
- introduces a function push_callback_call() that schedules callback
body verification in env->head stack;
- updates prepare_func_exit() to reschedule callback body verification
upon BPF_EXIT;
- as calls to bpf_*_iter_next(), calls to callback invoking functions
are marked as checkpoints;
- is_state_visited() is updated to stop callback based iteration when
some identical parent state is found.
Paths with callback function invoked zero times are now verified first,
which leads to necessity to modify some selftests:
- the following negative tests required adding release/unlock/drop
calls to avoid previously masked unrelated error reports:
- cb_refs.c:underflow_prog
- exceptions_fail.c:reject_rbtree_add_throw
- exceptions_fail.c:reject_with_cp_reference
- the following precision tracking selftests needed change in expected
log trace:
- verifier_subprog_precision.c:callback_result_precise
(note: r0 precision is no longer propagated inside callback and
I think this is a correct behavior)
- verifier_subprog_precision.c:parent_callee_saved_reg_precise_with_callback
- verifier_subprog_precision.c:parent_stack_slot_precise_with_callback

ndo_get_peer_dev is used in tcx BPF fast path, therefore make use of
indirect call wrapper and therefore optimize the bpf_redirect_peer()
internal handling a bit. Add a small skb_get_peer_dev() wrapper which
utilizes the INDIRECT_CALL_1() macro instead of open coding.
Future work could potentially add a peer pointer directly into struct
net_device in future and convert veth and netkit over to use it so
that eventually ndo_get_peer_dev can be removed.

Move {l,t,d}stats allocation to the core and let netdevs pick the stats
type they need. That way the driver doesn't have to bother with error
handling (allocation failure checking, making sure free happens in the
right spot, etc) - all happening in the core.

Just move struct pcpu_dstats out of the vrf into the core, and streamline
the field names slightly, so they better align with the {t,l}stats ones.
No functional change otherwise. A conversion of the u64s to u64_stats_t
could be done at a separate point in future. This move is needed as we are
moving the {t,l,d}stats allocation/freeing to the core.

The function blk_set_runtime_active() is called only from
blk_post_runtime_resume(), so there is no need for that function to be
exported. Open-code this function directly in blk_post_runtime_resume()
and remove it.

folio_wait_stable waits for writeback to finish before modifying the
contents of a folio again, e.g. to support check summing of the data
in the block integrity code.
Currently this behavior is controlled by the SB_I_STABLE_WRITES flag
on the super_block, which means it is uniform for the entire file system.
This is wrong for the block device pseudofs which is shared by all
block devices, or file systems that can use multiple devices like XFS
witht the RT subvolume or btrfs (although btrfs currently reimplements
folio_wait_stable anyway).
Add a per-address_space AS_STABLE_WRITES flag to control the behavior
in a more fine grained way. The existing SB_I_STABLE_WRITES is kept
to initialize AS_STABLE_WRITES to the existing default which covers
most cases.

Some older laptops using cs35l41 use firmware which does not support
the CSPL_MBOX_CMD_SPK_OUT_ENABLE command.
Firmware versions v0.28.0 and older do not support this command.

drm_{err,warn,...}() use __drm_printk() which takes a drm device pointer and
uses the embedded device pointer to print the device. This facility handles
NULL device pointer, but not NULL drm device pointer. This patch makes
__drm_printk() also handle a NULL drm device pointer. The printed output is
identical to if drm->dev had been NULL.

When vfs_getattr_nosec() calls a filesystem's getattr interface function
then the 'nosec' should propagate into this function so that
vfs_getattr_nosec() can again be called from the filesystem's gettattr
rather than vfs_getattr(). The latter would add unnecessary security
checks that the initial vfs_getattr_nosec() call wanted to avoid.
Therefore, introduce the getattr flag GETATTR_NOSEC and allow to pass
with the new getattr_flags parameter to the getattr interface function.
In overlayfs and ecryptfs use this flag to determine which one of the
two functions to call.
In a recent code change introduced to IMA vfs_getattr_nosec() ended up
calling vfs_getattr() in overlayfs, which in turn called
security_inode_getattr() on an exiting process that did not have
current->fs set anymore, which then caused a kernel NULL pointer
dereference. With this change the call to security_inode_getattr() can
be avoided, thus avoiding the NULL pointer dereference.

Fix RTT determination to be able to use any type of ACK as the response
from which RTT can be calculated provided its ack.serial is non-zero and
matches the serial number of an outgoing DATA or ACK packet. This
shouldn't be limited to REQUESTED-type ACKs as these can have other types
substituted for them for things like duplicate or out-of-order packets.
