2021-01-04fs: expose LOOKUP_CACHED through openat2() RESOLVE_CACHEDJens Axboe
Now that we support non-blocking path resolution internally, expose it via openat2() in the struct open_how ->resolve flags. This allows applications using openat2() to limit path resolution to the extent that it is already cached. If the lookup cannot be satisfied in a non-blocking manner, openat2(2) will return -1/-EAGAIN. 2021-01-04fs: add support for LOOKUP_CACHEDJens Axboe
io_uring always punts opens to async context, since there's no control over whether the lookup blocks or not. Add LOOKUP_CACHED to support just doing the fast RCU based lookups, which we know will not block. If we can do a cached path resolution of the filename, then we don't have to always punt lookups for a worker. During path resolution, we always do LOOKUP_RCU first. If that fails and we terminate LOOKUP_RCU, then fail a LOOKUP_CACHED attempt as well. 2021-01-04usb: gadget: composite: Split composite reset and disconnectWesley Cheng
Add a specific composite reset API to differentiate between disconnect and reset events. This is needed for adjusting the current draw accordingly based on the USB battery charging specification. The device is only allowed to draw the 500/900 mA (HS/SS) while in the CONFIGURED state, and only 100 mA in the connected and UNCONFIGURED state. 2021-01-04afs: Fix directory entry size calculationDavid Howells
The number of dirent records used by an AFS directory entry should be calculated using the assumption that there is a 16-byte name field in the first block, rather than a 20-byte name field (which is actually the case). This miscalculation is historic and effectively standard, so we have to use it. The calculation we need to use is: 1 + (((strlen(name) + 1) + 15) >> 5) where we are adding one to the strlen() result to account for the NUL termination. Fix this by the following means: (1) Create an inline function to do the calculation for a given name length. (2) Use the function to calculate the number of records used for a dirent in afs_dir_iterate_block(). Use this to move the over-end check out of the loop since it only needs to be done once. Further use this to only go through the loop for the 2nd+ records composing an entry. The only test there now is for if the record is allocated - and we already checked the first block at the top of the outer loop. (3) Add a max name length check in afs_dir_iterate_block(). (4) Make afs_edit_dir_add() and afs_edit_dir_remove() use the function from (1) to calculate the number of blocks rather than doing it incorrectly themselves. 2021-01-03crypto: blake2b - sync with blake2s implementationEric Biggers
Sync the BLAKE2b code with the BLAKE2s code as much as possible: - Move a lot of code into new headers <crypto/blake2b.h> and <crypto/internal/blake2b.h>, and adjust it to be like the corresponding BLAKE2s code, i.e. like <crypto/blake2s.h> and <crypto/internal/blake2s.h>. - Rename constants, e.g. BLAKE2B_*_DIGEST_SIZE => BLAKE2B_*_HASH_SIZE. - Use a macro BLAKE2B_ALG() to define the shash_alg structs. - Export blake2b_compress_generic() for use as a fallback. This makes it much easier to add optimized implementations of BLAKE2b, as optimized implementations can use the helper functions crypto_blake2b_{setkey,init,update,final}() and blake2b_compress_generic(). The ARM implementation will use these. But this change is also helpful because it eliminates unnecessary differences between the BLAKE2b and BLAKE2s code, so that the same improvements can easily be made to both. (The two algorithms are basically identical, except for the word size and constants.) It also makes it straightforward to add a library API for BLAKE2b in the future if/when it's needed. This change does make the BLAKE2b code slightly more complicated than it needs to be, as it doesn't actually provide a library API yet. For example, __blake2b_update() doesn't really need to exist yet; it could just be inlined into crypto_blake2b_update(). But I believe this is outweighed by the benefits of keeping the code in sync. 2021-01-03crypto: blake2s - optimize blake2s initializationEric Biggers
If no key was provided, then don't waste time initializing the block buffer, as its initial contents won't be used. Also, make crypto_blake2s_init() and blake2s() call a single internal function __blake2s_init() which treats the key as optional, rather than conditionally calling blake2s_init() or blake2s_init_key(). This reduces the compiled code size, as previously both blake2s_init() and blake2s_init_key() were being inlined into these two callers, except when the key size passed to blake2s() was a compile-time constant. These optimizations aren't that significant for BLAKE2s. However, the equivalent optimizations will be more significant for BLAKE2b, as everything is twice as big in BLAKE2b. And it's good to keep things consistent rather than making optimizations for BLAKE2b but not BLAKE2s. 2021-01-03crypto: blake2s - share the "shash" API boilerplate codeEric Biggers
Add helper functions for shash implementations of BLAKE2s to include/crypto/internal/blake2s.h, taking advantage of __blake2s_update() and __blake2s_final() that were added by the previous patch to share more code between the library and shash implementations. crypto_blake2s_setkey() and crypto_blake2s_init() are usable as shash_alg::setkey and shash_alg::init directly, while crypto_blake2s_update() and crypto_blake2s_final() take an extra 'blake2s_compress_t' function pointer parameter. This allows the implementation of the compression function to be overridden, which is the only part that optimized implementations really care about. The new functions are inline functions (similar to those in sha1_base.h, sha256_base.h, and sm3_base.h) because this avoids needing to add a new module blake2s_helpers.ko, they aren't *too* long, and this avoids indirect calls which are expensive these days. Note that they can't go in blake2s_generic.ko, as that would require selecting CRYPTO_BLAKE2S from CRYPTO_BLAKE2S_X86, which would cause a recursive dependency. Finally, use these new helper functions in the x86 implementation of BLAKE2s. (This part should be a separate patch, but unfortunately the x86 implementation used the exact same function names like "crypto_blake2s_update()", so it had to be updated at the same time.) VMware observed a performance regression during memmap init on their platform, and bisected to commit 73a6e474cb376 ("mm: memmap_init: iterate over memblock regions rather that check each PFN") causing it. Before, memmap_init_zone() was used to do memmap init of one whole zone, to initialize all low zones of one numa node, but defer memmap init of the last zone in that numa node. However, since commit 73a6e474cb376, function memmap_init() is adapted to iterater over memblock regions inside one zone, then call memmap_init_zone() to do memmap init for each region. E.g, on VMware's system, the memory layout is as below, there are two memory regions in node 2. The current code will mistakenly initialize the whole 1st region [mem 0xab00000000-0xfcffffffff], then do memmap defer to iniatialize only one memmory section on the 2nd region [mem 0x10000000000-0x1033fffffff]. In fact, we only expect to see that there's only one memory section's memmap initialized. That's why more time is costed at the time. In particular, if some file (for whatever reason) does not include build_bug.h and uses a raw _Static_assert(), then we still get warnings. E.g. I see 1 user of raw _Static_assert() (drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgv_sriovmsg.h )." I believe the raw use of _Static_assert() should be allowed, so this should be fixed in genksyms. 2020-12-28USB: usbtmc: Add separate USBTMC_IOCTL_GET_SRQ_STBDave Penkler
This new ioctl only returns the status byte (STB) that was originally sent by the device due to a service request (SRQ) condition. This ioctl checks the srq_asserted bit of the associated file descriptor. If set, the srq_asserted bit is reset and the cached STB with original SRQ information is returned. Otherwise the ioctl returns the error code ENOMSG. This ioctl is useful to support non USBTMC-488 compliant devices. Time sensitive applications can read the cached STB without incurring the cost of an urb transaction over the bus. 2020-12-28spi: Add SPI_NO_TX/RX supportDragos Bogdan
Transmit/receive only is a valid SPI mode. For example, the MOSI/TX line might be missing from an ADC while for a DAC the MISO/RX line may be optional. This patch adds these two new modes: SPI_NO_TX and SPI_NO_RX. This way, the drivers will be able to identify if any of these two lines is missing and to adjust the transfers accordingly. 2020-12-28spi: uapi: unify SPI modes into a single spi.h headerAlexandru Ardelean
This change moves all the SPI mode bits into a separate 'spi.h' header in uAPI. This is meant to re-use these definitions inside the kernel as well as export them to userspace (via uAPI). The SPI mode definitions have usually been duplicated between between 'include/linux/spi/spi.h' and 'include/uapi/linux/spi/spidev.h', so whenever adding a new entry, this would need to be put in both headers. They've been moved from 'include/linux/spi/spi.h', since that seems a bit more complete; the bits have descriptions and there is the SPI_MODE_X_MASK. This change also does a conversion of these bitfields to _BITUL() macro. The set flag NFT_SET_EXPR provides a hint to the kernel that userspace supports for multiple expressions per set element. In the same direction, NFT_DYNSET_F_EXPR specifies that dynset expression defines multiple expressions per set element. This allows new userspace software with old kernels to bail out with EOPNOTSUPP. This update is similar to ef516e8625dd ("netfilter: nf_tables: reintroduce the NFT_SET_CONCAT flag"). The NFT_SET_EXPR flag needs to be set on when the NFTA_SET_EXPRESSIONS attribute is specified. The NFT_SET_EXPR flag is not set on with NFTA_SET_EXPR to retain backward compatibility in old userspace binaries.
