Pull more power management and ACPI updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"The second batch of power management and ACPI updates for v4.6.
Included are fixups on top of the previous PM/ACPI pull request and
other material that didn't make into it but still should go into 4.6.
Among other things, there's a fix for an intel_pstate driver issue
uncovered by recent cpufreq changes, a workaround for a boot hang on
Skylake-H related to the handling of deep C-states by the platform and
a PCI/ACPI fix for the handling of IO port resources on non-x86
architectures plus some new device IDs and similar.
Specifics:
- Fix for an intel_pstate driver issue related to the handling of MSR
updates uncovered by the recent cpufreq rework (Rafael Wysocki).
- cpufreq core cleanups related to starting governors and frequency
synchronization during resume from system suspend and a locking fix
for cpufreq_quick_get() (Rafael Wysocki, Richard Cochran).
- acpi-cpufreq and powernv cpufreq driver updates (Jisheng Zhang,
Michael Neuling, Richard Cochran, Shilpasri Bhat).
- intel_idle driver update preventing some Skylake-H systems from
hanging during initialization by disabling deep C-states mishandled
by the platform in the problematic configurations (Len Brown).
- Intel Xeon Phi Processor x200 support for intel_idle
(Dasaratharaman Chandramouli).
- cpuidle menu governor updates to make it always honor PM QoS
latency constraints (and prevent C1 from being used as the fallback
C-state on x86 when they are set below its exit latency) and to
restore the previous behavior to fall back to C1 if the next timer
event is set far enough in the future that was changed in 4.4 which
led to an energy consumption regression (Rik van Riel, Rafael
Wysocki).
- New device ID for a future AMD UART controller in the ACPI driver
for AMD SoCs (Wang Hongcheng).
- Rockchip rk3399 support for the rockchip-io-domain adaptive voltage
scaling (AVS) driver (David Wu).
- ACPI PCI resources management fix for the handling of IO space
resources on architectures where the IO space is memory mapped
(IA64 and ARM64) broken by the introduction of common ACPI
resources parsing for PCI host bridges in 4.4 (Lorenzo Pieralisi).
- Fix for the ACPI backend of the generic device properties API to
make it parse non-device (data node only) children of an ACPI
device correctly (Irina Tirdea).
- Fixes for the handling of global suspend flags (introduced in 4.4)
during hibernation and resume from it (Lukas Wunner).
- Support for obtaining configuration information from Device Trees
in the PM clocks framework (Jon Hunter).
- ACPI _DSM helper code and devfreq framework cleanups (Colin Ian

give an idea. Standing out is the i2c-qup driver with lots of new
capabilities and we also have now an i2c-demuxer.
I'd especially like to welcome Peter Rosin as the i2c-mux maintainer.
He has an interesting series for muxes in the queue and agreed to look
after this part of the subsystem. Thank you, Peter, and welcome
again!
The octeon changes were applied pretty recently before the merge
window. I am aware. They are the first (and relatively simple)
patches of a larger overhaul to this driver. In case something goes
wrong with them, they are easy to fix (or revert). The advantage I
see is that they are out of the way, and I can concentrate on the next
block of patches. I really would like to apply the overhaul in
smaller batches to avoid regressions. And waiting a cycle for the
introductory patches seemed too much of a delay for me"

Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij:
"This is the bulk of GPIO changes for kernel v4.6. There is quite a
lot of interesting stuff going on.
The patches to other subsystems and arch-wide are ACKed as far as
possible, though I consider things like per-arch <asm/gpio.h> as
essentially a part of the GPIO subsystem so it should not be needed.
Core changes:
- The gpio_chip is now a *real device*. Until now the gpio chips
were just piggybacking the parent device or (gasp) floating in
space outside of the device model.
We now finally make GPIO chips devices. The gpio_chip will create
a gpio_device which contains a struct device, and this gpio_device
struct is kept private. Anything that needs to be kept private
from the rest of the kernel will gradually be moved over to the
gpio_device.
- As a result of making the gpio_device a real device, we have added
resource management, so devm_gpiochip_add_data() will cut down on
overhead and reduce code lines. A huge slew of patches convert
almost all drivers in the subsystem to use this.
- Building on making the GPIO a real device, we add the first step of
a new userspace ABI: the GPIO character device. We take small
steps here, so we first add a pure *information* ABI and the tool
"lsgpio" that will list all GPIO devices on the system and all
lines on these devices.
We can now discover GPIOs properly from userspace. We still have
not come up with a way to actually *use* GPIOs from userspace.
- To encourage people to use the character device for the future, we
have it always-enabled when using GPIO. The old sysfs ABI is still
opt-in (and can be used in parallel), but is marked as deprecated.
We will keep it around for the foreseeable future, but it will not
be extended to cover ever more use cases.
Cleanup:
- Bjorn Helgaas removed a whole slew of per-architecture <asm/gpio.h>
includes.
This dates back to when GPIO was an opt-in feature and no shared
library even existed: just a header file with proper prototypes was
provided and all semantics were up to the arch to implement. These
patches make the GPIO chip even more a proper device and cleans out
leftovers of the old in-kernel API here and there.
Still some cruft is left but it's very little now.
- There is still some clamping of return values for .get() going on,
but we now return sane values in the vast majority of drivers and
the errorpath is sanitized. Some patches for powerpc, blackfin and
unicore still drop in.
- We continue to switch the ARM, MIPS, blackfin, m68k local GPIO
implementations to use gpiochip_add_data() and cut down on code
lines.
- MPC8xxx is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers.
- ATH79 is converted to use the generic GPIO helpers.

The Qualcomm Technologies HIDMA device has been designed to support
virtualization technology. The driver has been divided into two to follow
the hardware design.
1. HIDMA Management driver
2. HIDMA Channel driver
Each HIDMA HW consists of multiple channels. These channels share some set
of common parameters. These parameters are initialized by the management
driver during power up. Same management driver is used for monitoring the
execution of the channels. Management driver can change the performance
behavior dynamically such as bandwidth allocation and prioritization.
The management driver is executed in host context and is the main
management entity for all channels provided by the device.

Switch attribute wakeup_data from binary to a text attribute.
This makes it easier to handle in userspace and allows to
use the output of tools like mode2 almost as is to set a
wakeup sequence.
Changing to a text format and values in microseconds also
makes the userspace interface independent of the setting of
SAMPLE_PERIOD in the driver.
In addition document the new sysfs attribute in
Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-class-rc-nuvoton.

This attribute is exported to user space to disable the link
throughput auto-detection by setting a fixed value.
The throughput override value is used when batman-adv is
computing the link throughput towards a neighbour.
If the value is set to 0 then batman-adv will try to detect
the throughput by itself.

This parameter can be set individually on each interface and
allows the configuration of the elp interval for the link
quality measurements during runtime. Usually it is desirable
to set it to a higher (= slower) value on interfaces which
have a more static characteristic (e.g. wired interfaces)
or very dense neighbourhoods to reduce overhead.
Developed by Linus during a 6 months trainee study period in
Ascom (Switzerland) AG.

This patch introduces lifetime IO write statistics exposed to the sysfs interface.
The write IO amount is obtained from block layer, accumulated in the file system and
stored in the hot node summary of checkpoint.

This patch exports a new sysfs entry 'dirty_nat_ratio' to control threshold
of dirty nat entries, if current ratio exceeds configured threshold,
checkpoint will be triggered in f2fs_balance_fs_bg for flushing dirty nats.

Add IMA policy support for measuring/appraising the kexec image and
initramfs. Two new IMA policy identifiers KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK and
KEXEC_INITRAMFS_CHECK are defined.
Example policy rules:

Moving the enumeration to the vfs layer simplified the patches, allowing

This driver allows an I2C bus to switch between multiple masters. This
is not hot-switching because connected I2C slaves will be
re-instantiated. It is meant to select the best I2C core at runtime once
the task is known. Example: Prefer i2c-gpio over another I2C core
because of HW errata affecting your use case.

Each fw_cfg entry of type "file" has an associated 56-char,
nul-terminated ASCII string which represents its name. While
the fw_cfg device doesn't itself impose any specific naming
convention, QEMU developers have traditionally used path name
semantics (i.e. "etc/acpi/rsdp") to descriptively name the
various fw_cfg "blobs" passed into the guest.
This patch attempts, on a best effort basis, to create a
directory hierarchy representing the content of fw_cfg file
names, under /sys/firmware/qemu_fw_cfg/by_name.
Upon successful creation of all directories representing the
"dirname" portion of a fw_cfg file, a symlink will be created
to represent the "basename", pointing at the appropriate
/sys/firmware/qemu_fw_cfg/by_key entry. If a file name is not
suitable for this procedure (e.g., if its basename or dirname
components collide with an already existing dirname component
or basename, respectively) the corresponding fw_cfg blob is
skipped and will remain available in sysfs only by its selector
key value.

Make fw_cfg entries of type "file" available via sysfs. Entries
are listed under /sys/firmware/qemu_fw_cfg/by_key, in folders
named after each entry's selector key. Filename, selector value,
and size read-only attributes are included for each entry. Also,
a "raw" attribute allows retrieval of the full binary content of
each entry.
The fw_cfg device can be instantiated automatically from ACPI or
the Device Tree, or manually by using a kernel module (or command
line) parameter, with a syntax outlined in the documentation file.

This patch adds last time that user requested filesystem operations.
This information is used to detect whether system is idle or not later.

MCP4726 is a single channel 12-bit DAC. We can support MCP4726 with
a little changes to mcp4725 driver. In power-down mode, they have
different selection of VOUT pull-down registers.
MCP4726 also has features:
- Output gain options: 1x, 2x
- Voltage reference selection: VDD, VREF (Unbuffered or Buffered)
But these are not supported in this change. (1x gain, VDD is selected)

This patch adds following attributes to watchdog device's sysfs interface
to read its different status.
* state - reads whether device is active or not
* identity - reads Watchdog device's identity string.
* timeout - reads current timeout.
* timeleft - reads timeleft before watchdog generates a reset
* bootstatus - reads status of the watchdog device at boot
* status - reads watchdog device's internal status bits
* nowayout - reads whether nowayout feature was set or not
Testing with iTCO_wdt:
# cd /sys/class/watchdog/watchdog1/
# ls
bootstatus dev device identity nowayout power state
subsystem timeleft timeout uevent
# cat identity
iTCO_wdt
# cat timeout

Users would like to control the behaviour of rdma_cm.
For example, old applications which don't set the
required RoCE gid type could be executed on RoCE V2
network types. In order to support this configuration,
we implement a configfs for rdma_cm.
In order to use the configfs, one needs to mount it and
mkdir <IB device name> inside rdma_cm directory.
The patch adds support for a single configuration file,
default_roce_mode. The mode can either be "IB/RoCE v1" or
"RoCE v2".

This patch set adds attributes of net device and gid type to each GID
in the GID table. Users that use verbs directly need to specify
the GID index. Since the same GID could have different types or
associated net devices, users should have the ability to query the
associated GID attributes. Adding these attributes to sysfs.
