2023-10-10ASoC: dt-bindings: cirrus,cs42l43: Update values for bias senseCharles Keepax
Due to an error in the datasheet the bias sense values currently don't match the hardware. Whilst this is a change to the binding no devices have yet shipped so updating the binding will not cause any issues. 2023-08-23Add I2S support for the StarFive JH7110 SoCMark Brown
Merge series from Xingyu Wu <xingyu.wu@starfivetech.com>: This patch series adds I2S support for the StarFive JH7110 RISC-V SoC based on Designware I2S controller. There has three I2S channels (RX/TX0/TX1) on the JH7110 SoC, one of which is for record(RX) and two for playback(TX). The first patch adds support for the StarFive JH7110 SoC in the Designware I2S bindings. The second patch adds the ops to get data from platform bus in the I2S driver. The third patch adds support for the StarFive JH7110 SoC in the Designware I2S driver. The fourth patch fixes the name of I2STX1 pinmux. The last patch adds device node of I2S RX/TX0/TX1 in JH7110 dts. This patch series is based on Linux-next(20230818) which is merge clock, syscon and dma nodes for the StarFive JH7110 SoC. The series has been tested and works normally on the VisionFive 2 board by plugging an audio expansion board.
2023-08-23ASoC: dt-bindings: snps,designware-i2s: Add StarFive JH7110 SoC supportXingyu Wu
Add the StarFive JH7110 (TX0/TX1/RX channel) SoC support in the bindings of Designware I2S controller. The I2S controller needs two reset items to work properly on the JH7110 SoC. And TX0 channel as master mode needs 5 clock items and TX1/RX channels as slave mode need 9 clock items on the JH7110 SoC. The RX channel needs System Register Controller property to enable it and other platforms do not need it. Rob mentioned that "definitions" vs "$defs". But I got error on "$defs", no error on "definitions". I believe this change is not mandatory. He also mentioned that "reg" is missing, but I also believe that "reg" is automatically handled somehow/somewhere (I'm not sure detail, but other reviewer indicated it before). He also mentioned that "ports" and "port", but added new "ports" needs special handling. Using "ports" vs "port" are different, not compatible on this driver. This means we need both on Doc. Thus, there is no update for these.

2023-07-20ASoC: dt-bindings: pm8916-analog-codec: Drop invalid mclkStephan Gerhold
The audio codec typically used for the MSM8916 SoC is split into two parts: the digital codec is part of the SoC, while the analog codec is part of the PM8916 PMIC. The analog codec in the PMIC has no direct connection to the mclk of the SoC (GCC_CODEC_DIGCODEC_CLK). As the name of the clock suggests this is supplied to the digital part of the codec. During playback it will use this clock to transmit the audio data via the "CDC PDM" pins to the PMIC. In this case the analog codec indirectly receives the clock signal through the digital codec. GCC_CODEC_DIGCODEC_CLK is already managed by the driver of the digital part of the codec in the SoC. Having this clock on the analog PMIC part additionally is redundant and incorrect because the analog codec cannot receive the clock signal without going through the digital codec. 2023-07-20ASoC: dt-bindings: pm8916-analog-codec: Drop pointless reg-namesStephan Gerhold
pm8916-wcd-analog-codec has just a single reg region, so having a name for it provides no additional value. Drop it completely from the schema and example. There is not really any point in keeping it (even as deprecated) because it was never used. In old DTBs it will just be ignored as before. 2023-07-20ASoC: dt-bindings: pm8916-analog-codec: Fix misleading exampleStephan Gerhold
SPMI devices typically have a single address cell and no size cell, i.e. reg = <0xf000> for the audio codec instead of reg = <0xf000 0x200>. The example is a bit misleading because it uses the latter. Copying this into the device tree would be incorrect and was fixed before for pm8916.dtsi in commit c2f0cbb57dba ("arm64: dts: qcom: pm8916: Remove invalid reg size from wcd_codec"). Make the example more clear by adding the outer "pmic" node which specifies the same #address/size-cells that would be used in the real deivce tree. 2023-07-12Add support for IIO devices in ASoCMark Brown
Merge series from Herve Codina <herve.codina@bootlin.com>: Several weeks ago, I sent a series [1] for adding a potentiometer as an auxiliary device in ASoC. The feedback was that the potentiometer should be directly handled in IIO (as other potentiometers) and something more generic should be present in ASoC in order to have a binding to import some IIO devices into sound cards. The series related to the IIO potentiometer device is already applied. This series introduces audio-iio-aux. Its goal is to offer the binding between IIO and ASoC. It exposes attached IIO devices as ASoC auxiliary devices and allows to control them through mixer controls. On my system, the IIO device is a potentiometer and it is present in an amplifier design present in the audio path.
