2023-10-23wifi: mac80211: rename ieee80211_tx_status() to ieee80211_tx_status_skb()Kalle Valo
make htmldocs warns: Documentation/driver-api/80211/mac80211:109: ./include/net/mac80211.h:5170: WARNING: Duplicate C declaration, also defined at mac80211:1117. Declaration is '.. c:function:: void ieee80211_tx_status (struct ieee80211_hw *hw, struct sk_buff *skb)'. This is because there's a function named ieee80211_tx_status() and a struct named ieee80211_tx_status. This has been discussed previously but no solution found: https://lore.kernel.org/all/20220521114629.6ee9fc06@coco.lan/ There's also a bug open for three years with no solution in sight: https://github.com/sphinx-doc/sphinx/pull/8313 So I guess we have no other solution than to a workaround this in the code, for example to rename the function to ieee80211_tx_status_skb() to avoid the name conflict. I got the idea for the name from ieee80211_tx_status_noskb() in which the skb is not provided as an argument, instead with ieee80211_tx_status_skb() the skb is provided. Compile tested only. 2020-10-08docs: net: 80211: reduce docs build timeMauro Carvalho Chehab
the files under /80211 calls kernel-doc script 207 times, one for each single function and doc chapter. Due to that, it takes a lot of time handling it: $ touch Documentation/driver-api/80211/*rst && time make SPHINXDIRS=driver-api/80211 htmldocs ... real 0m22,928s user 0m21,644s sys 0m1,334s Reduce the build time by doing only one kernel-doc call per functions that belong to the same group. With that, there's now 50 calls to kernel-doc, which makes the build time for those docs 62% faster: $ touch Documentation/driver-api/80211/*rst && time make SPHINXDIRS=driver-api/80211 htmldocs ... real 0m8,666s user 0m8,084s sys 0m0,642s As a side effect, it should now be easier to add newer functions, as there's no need to repeat the kernel-doc pattern. Measurements made on a NUC8i7HNK machine with lots of ram and a fast SSD disk with Sphinx 3.2.1. 2020-03-20docs: prevent warnings due to autosectionlabelMauro Carvalho Chehab
Changeset 58ad30cf91f0 ("docs: fix reference to core-api/namespaces.rst") enabled a new feature at Sphinx: it will now generate index for each document title, plus to each chapter inside it. There's a drawback, though: one document cannot have two sections with the same name anymore. A followup patch will change the logic of autosectionlabel to avoid most creating references for every single section title, but still we need to be able to reference the chapters inside a document. There are a few places where there are two chapters with the same name. This patch renames one of the chapters, in order to avoid symbol conflict within the same document. PS.: as I don't speach Chinese, I had some help from a friend (Wen Liu) at the Chinese translation for "publishing patches" for this document: Documentation/translations/zh_CN/process/5.Posting.rst Fixes: 58ad30cf91f0 ("docs: fix reference to core-api/namespaces.rst") Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/2bffb91e4a63d41bf5fae1c23e1e8b3bba0b8806.1584716446.git.mchehab+huawei@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>
2019-07-17docs: remove extra conf.py filesMauro Carvalho Chehab
Now that the latex_documents are handled automatically, we can remove those extra conf.py files. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+samsung@kernel.org>
2019-06-14mac80211: call rate_control_send_low() internallyJohannes Berg
There's no rate control algorithm that *doesn't* want to call it internally, and calling it internally will let us modify its behaviour in the future. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2019-02-01mac80211: fix missing/malformed documentationJohannes Berg
Fix the missing and malformed documentation that kernel-doc and sphinx warn about. While at it, also add some things to the docs to fix missing links. Sadly, the only way I could find to fix this was to add some trailing whitespace. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-09-21cfg80211: remove unused function ieee80211_data_from_8023()Johannes Berg
This function hasn't been used since the removal of iwmc3200wifi in 2012. It also appears to have a bug when qos=True, since then it'll copy uninitialized stack memory to the SKB. Just remove the function entirely. Reported-by: Jouni Malinen <j@w1.fi> Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-03-31cfg80211: add intro to documentationJohannes Berg
This introduction section should be used in the documentation, do that at the beginning of the cfg80211 chapter. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>
2017-03-31cfg80211: Use a structure to pass connect response paramsVidyullatha Kanchanapally
Currently the connect event from driver takes all the connection response parameters as arguments. With support for new features these response parameters can grow. Use a structure to pass these parameters rather than passing them as function arguments. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jberg/mac80211-next Johannes Berg says: ==================== For 4.11, we seem to have more than in the past few releases: * socket owner support for connections, so when the wifi manager (e.g. wpa_supplicant) is killed, connections are torn down - wpa_supplicant is critical to managing certain operations, and can opt in to this where applicable * minstrel & minstrel_ht updates to be more efficient (time and space) * set wifi_acked/wifi_acked_valid for skb->destructor use in the kernel, which was already available to userspace * don't indicate new mesh peers that might be used if there's no room to add them * multicast-to-unicast support in mac80211, for better medium usage (since unicast frames can use *much* higher rates, by ~3 orders of magnitude) * add API to read channel (frequency) limitations from DT * add infrastructure to allow randomizing public action frames for MAC address privacy (still requires driver support) * many cleanups and small improvements/fixes across the board ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
