2019-01-07Documentation/CodingStyle: Use directory-local variables for emacs settingsBart Van Assche
In emacs 23.1 support for directory-local variables was added (see also https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/info-gnu-emacs/2009-07/msg00000.html). Simplify the settings in coding-style.rst by using that feature. Additionally, do not inherit any settings from emacs' linux coding style to minimize dependencies on the version of emacs that is being used. I have verified with several large and nontrivial kernel source files that the new settings format code according to what checkpatch expects. 2018-06-15docs: Fix some broken referencesMauro Carvalho Chehab
As we move stuff around, some doc references are broken. Fix some of them via this script: ./scripts/documentation-file-ref-check --fix Manually checked if the produced result is valid, removing a few false-positives. 2018-05-04MAINTAINERS & files: Canonize the e-mails I use at filesMauro Carvalho Chehab
From now on, I'll start using my @kernel.org as my development e-mail. As such, let's remove the entries that point to the old mchehab@s-opensource.com at MAINTAINERS file. For the files written with a copyright with mchehab@s-opensource, let's keep Samsung on their names, using mchehab+samsung@kernel.org, in order to keep pointing to my employer, with sponsors the work. For the files written before I join Samsung (on July, 4 2013), let's just use mchehab@kernel.org. For bug reports, we can simply point to just kernel.org, as this will reach my mchehab+samsung inbox anyway. 2018-01-16kallsyms: remove print_symbol() functionSergey Senozhatsky
No more print_symbol()/__print_symbol() users left, remove these symbols. It was a very old API that encouraged people use continuous lines. It had been obsoleted by %pS format specifier in a normal printk() call. 2017-09-22pinctrl/gpio: Unify namespace for cross-callsLinus Walleij
The pinctrl_request_gpio() and pinctrl_free_gpio() break the nice namespacing in the other cross-calls like pinctrl_gpio_foo(). Just rename them and all references so we have one namespace with all cross-calls under pinctrl_gpio_*(). Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>

2016-11-19docs-rst: doc-guide: split the kernel-documentation.rst contentsMauro Carvalho Chehab
