2023-06-21ARM: dts: Move .dts files to vendor sub-directoriesRob Herring
The arm dts directory has grown to 1559 boards which makes it a bit unwieldy to maintain and use. Past attempts stalled out due to plans to move .dts files out of the kernel tree. Doing that is no longer planned (any time soon at least), so let's go ahead and group .dts files by vendors. This move aligns arm with arm64 .dts file structure. There's no change to dtbs_install as the flat structure is maintained on install. The naming of vendor directories is roughly in this order of preference: - Matching original and current SoC vendor prefix/name (e.g. ti, qcom) - Current vendor prefix/name if still actively sold (SoCs which have been aquired) (e.g. nxp/imx) - Existing platform name for older platforms not sold/maintained by any company (e.g. gemini, nspire) The whole move was scripted with the exception of MAINTAINERS and a few makefile fixups. 2023-04-03ARM: dts: exynos: replace mshc0 alias with mmc-ddr-1_8v propertyHenrik Grimler
Previously, the mshc0 alias has been necessary so that MMC_CAP_1_8V_DDR | MMC_CAP_8_BIT_DATA are set for mshc_0/mmc_0. However, these capabilities should be described in the device tree so that we do not have to rely on the alias. The property mmc-ddr-1_8v replaces MMC_CAP_1_8V_DDR, while bus_width = <8>, which is already set for all the mshc0/mmc0 nodes, replaces MMC_CAP_8_BIT_DATA. Also drop other mshc aliases as they are not needed. The entire work consists of three parts but everything should be merged at once to avoid dtschema check errors: 1. Samsung pinctrl driver change necessary to accept new DTS (driver depends on node names and this has to be adjusted because of dtschema). 2. Conversion to dtschema which brings requirement of different naming of the GPIO nodes. 3. DTS commits depending on driver (1) above, which convert all GPIO pin bank names to new naming, required by dtschema. This also includes few cleanups around DTS which are here to avoid any merge conflicts. The Samsung pinctrl driver changes are backwards compatible. Using node paths to extend or override a device tree node is error prone. If there was a typo error, a new node will be created instead of extending the existing node. This will lead to run-time errors that could be hard to detect. A mistyped label on the other hand, will cause a dtc compile error (during build time). 2019-12-11ARM: dts: exynos: Add missing CPU frequencies for Exynos5422/5800Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
Add missing 2.0GHz, 1.9GHz & 1.8GHz OPPs (for A15 cores) and 1.4GHz OPP (for A7 cores). Also update common Odroid-XU3 Lite/XU3/XU4 thermal cooling maps to account for new OPPs. Since some new OPPs are not available on all Exynos5422/5800 boards modify dts files for Odroid XU3 Lite (limited to 1.8 GHz / 1.3 GHz) & Peach Pi (limited to 2.0 GHz / 1.3 GHz) accordingly. This patch uses maximum voltages for new OPPs. This is a temporary solution till proper Exynos ASV support is added. Also while at it fix the number of cooling down steps for big cores (should be 11 instead of 12 on Odroid XU3 Lite and 14 on XU3/XU4). 2019-10-02ARM: dts: exynos: Add support ARM architected timers on Exynos5Marek Szyprowski
All CortexA7/A15 based Exynos5 SoCs have ARM architected timers, so enable support for them directly in the base dtsi. None of the known firmware properly configures CNTFRQ arch timer register, so force clock frequency to 24MHz, which is the only configuration supported by the remaining clock drivers so far. Stock firmware for Peach Pit and Pi Chromebooks also doesn't reset properly other arch timer registers, so add respective properties indicating that. Other Exynos5-based boards behaves correctly in this area, what finally allows to enable support for KVM-based virtualization. 2019-09-02ARM: dts: exynos: Mark LDO10 as always-on on Peach Pit/Pi ChromebooksMarek Szyprowski
Commit aff138bf8e37 ("ARM: dts: exynos: Add TMU nodes regulator supply for Peach boards") assigned LDO10 to Exynos Thermal Measurement Unit, but it turned out that it supplies also some other critical parts and board freezes/crashes when it is turned off. The mentioned commit made Exynos TMU a consumer of that regulator and in typical case Exynos TMU driver keeps it enabled from early boot. However there are such configurations (example is multi_v7_defconfig), in which some of the regulators are compiled as modules and are not available from early boot. In such case it may happen that LDO10 is turned off by regulator core, because it has no consumers yet (in this case consumer drivers cannot get it, because the supply regulators for it are not yet available). This in turn causes the board to crash. This patch restores 'always-on' property for the LDO10 regulator. Regulators, which are marked as 'on-in-suspend' seems to be critical for board operation, thus they must not be disabled anytime. This can be only assured by marking them as 'always-on', because otherwise some actions of their clients might result in turning them off. This patch restores suspend/resume operation on Peach-Pit Chromebook board. It partially reverts 'always-on' property removal done by the commit mentioned in the Fixes tag. 2017-05-15ARM: dts: exynos: Remove MFC reserved buffersMarek Szyprowski
During my research I found that some of the requirements for the memory buffers for MFC v6+ devices were blindly copied from the previous (v5) version and simply turned out to be excessive. The relaxed requirements are applied by the recent patches to the MFC driver and the driver is now fully functional even without the reserved memory blocks for all v6+ variants. This patch removes those reserved memory nodes from all boards having MFC v6+ hardware block. The exynos-hdmi driver uses "hpd" for HDMI hot plug detection. static int hdmi_resources_init(struct hdmi_context *hdata) { ... hdata->hpd_gpio = devm_gpiod_get(dev, "hpd", GPIOD_IN); ... } This calls 'of_find_gpio()' and it generates the GPIO consumer ID by referring GPIO suffix. So 'hpd-gpios' is preferred on getting a GPIO descriptor. However, if the device tree uses 'hpd-gpio', then the exynos-hdmi driver always retries to get a GPIO descriptor because the first GPIO suffix is not 'gpio' but 'gpios'. So you always see the debug message below. of_get_named_gpiod_flags: can't parse 'hpd-gpios' property of node '/soc/hdmi@14530000[0]' Use the preferred property, 'hpd-gpios' instead of 'hpd-gpio'. The regulator always-on property should only be used for regulators that either can't be disabled or the drivers for the client devices are not enabling the regulator and so being disabled due to unused. There are some max77802 regulators in the Peach Pit and Pi boards that are always-on but shouldn't since they are enabled by drivers: BUCK5 is max77802 inl1 supply BUCK7 is max77802 inl{2,10} supply BUCK9 is max77802 inl{3,4,5,7} supply BUCK10 is mmc1 vqmmc supply LDO9 is adc vdd supply This patch removes the always-on property for these regulators. Some regulators should remain always-on even when they are used as input supplies, because these regulators are also used by other components that are not described in the DT, for example: LDO10 is hdmi vdd_osc supply but it's also used as input supply for the Exynos5420 temperature sensor. LDO8 is hdmi vdd and vdd_pll supply but it's also used as supply for the Exynos5420 Display port. BUCK2 and BUCK6 are the vdd supplies for the EAGLE and KFC clusters. Exynos5420 and Exynos5800 boards boot from big core (A15) but Exynos5422 boards choose otherwise: LITTLE core (A7) (on Exynos5422 this is property of the board - configurable by pulling up/down gpg2-1). To make user-visible CPU ordering more consistent the 'cpus' node was overridden by exynos5422-cpus.dtsi. However this is a little bit ugly and error-prone. Overriding the CPU child nodes requires to basically reverse what was done initially in exynos5420.dtsi. Instead, split CPU configuration entirely to separate files which should be included by board DTS. The DT binding for the Exynos DRM Display Port (DP) driver isn't consistent since it uses a phandle to describe the connection between the DP port and the display panel but uses the OF graph ports and endpoints to describe the connection betwen the DP port, a bridge chip and the panel. The Exynos DP driver and the DT binding have been changed to allow also to describe the DP port to panel connection using ports / endpoints (OF graph) so this patch changes the Exynos5800 Peach Pi DT to make it consistent with the Exynos5420 Peach Pit that has a eDP to LVDS chip and uses OF graph too.
