2020-05-11ARM: dts: r8a7740: Add missing extal2 to CPG nodeGeert Uytterhoeven
The Clock Pulse Generator (CPG) device node lacks the extal2 clock. This may lead to a failure registering the "r" clock, or to a wrong parent for the "usb24s" clock, depending on MD_CK2 pin configuration and boot loader CPG_USBCKCR register configuration. This went unnoticed, as this does not affect the single upstream board configuration, which relies on the first clock input only. 2019-12-20ARM: dts: renesas: Group tuples in interrupt propertiesGeert Uytterhoeven
To improve human readability and enable automatic validation, the tuples in the various properties containing interrupt specifiers should be grouped. While "make dtbs_check" does not impose this yet for the "interrupts" property, it does for the "interrupt-map" property, leading to warnings like: pci@ee090000: interrupt-map:0: [0, 0, 0, 1, 5, 0, 108, 4, 2048, 0, 0, 1, 5, 0, 108, 4, 4096, 0, 0, 2, 5, 0, 108, 4] is too long pci@ee0d0000: interrupt-map:0: [0, 0, 0, 1, 5, 0, 113, 4, 2048, 0, 0, 1, 5, 0, 113, 4, 4096, 0, 0, 2, 5, 0, 113, 4] is too long Fix this by grouping the tuples of the "interrupts" and "interrupt-map" properties using angle brackets. 2017-05-15ARM: dts: r8a7740: update PFC node name to pin-controllerSimon Horman
The device trees for Renesas SoCs use either pfc or pin-controller as the node name for the PFC device. This patch is intended to take a step towards unifying the node name used as pin-controller which appears to be the more generic of the two and thus more in keeping with the DT specs. My analysis is that this is a user-visible change to the extent that kernel logs, and sysfs entries change from e6050000.pfc and pfc@e6050000 to e6050000.pin-controller and pin-controller@e6050000. 2015-12-14ARM: shmobile: r8a7740 dtsi: Use "arm,pl390" for GICGeert Uytterhoeven
Replace the "arm,cortex-a9-gic" compatible value for the GIC by "arm,pl390", as the documentation states it is a PL390. This has been confirmed by reading the GICD_IIDR register, which reports 0x0000043b (PL390 = 0x00, ARM = 0x43b). This has no effect on runtime behavior, as currently the GIC driver treats both compatible values the same. 2015-08-05ARM: shmobile: r8a7740 dtsi: Add missing "gpio-ranges" to gpio nodeGeert Uytterhoeven
If a GPIO driver uses gpiochip_add_pin_range() (which is usually the case for GPIO/PFC combos), the GPIO hogging mechanism configured from DT doesn't work: requesting hog GPIO lcd0 (chip r8a7740_pfc, offset 176) failed The actual error code is -517 == -EPROBE_DEFER. The problem is that PFC+GPIO registration is handled in multiple steps: 1. pinctrl_register(), 2. gpiochip_add(), 3. gpiochip_add_pin_range(). Configuration of the hogs is handled in gpiochip_add(): gpiochip_add of_gpiochip_add of_gpiochip_scan_hogs gpiod_hog gpiochip_request_own_desc __gpiod_request chip->request pinctrl_request_gpio pinctrl_get_device_gpio_range However, at this point the GPIO controller hasn't been added to pinctrldev_list yet, so the range can't be found, and the operation fails with -EPROBE_DEFER. To fix this, add a "gpio-ranges" property to the gpio device node, so the range is added by of_gpiochip_add_pin_range(), which is called by of_gpiochip_add() before the call to of_gpiochip_scan_hogs(). 2014-09-09ARM: shmobile: r8a7740: Use SoC-specific 48-bit CMT compat stringSimon Horman
In general Renesas hardware is not documented to the extent where the relationship between IP blocks on different SoCs can be assumed although they may appear to operate the same way. Furthermore the documentation typically does not specify a version for individual IP blocks. For these reasons a convention of using the SoC name in place of a version and providing SoC-specific compat strings has been adopted. Although not universally liked this convention is used in the bindings for a number of drivers for Renesas hardware. The purpose of this patch is to make use of the SoC-specific CMT compat string for the r8a7740 48-bit CMT clock source. Signed-off-by: Simon Horman <horms+renesas@verge.net.au>

2014-04-15ARM: shmobile: r8a7740: drop address cells from GIC nodeLucas Stach
This is likely a copy-and-paste error from the ARM GIC documentation, that has already been fixed. address-cells should have been set to 0, as with the size cells. As having those properties set to 0 is the same thing as not specifying them, drop them completely.
