* Fixed rate and fixed factor clocks do not require an clock-output-names property. * Since 07705583e920fef6 ("clk: shmobile: div6: Make clock-output-names optional") Renesas div6 clocks do not require a clock-output-names property. In the above cases there is only one clock output and its name is taken from that of the clock node. Accordingly, remove the unnecessary clock-output-names properties and as necessary update the node names. Replace the "arm,cortex-a9-gic" compatible value for the GIC by "arm,pl390", as the documentation states it is a PL390. This has been confirmed by reading the GICD_IIDR register, which reports 0x0000043b (PL390 = 0x00, ARM = 0x43b). This has no effect on runtime behavior, as currently the GIC driver treats both compatible values the same. If a GPIO driver uses gpiochip_add_pin_range() (which is usually the case for GPIO/PFC combos), the GPIO hogging mechanism configured from DT doesn't work: requesting hog GPIO lcd0 (chip r8a7740_pfc, offset 176) failed The actual error code is -517 == -EPROBE_DEFER. The problem is that PFC+GPIO registration is handled in multiple steps: 1. pinctrl_register(), 2. gpiochip_add(), 3. gpiochip_add_pin_range(). Configuration of the hogs is handled in gpiochip_add(): gpiochip_add of_gpiochip_add of_gpiochip_scan_hogs gpiod_hog gpiochip_request_own_desc __gpiod_request chip->request pinctrl_request_gpio pinctrl_get_device_gpio_range However, at this point the GPIO controller hasn't been added to pinctrldev_list yet, so the range can't be found, and the operation fails with -EPROBE_DEFER. To fix this, add a "gpio-ranges" property to the gpio device node, so the range is added by of_gpiochip_add_pin_range(), which is called by of_gpiochip_add() before the call to of_gpiochip_scan_hogs(). Add a device node for the DDR3 Bus State Controller (DBSC3). The DBSC3 is located in the A4S PM domain, which must not be powered down, else the system will crash. This has no visible effect for now, as A4S was never turned off anyway because its child PM domain A3SM contains the CPU core. Add a device node for the System Controller, with subnodes that represent the hardware power area hierarchy. Hook up all devices to their respective PM domains. Add a minimal device node for the Coresight-ETM hardware block, and hook it up to the D4 PM domain, so the R-Mobile System Controller driver can keep the domain powered, until the new Coresight code handles runtime PM. According to the datasheet, the operating clock for IIC0 is the HPP (RT Peri) clock, not the SUB (Peri) clock. Both clocks run at the same speed (50 Mhz). This is consistent with IIC0 being located in the A4R PM domain, and IIC1 in the A3SP PM domain. 2014-09-09ARM: shmobile: r8a7740: Use SoC-specific 48-bit CMT compat stringSimon Horman
In general Renesas hardware is not documented to the extent where the relationship between IP blocks on different SoCs can be assumed although they may appear to operate the same way. Furthermore the documentation typically does not specify a version for individual IP blocks. For these reasons a convention of using the SoC name in place of a version and providing SoC-specific compat strings has been adopted. Although not universally liked this convention is used in the bindings for a number of drivers for Renesas hardware. We need three steps to prepare for the new Armadillo reference DT board code: - Split the device list into r8a7740_early_devices used by the old platform data setup (board-armadillo.c) and r8a7740_devices_dt used by both setup variants. - Introduce new r8a7740_init_delay() to be more flexible about calling shmobile_setup_delay(). - For the generic r8a7740 support, we switch to device tree setup for the GIC, the irqpin devices and the I2C controllers. Add generic DT board support for the r8a7740 SoC. SCIF serial ports and timers are kept as regular platform devices. Other on-chip and on-board devices should be configured via the device tree. At this point there is no interrupt controller support in place but such code will be added over time when proper IRQ domain support has been added to INTC.
