2017-02-07ARM: orion: Register DSA switch as a MDIO deviceFlorian Fainelli
Utilize the ability to pass board specific MDIO bus information towards a particular MDIO device thus allowing us to provide the per-port switch layout to the Marvell 88E6XXX switch driver. Since we would end-up with conflicting registration paths, do not register the "dsa" platform device anymore. Note that the MDIO devices registered by code in net/dsa/dsa2.c does not parse a dsa_platform_data, but directly take a dsa_chip_data (specific to a single switch chip), so we update the different call sites to pass this structure down to orion_ge00_switch_init(). 2016-09-14ARM: orion: simplify orion_ge00_switch_initArnd Bergmann
One of the last users of NO_IRQ on ARM is the switch initialization code on orion5x, which sometimes passes a GPIO based IRQ number. However, the driver doesn't actually use this number, and according to Andrew Lunn never will do it for non-DT based machines, so we can simply drop the irq argument. Simplifying it further, we can also drop the static platform_device and instead call platform_device_register_data(), which in turn lets us mark the platform_data structures as __initdata and slightly reduce the memory consumption. 2015-12-07ARM: orion5x: clean up mach/*.h headersArnd Bergmann
This is a simple move of all header files that are no longer included by anything else from the include/mach directory to the platform directory itself as preparation for multiplatform support. The mach/uncompress.h headers are left in place for now, and are mildly modified to be independent of the other headers. They will be removed entirely when ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM gets enabled and they become obsolete. Rather than updating the path names inside of the comments of each header, I delete those comments to avoid having to update them again, should they get moved or copied another time. 2015-12-07ARM: orion: use SPARSE_IRQ everywhereArnd Bergmann
As a preparation for multiplatform support, this moves all the code using plat-orion over to use sparse irq support, which is enabled implicitly for multiplatform. In particular, the hardcoded NR_IRQS macro gets replaced with a machine specific one that is set in the machine descriptor in order to set up a static mapping for all legacy interrupts. 2012-12-24ARM: delete struct sys_timerStephen Warren
Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct, and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization function itself. This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init() function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at: http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg. 2012-05-13ARM: PCI: get rid of pci_std_swizzle()Russell King
Most PCI implementations use the standard PCI swizzle function, which handles the well defined behaviour of PCI-to-PCI bridges which can be found on cards (eg, four port ethernet cards.) Rather than having almost every platform specify the standard swizzle function, make this the default when no swizzle function is supplied. Therefore, a swizzle function only needs to be provided when there is something exceptional which needs to be handled. This gets rid of the swizzle initializer from 47 files, and leaves us with just two platforms specifying a swizzle function: ARM Integrator and Chalice CATS. 2009-03-21dsa: add switch chip cascading supportLennert Buytenhek
The initial version of the DSA driver only supported a single switch chip per network interface, while DSA-capable switch chips can be interconnected to form a tree of switch chips. This patch adds support for multiple switch chips on a network interface. An example topology for a 16-port device with an embedded CPU is as follows: +-----+ +--------+ +--------+ | |eth0 10| switch |9 10| switch | | CPU +----------+ +-------+ | | | | chip 0 | | chip 1 | +-----+ +---++---+ +---++---+ || || || || ||1000baseT ||1000baseT ||ports 1-8 ||ports 9-16 This requires a couple of interdependent changes in the DSA layer: - The dsa platform driver data needs to be extended: there is still only one netdevice per DSA driver instance (eth0 in the example above), but each of the switch chips in the tree needs its own mii_bus device pointer, MII management bus address, and port name array. (include/net/dsa.h) The existing in-tree dsa users need some small changes to deal with this. (arch/arm) - The DSA and Ethertype DSA tagging modules need to be extended to use the DSA device ID field on receive and demultiplex the packet accordingly, and fill in the DSA device ID field on transmit according to which switch chip the packet is heading to. (net/dsa/tag_{dsa,edsa}.c) - The concept of "CPU port", which is the switch chip port that the CPU is connected to (port 10 on switch chip 0 in the example), needs to be extended with the concept of "upstream port", which is the port on the switch chip that will bring us one hop closer to the CPU (port 10 for both switch chips in the example above). - The dsa platform data needs to specify which ports on which switch chips are links to other switch chips, so that we can enable DSA tagging mode on them. (For inter-switch links, we always use non-EtherType DSA tagging, since it has lower overhead. The CPU link uses dsa or edsa tagging depending on what the 'root' switch chip supports.) This is done by specifying "dsa" for the given port in the port array. - The dsa platform data needs to be extended with information on via which port to reach any given switch chip from any given switch chip. This info is specified via the per-switch chip data struct ->rtable[] array, which gives the nexthop ports for each of the other switches in the tree.
