2020-06-09mm: don't include asm/pgtable.h if linux/mm.h is already includedMike Rapoport
Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2. The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported architectures. Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils down to, e.g. static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address) { return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1); } static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address) { return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address); } These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined. For architectures that really need a custom version there is always possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic. These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table accessors to the new header. This patch (of 12): The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h> in the files that include <linux/mm.h>. 2019-08-19m68k: mac: Revisit floppy disc controller base addressesFinn Thain
Rename floppy_type macros to make them more consistent with the scsi_type macros, which are named after classes of models with similar memory maps. The MAC_FLOPPY_OLD symbol is introduced to change the relevant base address from 0x50F00000 to 0x50000000 (consistent with MAC_SCSI_OLD). The documentation for LC-class machines has the IO devices at offsets from $50F00000. Use these addresses for MAC_FLOPPY_LC (consistent with MAC_SCSI_LC) because they may not be aliased elsewhere in the memory map. Add comments with controller type information from 'Designing Cards and Drivers for the Macintosh Family', relevant Developer Notes and http://mess.redump.net/mess/driver_info/mac_technical_notes Adopt phys_addr_t to avoid type casts. Add support for Apple's custom "SCSI DMA" chip. This patch doesn't make use of its DMA capability. Just the PDMA capability is sufficient to improve sequential read throughput by a factor of 5. 2018-07-29m68k: Remove unused set_clock_mmss() helpersArnd Bergmann
Commit 397ac99c6cef ("m68k: remove dead timer code") removed set_rtc_mmss() because it was unused in 2012. However, this was itself the only user of the mach_set_clock_mmss() callback and the many implementations of that callback, which are equally unused. This removes all of those as well. 2018-03-19macintosh/via-pmu68k: Initialize PMU driver with setup_arch and arch_initcallFinn Thain
The PMU watchdog will power down the system if the kernel is slow to start up, e.g. due to unpacking a large initrd. The powerpc version of this driver (via-pmu.c) has a solution for the same problem. Stan's tests showed that PDMA improves sequential read performance by a factor of 5 on a PowerBook 190. Last time I tried this on a PowerBook 520 it didn't work, so let's not enable it there until it can be tested with the present mac_scsi driver. 2017-11-09m68k/mac: Disentangle VIA and OSS initializationFinn Thain
macintosh_config->via_type is meaningless on Mac IIfx (i.e. the only model with OSS chip), so skip the via_type switch statement. Call oss_init() before via_init() because it is more important and because that is the right place to initialize the oss_present flag. On this model, bringing forward oss_init() and delaying via_init() is no problem because those functions are independent. The only requirement here is that oss_register_interrupts() happens after via_init(). That is, mac_init_IRQ() happens after config_mac(). According to Geert Uytterhoeven, nobody has used the old driver on m68k for a long time, so we can now just remove the header file and disallow the driver in Kconfig. All files that used to include asm/rtc.h are now changed so they include the headers that were used implicitly through asm/rtc.h. Designing Cards and Drivers for the Macintosh Family, 3rd ed. on page 310 says that the I/O address space for the Mac LC is $50F0 0000 - $50FF FFFF. The developer notes for the Classic II, LC III and IIvx/IIvi give the same I/O address space. That means I've assigned the wrong platform resources to those Mac models. Fix the scsi_type initialization for the affected models, to restore the SCSI base address to its value prior to Linux 3.18. Make the boot console available to more m68k platforms by leveraging the head.S debug console. The boot console is enabled by the "earlyprintk" command line argument which is how most other architectures do this. This is a change of behaviour for the Mac but does not negatively impact the common use-case which is not debugging. This is also a change of behaviour for other platforms because it means the serial port stays quiet when CONFIG_EARLY_PRINTK is not enabled. This is also an improvement for the common use-case. The IOP driver calls into the OSS driver to enable its IRQ. This undesirable coupling between drivers only exists because the OSS driver doesn't correctly handle all of its machspec IRQs. Fix OSS handling of enable/disable for VIA1 IRQs (8 thru 15) which includes MAC_IRQ_ADB. Back when I implemented pmac_zilog support I redefined IRQ_MAC_SCC incorrectly. Change this to a machspec IRQ so that it works on OSS. Clean up the unused OSS audio IRQ and OSS_IRQLEV_* cruft that only confuses things. Fix the OSS description in macints.c and remove an obsolete comment. Don't enable the VIA1 irq before registering the handler. Revive the old mac_serial_print() routine as mac_early_print(). mac_serial_print() did not function because it did not use the right offsets for its stack arguments. Fix this and make compilation conditional on CONFIG_EARLY_PRINTK instead of the obscure MAC_SERIAL_DEBUG macro. Give mac_early_print() a new string length parameter to fit the early console API. Send output to the framebuffer as well as serial ports. Change the line rate to 38400 baud to match the default for the real (pmac_zilog) serial console.
