2016-05-13MIPS: BCM47xx: Move SPROM driver to drivers/firmware/Rafał Miłecki
Broadcom ARM home routers store SPROM content in NVRAM just like MIPS ones. To share SPROM code we need to move it out of arch/mips/ to some common place. We already have bcm47xx_nvram in firmware path and SPROM should fit there as well. This driver is responsible for parsing SoC configuration data into a struct shared between ssb and bcma buses. This was tested with BCM4706 & BCM5357C0 (BCM47XX) and BCM4708A0 (ARCH_BCM_5301X). 2015-12-16ssb: pick SoC invariants code from MIPS BCM47xx archRafał Miłecki
There is code in ssb fetching "invariants" that is basically a set of board specific data. Every host requires its own implementation of reading function. In ssb we have support for PCI, PCMCIA & SDIO. For some (historical?) reason code reading "invariants" for SoC was placed in arch code and provided by a callback. This is not needed nowadays, so lets move that into ssb. This way we keep all "invariants" functions in a single module making code cleaner. 2015-11-11MIPS: BCM47xx: Fetch board info directly in callback functionRafał Miłecki
This drops another symbol dependency between setup.c and sprom.c which will allow us to make SPROM code a separated module (and share it with ARM). Patch tested on Linksys WRT300N V1. 2015-04-01MIPS: BCM47xx: Move NVRAM header to the include/linux/.Rafał Miłecki
There are two reasons for having this header in the common place: 1) Simplifying drivers that read NVRAM entries. We will be able to safely call bcm47xx_nvram_* functions without #ifdef-s. 2) Getting NVRAM driver out of MIPS arch code. This is needed to support BCM5301X arch which also requires this NVRAM driver. Patch for that will follow once we get is reviewed. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linville/wireless-next John W. Linville says: ==================== pull request: wireless-next 2014-09-22 Please pull this batch of updates intended for the 3.18 stream... For the mac80211 bits, Johannes says: "This time, I have some rate minstrel improvements, support for a very small feature from CCX that Steinar reverse-engineered, dynamic ACK timeout support, a number of changes for TDLS, early support for radio resource measurement and many fixes. Also, I'm changing a number of places to clear key memory when it's freed and Intel claims copyright for code they developed." For the bluetooth bits, Johan says: "Here are some more patches intended for 3.18. Most of them are cleanups or fixes for SMP. The only exception is a fix for BR/EDR L2CAP fixed channels which should now work better together with the L2CAP information request procedure." For the iwlwifi bits, Emmanuel says: "I fix here dvm which was broken by my last pull request. Arik continues to work on TDLS and Luca solved a few issues in CT-Kill. Eyal keeps digging into rate scaling code, more to come soon. Besides this, nothing really special here." Beyond that, there are the usual big batches of updates to ath9k, b43, mwifiex, and wil6210 as well as a handful of other bits here and there. Also, rtlwifi gets some btcoexist attention from Larry. 2014-07-30MIPS: BCM47XX: make reboot more relaiableHauke Mehrtens
The reboot on the BCM47XX SoCs is done, by setting the watchdog counter to 1 and let it trigger a reboot, when it reaches 0. Some devices with a BCM4705/BCM4785 SoC do not reboot when the counter is set to 1 and decreased to 0 by the hardware. It looks like it works more reliable when we set it to 3. As far as I understand the hardware, this should not make any difference, but I do not have access to any documentation for this SoC. It is still not 100% reliable. Pull MIPS updates from Ralf Baechle: "The most notable new addition inside this pull request is the support for MIPS's latest and greatest core called "inter/proAptiv". The patch series describes this core as follows. "The interAptiv is a power-efficient multi-core microprocessor for use in system-on-chip (SoC) applications. The interAptiv combines a multi-threading pipeline with a coherence manager to deliver improved computational throughput and power efficiency. The interAptiv can contain one to four MIPS32R3 interAptiv cores, system level coherence manager with L2 cache, optional coherent I/O port, and optional floating point unit." The platform specific patches touch all 3 Broadcom families. It adds support for the new Broadcom/Netlogix XLP9xx Soc, building a common BCM63XX SMP kernel for all BCM63XX SoCs regardless of core type/count and full gpio button/led descriptions for BCM47xx. The rest of the series are cleanups and bug fixes that are MIPS generic and consist largely of changes that Imgtec/MIPS had published in their linux-mti-3.10.git stable tree. 2011-05-19MIPS: BCM47xx: Register SSB fallback sprom callbackHauke Mehrtens
We are generating the prefix based on the PCI bus address the device is on. This is done like Broadcom does it in their code expect that the the bus number is increased by one. When an other SSB based device without an own SPROM is attached, using the PCI bus to the main SSB based device, the data normally found in the SPROM will be stored in the NVRAM on modern devices. 2010-12-16MIPS: BCM47xx: Swap serial console if ttyS1 was specified.Hauke Mehrtens
Some devices like the Netgear WGT634U are using ttyS1 for default console output. We should switch to that console if it was given in the kernel_args parameters. 2010-12-16MIPS: BCM47xx: Use sscanf for parsing mac addressHauke Mehrtens
Instead of writing own function for parsing the mac address we now use sscanf. 2010-12-16MIPS: BCM47xx: Fill values for b43 into SSB spromHauke Mehrtens
Fill the sprom with all available values from the nvram. Most of these new values are needed for the b43 or b43legacy driver. Parts of this patch have been in OpenWRT for a long time and were written by Michael Buesch. 2010-12-16MIPS: BCM47xx: Do not read config from CFEHauke Mehrtens
The config options read out here are not stored in CFE but only in NVRAM on the devices. Remove reading from CFE and only access the NVRAM. Reading out CFE does not harm but is useless here. 2010-07-05MIPS: BCM47xx: Add NVRAM support devicesWaldemar Brodkorb
When trying to netboot a Linksys WRT54GS WLAN router, the bootup fails, because of following error message: ... [ 0.424000] b44: b44.c:v2.0 [ 0.424000] b44: Invalid MAC address found in EEPROM [ 0.432000] b44 ssb0:1: Problem fetching invariants of chip, aborting [ 0.436000] b44: probe of ssb0:1 failed with error -22 ... The router uses a CFE bootloader, but most of the needed environment variables for network card initialization, are not available from CFE via printenv and even though not via cfe_getenv(). The required environment variables are saved in a special partition in flash memory. The attached patch implement nvram_getenv and enables bootup via NFS root on my router. Most of the patch is extracted from the OpenWrt subversion repository and stripped down and cleaned up to just fix this issue. [Ralf: sorted out header file inclusions. Lots of unneded headers and such that should have been included.] Signed-off-by: Waldemar Brodkorb <wbx@openadk.org> Reviewed-by: Phil Sutter <phil@nwl.cc> To: linux-mips@linux-mips.org Cc: Hauke Mehrtens <hauke@hauke-m.de> Patchwork: http://patchwork.linux-mips.org/patch/1359/ Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>

2008-10-15MIPS: BCM47xx: Use the new SSB GPIO APIAurelien Jarno
This patch simplifies the BCM47xx GPIO code by using the new SSB GPIO API, which does a lot things that were implemented directly in the BCM47xx code. Signed-off-by: Aurelien Jarno <aurelien@aurel32.net> Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>
