2021-06-08mips: ralink: convert to CONFIG_COMMON_CLKArnd Bergmann
ralink only has a very trivial clock implementation, with everything being fixed clocks. Convert it to CONFIG_COMMON_CLK to reduce the number of platforms that rely on legacy clocks. Of course, the clocks really should be read from the device tree instead, but this is a step into that direction. Ralink architecture is making use of the header located in 'arch/mips/include/asm/mach-ralink/pinmux.h' to stablish the mechanisms to make derived SoCs to set its pin functions and groups. In order to move all architecture pinmux into a more accurate place which is 'drivers/pinctrl/ralink' we have to first of all move this file also there with a small modification which creates 'rt2880_pinmux_init' function to allow SoCs pinctrl drivers to pass its configuration to the common code located in 'pinctrl-rt2880.c' file. 2021-04-12staging: mt7621-dts: use valid vendor 'mediatek' instead of invalid 'mtk'Sergio Paracuellos
Vendor listed for mediatek in kernel vendor file 'vendor-prefixes.yaml' contains 'mediatek' as a valid vendor string. Some nodes in the device tree are using an invalid vendor string vfor 'mtk' instead. Fix all of them in dts file. Update also ralink mt7621 related code to properly match new strings. Even there are used in the device tree there are some strings that are not referred anywhere but have been also updated with new vendor name. These are 'mtk,mt7621-wdt', 'mtk,mt7621-nand', 'mtk,mt7621-mc', and 'mtk,mt7621-cpc'. mt7621 has the following memory map: 0x0-0x1c000000: lower 448m memory 0x1c000000-0x2000000: peripheral registers 0x20000000-0x2400000: higher 64m memory detect_memory_region in arch/mips/kernel/setup.c only adds the first memory region and isn't suitable for 512m memory detection because it may accidentally read the memory area for peripheral registers. This commit adds memory detection capability for mt7621: 1. Add the highmem area when 512m is detected. 2. Guard memcmp from accessing peripheral registers: This only happens when a user decided to change kernel load address to 256m or higher address. Since this is a quite unusual case, we just skip 512m testing and return 256m as memory size. 2021-02-04MIPS: ralink: manage low reset linesSander Vanheule
Reset lines with indices smaller than 8 are currently considered invalid by the rt2880-reset reset controller. The MT7621 SoC uses a number of these low reset lines. The DTS defines reset lines "hsdma", "fe", and "mcm" with respective values 5, 6, and 2. As a result of the above restriction, these resets cannot be asserted or de-asserted by the reset controller. In cases where the bootloader does not de-assert these lines, this results in e.g. the MT7621's internal switch staying in reset. Change the reset controller to only ignore the system reset, so all reset lines with index greater than 0 are considered valid. When building xway_defconfig with clang: arch/mips/lantiq/prom.c:82:23: error: array comparison always evaluates to true [-Werror,-Wtautological-compare] else if (__dtb_start != __dtb_end) ^ 1 error generated. These are not true arrays, they are linker defined symbols, which are just addresses. Using the address of operator silences the warning and does not change the resulting assembly with either clang/ld.lld or gcc/ld (tested with diff + objdump -Dr). Do the same thing across the entire MIPS subsystem to ensure there are no more warnings around this type of comparison. Otherwise the main new thing for the common clk framework is that it is selectable in the Kconfig language now. Hopefully this will let clk drivers and clk consumers be testable on more than the architectures that support the clk framework. The goal is to introduce some Kunit tests for the framework. Outside of the core framework we have the usual set of various driver updates and non-critical fixes. The dirstat shows that the new Baikal-T1 driver is the largest addition this time around in terms of lines of code. After that the x86 (Intel), Qualcomm, and Mediatek drivers introduce many lines to support new or upcoming SoCs. After that the dirstat shows the usual suspects working on their SoC support by fixing minor bugs, correcting data and converting some of their DT bindings to YAML. 2020-05-05clk: Allow the common clk framework to be selectableStephen Boyd
Enable build testing and configuration control of the common clk framework so that more code coverage and testing can be done on the common clk framework across various architectures. This also nicely removes the requirement that architectures must select the framework when they don't use it in architecture code. There's one snag with doing this, and that's making sure that randconfig builds don't select this option when some architecture or platform implements 'struct clk' outside of the common clk framework. Introduce a new config option 'HAVE_LEGACY_CLK' to indicate those platforms that haven't migrated to the common clk framework and therefore shouldn't be allowed to select this new config option. mt7621 SoC has its own 'ralink_soc_info' structure with some information about the soc itself. Pcie controller and pcie phy drivers for this soc which are still in staging git tree make uses of 'soc_device_attribute' looking for revision 'E2' in order to know if reset lines are or not inverted. This way of doing things seems to be necessary in order to make things clean and properly. Hence, introduce this 'soc_device' to be able to properly use those attributes in drivers. Also set 'data' pointer points to the struct 'ralink_soc_info' to be able to export also current soc information using this mechanism. 2020-03-05MIPS: Replace setup_irq() by request_irq()afzal mohammed
request_irq() is preferred over setup_irq(). Invocations of setup_irq() occur after memory allocators are ready. Per tglx[1], setup_irq() existed in olden days when allocators were not ready by the time early interrupts were initialized. Hence replace setup_irq() by request_irq(). remove_irq() has been replaced by free_irq() as well. There were build error's during previous version, couple of which was reported by kbuild test robot <lkp@intel.com> of which one was reported by Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de> as well. There were a few more issues including build errors, those also have been fixed. Some versions of SoC MT7621 have three PCI express hosts. Some boards make use of those PCI through the staging driver mt7621-pci. Recently PCI support has been removed from MT7621 Soc kernel configuration due to a build error. This makes imposible to compile staging driver and produces a regression for gnubee based boards. Enable support for PCI again but enable it only if staging mt7621-pci driver is selected. Testing has shown, that when using mainline U-Boot on MT7688 based boards, the system may hang or crash while mounting the root-fs. The main issue here is that mainline U-Boot configures EBase to a value near the end of system memory. And with CONFIG_CPU_MIPSR2_IRQ_VI disabled, trap_init() will not allocate a new area to place the exception handler. The original value will be used and the handler will be copied to this location, which might already be used by some userspace application. The MT7688 supports VI - its config3 register is 0x00002420, so VInt (Bit 5) is set. But without setting CONFIG_CPU_MIPSR2_IRQ_VI this bit will not be evaluated to result in "cpu_has_vi" being set. This patch now selects CONFIG_CPU_MIPSR2_IRQ_VI on MT7620/8 which results trap_init() to allocate some memory for the exception handler. Please note that this issue was not seen with the Mediatek U-Boot version, as it does not touch EBase (stays at default of 0x8000.0000). This is strictly also not correct as the kernel (_text) resides here. 2018-03-22MIPS: ralink: Fix booting on MT7621NeilBrown
Since commit 3af5a67c86a3 ("MIPS: Fix early CM probing") the MT7621 has not been able to boot. This commit caused mips_cm_probe() to be called before mt7621.c::proc_soc_init(). prom_soc_init() has a comment explaining that mips_cm_probe() "wipes out the bootloader config" and means that configuration registers are no longer available. It has some code to re-enable this config. Before this re-enable code is run, the sysc register cannot be read, so when SYSC_REG_CHIP_NAME0 is read, a garbage value is returned and panic() is called. If we move the config-repair code to the top of prom_soc_init(), the registers can be read and boot can proceed. Very occasionally, the first register read after the reconfiguration returns garbage, so add a call to __sync().
