2020-09-04crypto: powerpc/crc-vpmsum_test - Fix sparse endianness warningHerbert Xu
This patch fixes a sparse endianness warning by changing crc32 to __le32 instead of u32: CHECK ../arch/powerpc/crypto/crc-vpmsum_test.c ../arch/powerpc/crypto/crc-vpmsum_test.c:102:39: warning: cast from restricted __le32 Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
2020-08-20crypto: algapi - Remove skbuff.h inclusionHerbert Xu
The header file algapi.h includes skbuff.h unnecessarily since all we need is a forward declaration for struct sk_buff. This patch removes that inclusion. Unfortunately skbuff.h pulls in a lot of things and drivers over the years have come to rely on it so this patch adds a lot of missing inclusions that result from this. 2020-07-22powerpc: Replace HTTP links with HTTPS onesAlexander A. Klimov
Rationale: Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate. Deterministic algorithm: For each file: If not .svg: For each line: If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`: For each link, `\bhttp://[^# \t\r\n]*(?:\w|/)`: If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`: If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions return 200 OK and serve the same content: Replace HTTP with HTTPS. 2020-05-08crypto: lib/sha1 - remove unnecessary includes of linux/cryptohash.hEric Biggers
<linux/cryptohash.h> sounds very generic and important, like it's the header to include if you're doing cryptographic hashing in the kernel. But actually it only includes the library implementation of the SHA-1 compression function (not even the full SHA-1). This should basically never be used anymore; SHA-1 is no longer considered secure, and there are much better ways to do cryptographic hashing in the kernel. Most files that include this header don't actually need it. So in preparation for removing it, remove all these unneeded includes of it. 2020-05-08crypto: powerpc/sha1 - prefix the "sha1_" functionsEric Biggers
Prefix the PowerPC SHA-1 functions with "powerpc_sha1_" rather than "sha1_". This allows us to rename the library function sha_init() to sha1_init() without causing a naming collision. 2020-05-08crypto: powerpc/sha1 - remove unused temporary workspaceEric Biggers
The PowerPC implementation of SHA-1 doesn't actually use the 16-word temporary array that's passed to the assembly code. This was probably meant to correspond to the 'W' array that lib/sha1.c uses. However, in sha1-powerpc-asm.S these values are actually stored in GPRs 16-31. Referencing SHA_WORKSPACE_WORDS from this code also isn't appropriate, since it's an implementation detail of lib/sha1.c. Therefore, just remove this unneeded array. Tested with: export ARCH=powerpc CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-linux-gnu- make mpc85xx_defconfig cat >> .config << EOF # CONFIG_MODULES is not set # CONFIG_CRYPTO_MANAGER_DISABLE_TESTS is not set CONFIG_DEBUG_KERNEL=y CONFIG_CRYPTO_MANAGER_EXTRA_TESTS=y CONFIG_CRYPTO_SHA1_PPC=y EOF make olddefconfig make -j32 qemu-system-ppc -M mpc8544ds -cpu e500 -nographic \ -kernel arch/powerpc/boot/zImage \ -append "cryptomgr.fuzz_iterations=1000 cryptomgr.panic_on_fail=1" Cc: linuxppc-dev@lists.ozlabs.org Cc: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Cc: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> Cc: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Eric Biggers <ebiggers@google.com> Acked-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au> (powerpc) Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
2020-01-09crypto: remove CRYPTO_TFM_RES_BAD_KEY_LENEric Biggers
The CRYPTO_TFM_RES_BAD_KEY_LEN flag was apparently meant as a way to make the ->setkey() functions provide more information about errors. However, no one actually checks for this flag, which makes it pointless. Also, many algorithms fail to set this flag when given a bad length key. Reviewing just the generic implementations, this is the case for aes-fixed-time, cbcmac, echainiv, nhpoly1305, pcrypt, rfc3686, rfc4309, rfc7539, rfc7539esp, salsa20, seqiv, and xcbc. But there are probably many more in arch/*/crypto/ and drivers/crypto/. Some algorithms can even set this flag when the key is the correct length. For example, authenc and authencesn set it when the key payload is malformed in any way (not just a bad length), the atmel-sha and ccree drivers can set it if a memory allocation fails, and the chelsio driver sets it for bad auth tag lengths, not just bad key lengths. So even if someone actually wanted to start checking this flag (which seems unlikely, since it's been unused for a long time), there would be a lot of work needed to get it working correctly. But it would probably be much better to go back to the drawing board and just define different return values, like -EINVAL if the key is invalid for the algorithm vs. -EKEYREJECTED if the key was rejected by a policy like "no weak keys". That would be much simpler, less error-prone, and easier to test. So just remove this flag. 2019-11-13powerpc/crypto: Add cond_resched() in crc-vpmsum self-testChris Smart
The stress test for vpmsum implementations executes a long for loop in the kernel. This blocks the scheduler, which prevents other tasks from running, resulting in a warning. 2019-10-26crypto: powerpc - convert SPE AES algorithms to skcipher APIEric Biggers
Convert the glue code for the PowerPC SPE implementations of AES-ECB, AES-CBC, AES-CTR, and AES-XTS from the deprecated "blkcipher" API to the "skcipher" API. This prevents the kernel from accidentally accessing userspace outside copy_to/from_user(), or ever executing userspace. - KASAN support on 32-bit. - Rework of where we map the kernel, vmalloc, etc. on 64-bit hash to use the same address ranges we use with the Radix MMU. - A rewrite into C of large parts of our idle handling code for 64-bit Book3S (ie. power8 & power9). - A fast path entry for syscalls on 32-bit CPUs, for a 12-17% speedup in the null_syscall benchmark. - On 64-bit bare metal we have support for recovering from errors with the time base (our clocksource), however if that fails currently we hang in __delay() and never crash. We now have support for detecting that case and short circuiting __delay() so we at least panic() and reboot. - Add support for optionally enabling the DAWR on Power9, which had to be disabled by default due to a hardware erratum. This has the effect of enabling hardware breakpoints for GDB, the downside is a badly behaved program could crash the machine by pointing the DAWR at cache inhibited memory. 2019-04-20powerpc/crypto: Use cheaper random numbers for crc-vpmsum self-testGeorge Spelvin
This code was filling a 64K buffer from /dev/urandom in order to compute a CRC over (on average half of) it by two different methods, comparing the CRCs, and repeating. 2018-07-09crypto: shash - remove useless setting of type flagsEric Biggers
Many shash algorithms set .cra_flags = CRYPTO_ALG_TYPE_SHASH. But this is redundant with the C structure type ('struct shash_alg'), and crypto_register_shash() already sets the type flag automatically, clearing any type flag that was already there. Apparently the useless assignment has just been copy+pasted around. So, remove the useless assignment from all the shash algorithms. This patch shouldn't change any actual behavior. 2018-01-12crypto: hash - annotate algorithms taking optional keyEric Biggers
We need to consistently enforce that keyed hashes cannot be used without setting the key. To do this we need a reliable way to determine whether a given hash algorithm is keyed or not. AF_ALG currently does this by checking for the presence of a ->setkey() method. However, this is actually slightly broken because the CRC-32 algorithms implement ->setkey() but can also be used without a key. (The CRC-32 "key" is not actually a cryptographic key but rather represents the initial state. If not overridden, then a default initial state is used.) Prepare to fix this by introducing a flag CRYPTO_ALG_OPTIONAL_KEY which indicates that the algorithm has a ->setkey() method, but it is not required to be called. Then set it on all the CRC-32 algorithms. The same also applies to the Adler-32 implementation in Lustre. Also, the cryptd and mcryptd templates have to pass through the flag from their underlying algorithm. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. In crct10dif_vpmsum() we call enable_kernel_altivec() without first disabling preemption, which is not allowed. It used to be sufficient just to call pagefault_disable(), because that also disabled preemption. But the two were decoupled in commit 8222dbe21e79 ("sched/preempt, mm/fault: Decouple preemption from the page fault logic") in mid 2015. The crct10dif-vpmsum code inherited this bug from the crc32c-vpmsum code on which it was modelled. So add the missing preempt_disable/enable(). We should also call disable_kernel_fp(), although it does nothing by default, there is a debug switch to make it active and all enables should be paired with disables. Turning on crypto self-tests on a POWER8 shows: alg: hash: Test 1 failed for crc32c-vpmsum 00000000: ff ff ff ff Comparing the code with the Intel CRC32c implementation on which ours is based shows that we are doing an init with 0, not ~0 as CRC32c requires. The patch centralizes the XTS key check logic into the service function xts_check_key which is invoked from the different XTS implementations. With this, the XTS implementations in ARM, ARM64, PPC and S390 have now a sanity check for the XTS keys similar to the other arches. In addition, this service function received a check to ensure that the key != the tweak key which is mandated by FIPS 140-2 IG A.9. As the check is not present in the standards defining XTS, it is only enforced in FIPS mode of the kernel.
