2022-12-02riscv/mm: add arch hook arch_clear_hugepage_flagsTong Tiangen
With the PG_arch_1 we keep track if the page's data cache is clean, architecture rely on this property to treat new pages as dirty with respect to the data cache and perform the flushing before mapping the pages into userspace. This patch adds a new architecture hook, arch_clear_hugepage_flags,so that architectures which rely on the page flags being in a particular state for fresh allocations can adjust the flags accordingly when a page is freed into the pool. 2022-11-29riscv: fix race when vmap stack overflowJisheng Zhang
Currently, when detecting vmap stack overflow, riscv firstly switches to the so called shadow stack, then use this shadow stack to call the get_overflow_stack() to get the overflow stack. However, there's a race here if two or more harts use the same shadow stack at the same time. To solve this race, we introduce spin_shadow_stack atomic var, which will be swap between its own address and 0 in atomic way, when the var is set, it means the shadow_stack is being used; when the var is cleared, it means the shadow_stack isn't being used. 2022-11-28riscv: Sync efi page table's kernel mappings before switchingAlexandre Ghiti
The EFI page table is initially created as a copy of the kernel page table. With VMAP_STACK enabled, kernel stacks are allocated in the vmalloc area: if the stack is allocated in a new PGD (one that was not present at the moment of the efi page table creation or not synced in a previous vmalloc fault), the kernel will take a trap when switching to the efi page table when the vmalloc kernel stack is accessed, resulting in a kernel panic. Fix that by updating the efi kernel mappings before switching to the efi page table. 2022-11-18stackprotector: actually use get_random_canary()Jason A. Donenfeld
The RNG always mixes in the Linux version extremely early in boot. It also always includes a cycle counter, not only during early boot, but each and every time it is invoked prior to being fully initialized. Together, this means that the use of additional xors inside of the various stackprotector.h files is superfluous and over-complicated. Instead, we can get exactly the same thing, but better, by just calling `get_random_canary()`. 2022-11-09efi/riscv: libstub: Split off kernel image relocation for builtin stubArd Biesheuvel
The RISC-V build of the EFI stub is part of the core kernel image, and therefore accesses section markers directly when it needs to figure out the size of the various section. The zboot decompressor does not have access to those symbols, but doesn't really need that either. So let's move handle_kernel_image() into a separate file (or rather, move everything else into a separate file) so that the zboot build does not pull in unused code that links to symbols that it does not define. Currently, arm64, RISC-V and LoongArch rely on the fact that struct screen_info can be accessed directly, due to the fact that the EFI stub and the core kernel are part of the same image. This will change after a future patch, so let's ensure that the screen_info handling is able to deal with this, by adopting the arm32 approach of passing it as a configuration table. 2022-11-08mm: remove kern_addr_valid() completelyKefeng Wang
Most architectures (except arm64/x86/sparc) simply return 1 for kern_addr_valid(), which is only used in read_kcore(), and it calls copy_from_kernel_nofault() which could check whether the address is a valid kernel address. So as there is no need for kern_addr_valid(), let's remove it. 2022-10-28riscv: support update_mmu_tlb()Jinyu Tang
Add macro definition to support update_mmu_tlb() for riscv, this function is from commit:7df676974359 ("mm/memory.c:Update local TLB if PTE entry exists"). update_mmu_tlb() is used when a thread notice that other cpu thread has handled the fault and changed the PTE. For MIPS, it's worth to do that,this cpu thread will trap in tlb fault again otherwise. For RISCV, it's also better to flush local tlb than do nothing in update_mmu_tlb(). There are two kinds of page fault that have update_mmu_tlb() inside: 1.page fault which PTE is NOT none, only protection check error, like write protection fault. If updata_mmu_tlb() is empty, after finsh page fault this time and re-execute, cpu will find address but protection checked error in tlb again. So this will cause another page fault. PTE in memory is good now,so update_mmu_cache() in handle_pte_fault() will be executed. If updata_mmu_tlb() is not empty flush local tlb, cpu won't find this address in tlb next time, and get entry in physical memory, so it won't cause another page fault. 2.page fault which PTE is none or swapped. For this case, this cpu thread won't cause another page fault,cpu will have tlb miss when re-execute, and get entry in memory directly. But "set pte in phycial memory and flush local tlb" is pratice in Linux, it's better to flush local tlb if it find entry in phycial memory has changed. Their compiler was relatively recent & supports Zicbom but binutils @ 2.35.2 did not. Our current checks for extension support only cover the compiler, but it appears to me that we need to check both the compiler & linker support in case of "pot-luck" configurations that mix different versions of LD,AS,CC etc. Linker support does not seem possible to actually check, since the ISA string is emitted into the object files - so I put in version checks for that. The checks have gotten a bit ugly since 32 & 64 bit support need to be checked independently but ahh well. As I was going, I fell into the trap of there being duplicated checks for CC support in both the Makefile and Kconfig, so as part of renaming the Kconfig symbol to TOOLCHAIN_HAS_FOO, I dropped the extra checks in the Makefile. This has the added advantage of the TOOLCHAIN_HAS_FOO symbol for Zihintpause appearing in .config. I pushed out a version of this that specificly checked for assember support for LKP to test & it looked /okay/ - but I did some more testing today and realised that this is redudant & have since dropped the as check. For example, Clang 15 supports Zihintpause but GNU bintutils 2.35.2 does not, leading build errors like so: riscv64-linux-gnu-ld: -march=rv64i2p0_m2p0_a2p0_c2p0_zihintpause2p0: Invalid or unknown z ISA extension: 'zihintpause' Add a TOOLCHAIN_HAS_ZIHINTPAUSE which checks if each of the compiler, assembler and linker support the extension. With the T-HEAD C9XX cores being designed before or during the ratification to the SSCOFPMF extension, it implements functionality very similar but not equal to it. It implements overflow handling and also some privilege-mode filtering. While SSCOFPMF supports this for all modes, the C9XX only implements the filtering for M-mode and S-mode but not user-mode. So add some adaptions to allow the C9XX to still handle its PMU through the regular SBI PMU interface instead of defining new interfaces or drivers. To work properly, this requires a matching change in SBI, though the actual interface between kernel and SBI does not change. The main differences are a the overflow CSR and irq number. As the reading of the overflow-csr is in the hot-path during irq handling, use an errata and alternatives to not introduce new conditionals there. Also use arch_initcall for the cpuinfo setup instead, as that now clearly is "architecture specific initialization" and also makes these information available slightly earlier. 2022-10-21RISC-V: KVM: Fix kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_pending() for SstcAnup Patel
The kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_pending() checks per-VCPU next_cycles and per-VCPU software injected VS timer interrupt. This function returns incorrect value when Sstc is available because the per-VCPU next_cycles are only updated by kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_save() called from kvm_arch_vcpu_put(). As a result, when Sstc is available the VCPU does not block properly upon WFI traps. To fix the above issue, we introduce kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_sync() which will update per-VCPU next_cycles upon every VM exit instead of kvm_riscv_vcpu_timer_save(). 2022-10-21RISC-V: Fix compilation without RISCV_ISA_ZICBOMAndrew Jones
riscv_cbom_block_size and riscv_init_cbom_blocksize() should always be available and riscv_init_cbom_blocksize() should always be invoked, even when compiling without RISCV_ISA_ZICBOM enabled. This is because disabling RISCV_ISA_ZICBOM means "don't use zicbom instructions in the kernel" not "pretend there isn't zicbom, even when there is". When zicbom is available, whether the kernel enables its use with RISCV_ISA_ZICBOM or not, KVM will offer it to guests. Ensure we can build KVM and that the block size is initialized even when compiling without RISCV_ISA_ZICBOM. 2022-10-02RISC-V: KVM: Expose Zicbom to the guestAndrew Jones
Guests may use the cbo.inval,clean,flush instructions when the CPU has the Zicbom extension and the hypervisor sets henvcfg.CBIE (for cbo.inval) and henvcfg.CBCFE (for cbo.clean,flush). Add Zicbom support for KVM guests which may be enabled and disabled from KVM userspace using the ISA extension ONE_REG API. Also opportunistically switch the other isa extension checks in kvm_riscv_vcpu_update_config() to riscv_isa_extension_available(). We're about to allow guests to use the Zicbom extension. KVM userspace needs to know the cache block size in order to properly advertise it to the guest. Provide a virtual config register for userspace to get it with the GET_ONE_REG API, but setting it cannot be supported, so disallow SET_ONE_REG. 2022-10-02riscv: Introduce support for defining instructionsAndrew Jones
When compiling with toolchains that haven't yet been taught about new instructions we need to encode them ourselves. Create a new file where support for instruction definitions will evolve. We initiate the file with a macro called INSN_R(), which implements the R-type instruction encoding. INSN_R() will use the assembler's .insn directive when available, which should give the assembler a chance to do some validation. When .insn is not available we fall back to manual encoding. Not only should using instruction encoding macros improve readability and maintainability of code over the alternative of inserting instructions directly (e.g. '.word 0xc0de'), but we should also gain potential for more optimized code after compilation because the compiler will have control over the input and output registers used.
