Pull ARM SoC driver updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"These are all the driver updates for SoC specific drivers. There are a
couple of subsystems with individual maintainers picking up their
patches here:
- The reset controller subsystem add support for a few new SoC
variants to existing drivers, along with other minor improvements
- The OP-TEE subsystem gets a driver for the ARM FF-A transport
- The memory controller subsystem has improvements for Tegra,
Mediatek, Renesas, Freescale and Broadcom specific drivers.
- The tegra cpuidle driver changes get merged through this tree this
time. There are only minor changes, but they depend on other tegra
driver updates here.
- The ep93xx platform finally moves to using the drivers/clk/
subsystem, moving the code out of arch/arm in the process. This
depends on a small sound driver change that is included here as
well.
- There are some minor updates for Qualcomm and Tegra specific
firmware drivers.
The other driver updates are mainly for drivers/soc, which contains a
mixture of vendor specific drivers that don't really fit elsewhere:
- Mediatek drivers gain more support for MT8192, with new support for
hw-mutex and mmsys routing, plus support for reset lines in the
mmsys driver.
- Qualcomm gains a new "sleep stats" driver, and support for the
"Generic Packet Router" in the APR driver.
- There is a new user interface for routing the UARTS on ASpeed BMCs,
something that apparently nobody else has needed so far.
- More drivers can now be built as loadable modules, in particular
for Broadcom and Samsung platforms.
- Lots of improvements to the TI sysc driver for better
suspend/resume support"
Finally, there are lots of minor cleanups and new device IDs for
amlogic, renesas, tegra, qualcomm, mediateka, samsung, imx,
layerscape, allwinner, broadcom, and omap"

Pull ARM SoC DT updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"This is a rather large update for the ARM devicetree files, after a
few quieter releases, with 775 total commits and 47 branches pulled
into this one.
There are 5 new SoC types plus some minor variations, and a total of
60 new machines, so I'm limiting the summary to the main noteworthy
items:
- Apple M1 gain support for PCI and pinctrl, getting a bit closer to
a usable system out of the box.
- Qualcomm gains support for Snapdragon 690 (aka SM6350) as well as
SM7225, 11 new smartphones, and three additional Chromebooks, and
improvements all over the place.
- Samsung gains support for ExynosAutov9, an automotive version of
their smartphone SoC, but otherwise no major changes.
- Microchip adds the SAMA5D29 SoC in the SAMA5 family, and a number
of improvements for the recently added SAMA7 family. The LAN966 SoC
that was added in the platform code does not have dts files yet.
Two board files are added for the older at91sam9g20 SoC
- Aspeed supports two additional server boards using their AST2600 as
BMC, and improves support for qemu models
- Rockchip RK3566/RK3688 gets added, along with six new development
boards using RK3328/RK3399/RK3566, and one Chromebook tablet.
- Two NAS boxes are added using the ARMv4 based Gemini platform
- One new board is added to the Intel Arria SoC FPGA family
- Marvell adds one network switch based on Armada 381 and the new
MOCHAbin 7040 development board
- NXP adds support for the S32G2 automotive SoC, two imx6 based ebook
readers, and three additional development boards, which is notably
less than their usual additions, but they also gain improvements to
their many existing boards
- STmicroelectronics adds their stm32mp13 SoC family along with a
reference board
- Renesas adds new versions of their R-Car Gen3 SoCs and many updates
for their older generations
- Broadcom adds support for a number of Cisco Meraki wireless
controllers, along with two new boards and other updates for
BCM53xx/BCM47xx networking SoCs and the Raspberry Pi boards
- Mediatek improves support for the MT81xx SoCs used in Chromebooks
as well as the MT76xx networking SoCs
- NVIDIA adds a number of cleanups and additional support for more
hardware on the already supported machines

Pull per signal_struct coredumps from Eric Biederman:
"Current coredumps are mixed up with the exit code, the signal handling
code, and the ptrace code making coredumps much more complicated than
necessary and difficult to follow.
This series of changes starts with ptrace_stop and cleans it up,
making it easier to follow what is happening in ptrace_stop. Then
cleans up the exec interactions with coredumps. Then cleans up the
coredump interactions with exit. Finally the coredump interactions
with the signal handling code is cleaned up.
The first and last changes are bug fixes for minor bugs.
I believe the fact that vfork followed by execve can kill the process
the called vfork if exec fails is sufficient justification to change
the userspace visible behavior.
In previous discussions some of these changes were organized
differently and individually appeared to make the code base worse. As
currently written I believe they all stand on their own as cleanups
and bug fixes.
Which means that even if the worst should happen and the last change
needs to be reverted for some unimaginable reason, the code base will
still be improved.
If the worst does not happen there are a more cleanups that can be
made. Signals that generate coredumps can easily become eligible for
short circuit delivery in complete_signal. The entire rendezvous for
generating a coredump can move into get_signal. The function
force_sig_info_to_task be written in a way that does not modify the
signal handling state of the target task (because coredumps are
eligible for short circuit delivery). Many of these future cleanups
can be done another way but nothing so cleanly as if coredumps become
per signal_struct"

coredump: Limit coredumps to a single thread group
coredump: Don't perform any cleanups before dumping core
exit: Factor coredump_exit_mm out of exit_mm

Throughout the OpenRISC kernel port VMA is passed as NULL when flushing
kernel tlb entries. Somehow this was missed when I was testing
c28b27416da9 ("openrisc: Implement proper SMP tlb flushing") and now the
SMP kernel fails to completely boot.
In OpenRISC VMA is used only to determine which cores need to have their
TLB entries flushed.
This patch updates the logic to flush tlbs on all cores when the VMA is
passed as NULL. Also, we update places VMA is passed as NULL to use
flush_tlb_kernel_range instead. Now, the only place VMA is passed as
NULL is in the implementation of flush_tlb_kernel_range.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gfs2/linux-gfs2
Pull gfs2 mmap + page fault deadlocks fixes from Andreas Gruenbacher:
"Functions gfs2_file_read_iter and gfs2_file_write_iter are both
accessing the user buffer to write to or read from while holding the
inode glock.
In the most basic deadlock scenario, that buffer will not be resident
and it will be mapped to the same file. Accessing the buffer will
trigger a page fault, and gfs2 will deadlock trying to take the same
inode glock again while trying to handle that fault.
Fix that and similar, more complex scenarios by disabling page faults
while accessing user buffers. To make this work, introduce a small
amount of new infrastructure and fix some bugs that didn't trigger so
far, with page faults enabled"

Xen-pciback driver was designed to be built for x86 only. But it
can also be used by other architectures, e.g. Arm.
Currently PCI backend implements multiple functionalities at a time,
such as:
1. It is used as a database for assignable PCI devices, e.g. xl
pci-assignable-{add|remove|list} manipulates that list. So, whenever
the toolstack needs to know which PCI devices can be passed through
it reads that from the relevant sysfs entries of the pciback.
2. It is used to hold the unbound PCI devices list, e.g. when passing
through a PCI device it needs to be unbound from the relevant device
driver and bound to pciback (strictly speaking it is not required
that the device is bound to pciback, but pciback is again used as a
database of the passed through PCI devices, so we can re-bind the
devices back to their original drivers when guest domain shuts down)
3. Device reset for the devices being passed through
4. Para-virtualised use-cases support
The para-virtualised part of the driver is not always needed as some
architectures, e.g. Arm or x86 PVH Dom0, are not using backend-frontend
model for PCI device passthrough.
For such use-cases make the very first step in splitting the
xen-pciback driver into two parts: Xen PCI stub and PCI PV backend
drivers.
For that add new configuration options CONFIG_XEN_PCI_STUB and
CONFIG_XEN_PCIDEV_STUB, so the driver can be limited in its
functionality, e.g. no support for para-virtualised scenario.
x86 platform will continue using CONFIG_XEN_PCIDEV_BACKEND for the
fully featured backend driver.

So switch them to be dummy functions:

The flag xen_have_vcpu_info_placement was needed to support Xen
hypervisors older than version 3.4, which didn't support the
VCPUOP_register_vcpu_info hypercall. Today the Linux kernel requires
at least Xen 4.0 to be able to run, so xen_have_vcpu_info_placement
can be dropped (in theory the flag was used to ensure a working kernel
even in case of the VCPUOP_register_vcpu_info hypercall failing for
other reasons than the hypercall not being supported, but the only
cases covered by the flag would be parameter errors, which ought not
to be made anyway).
This allows to let some functions return void now, as they can never
fail.

When moving away RAM pages, there having been a mapping of those is not
a proper indication that instead MMIO should be mapped there. At the
point in time this effectively covers the low megabyte only. Mapping of
that is, however, the job of init_mem_mapping(). Comparing the two one
can also spot that we've been wrongly (or at least inconsistently) using
PAGE_KERNEL_IO here.
Simply zap any such mappings instead.

Marking the page tableas pinned without ever actually pinning is was
probably an oversight in the first place. The main reason for the change
is more subtle, though: The write of the one present entry each here and
in the subsequently allocated L2 table engage a code path in the
hypervisor which exists only for thought-to-be-broken guests: An mmu-
update operation to a page which is neither a page table nor marked
writable. The hypervisor merely assumes (or should I say "hopes") that
the fact that a writable reference to the page can be obtained means it
is okay to actually write to that page in response to such a hypercall.
While there make all involved code and data dependent upon
X86_VSYSCALL_EMULATION (some code was already).

Using __native_set_fixmap() here means guaranteed trap-and-emulate
instances the hypervisor has to deal with. Since the virtual address
covered by the to be adjusted page table entry is easy to determine (and
actually already gets obtained in a special case), simply use an
available, easy to invoke hypercall instead.

Commit f7c90c2aa400 ("x86/xen: don't write ptes directly in 32-bit PV
guests") needlessly (and heavily) penalized 64-bit guests here: The
majority of the early page table updates is to writable pages (which get
converted to r/o only after all the writes are done), in particular
those involved in building the direct map (which consists of all 4k
mappings in PV). On my test system this accounts for almost 16 million
hypercalls when each could simply have been a plain memory write.
Switch back to using native_set_pte(), except for updates of early
ioremap tables (where a suitable accessor exists to recognize them).
With 32-bit PV support gone, this doesn't need to be further
conditionalized (albeit backports thereof may need adjustment).
To avoid a fair number (almost 256k on my test system) of trap-and-
emulate cases appearing as a result, switch the hook in
xen_pagetable_init().
Finally commit d6b186c1e2d8 ("x86/xen: avoid m2p lookup when setting
early page table entries") inserted a function ahead of
xen_set_pte_init(), separating it from its comment (which may have been
part of the reason why the performance regression wasn't anticipated /
recognized while codeing / reviewing the change mentioned further up).
Move the function up and adjust that comment to describe the new
behavior.

In preparation for restoring xen_set_pte_init()'s original behavior of
avoiding hypercalls, make set_pte_mfn() no longer use the standard
set_pte() code path. That one is more complicated than the alternative
of simply using an available hypercall directly. This way we can avoid
introducing a fair number (2k on my test system) of cases where the
hypervisor would trap-and-emulate page table updates.

mips_cm_error_report() extracts the cause and other cause from the error
register using shifts. This works fine for the former, as it is stored
in the top bits, and the shift will thus remove all non-related bits.
However, the latter is stored in the bottom bits, hence thus needs masking
to get rid of non-related bits. Without such masking, using it as an
index into the cm2_causes[] array will lead to an out-of-bounds access,
probably causing a crash.
Fix this by using FIELD_GET() instead. Bite the bullet and convert all
MIPS CM handling to the bitfield API, to improve readability and safety.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux
Pull overflow updates from Kees Cook:
"The end goal of the current buffer overflow detection work[0] is to
gain full compile-time and run-time coverage of all detectable buffer
overflows seen via array indexing or memcpy(), memmove(), and
memset(). The str*() family of functions already have full coverage.
While much of the work for these changes have been on-going for many
releases (i.e. 0-element and 1-element array replacements, as well as
avoiding false positives and fixing discovered overflows[1]), this
series contains the foundational elements of several related buffer
overflow detection improvements by providing new common helpers and
FORTIFY_SOURCE changes needed to gain the introspection required for
compiler visibility into array sizes. Also included are a handful of
already Acked instances using the helpers (or related clean-ups), with
many more waiting at the ready to be taken via subsystem-specific
trees[2].
The new helpers are:
- struct_group() for gaining struct member range introspection
- memset_after() and memset_startat() for clearing to the end of
structures
- DECLARE_FLEX_ARRAY() for using flex arrays in unions or alone in
structs
Also included is the beginning of the refactoring of FORTIFY_SOURCE to
support memcpy() introspection, fix missing and regressed coverage
under GCC, and to prepare to fix the currently broken Clang support.
Finishing this work is part of the larger series[0], but depends on
all the false positives and buffer overflow bug fixes to have landed
already and those that depend on this series to land.
As part of the FORTIFY_SOURCE refactoring, a set of both a
compile-time and run-time tests are added for FORTIFY_SOURCE and the
mem*()-family functions respectively. The compile time tests have
found a legitimate (though corner-case) bug[6] already.
Please note that the appearance of "panic" and "BUG" in the
FORTIFY_SOURCE refactoring are the result of relocating existing code,
and no new use of those code-paths are expected nor desired.
Finally, there are two tree-wide conversions for 0-element arrays and
flexible array unions to gain sane compiler introspection coverage
that result in no known object code differences.
After this series (and the changes that have now landed via netdev and
usb), we are very close to finally being able to build with
-Warray-bounds and -Wzero-length-bounds.
However, due corner cases in GCC[3] and Clang[4], I have not included
the last two patches that turn on these options, as I don't want to
introduce any known warnings to the build. Hopefully these can be
solved soon"

Pull thread_info update to move 'cpu' back from task_struct from Kees Cook:
"Cross-architecture update to move task_struct::cpu back into
thread_info on arm64, x86, s390, powerpc, and riscv. All Acked by arch
maintainers.
Quoting Ard Biesheuvel:
'Move task_struct::cpu back into thread_info
Keeping CPU in task_struct is problematic for architectures that
define raw_smp_processor_id() in terms of this field, as it
requires linux/sched.h to be included, which causes a lot of pain
in terms of circular dependencies (aka 'header soup')
This series moves it back into thread_info (where it came from)
for all architectures that enable THREAD_INFO_IN_TASK, addressing
the header soup issue as well as some pointless differences in the
implementations of task_cpu() and set_task_cpu()'"
* tag 'cpu-to-thread_info-v5.16-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux:
riscv: rely on core code to keep thread_info::cpu updated
powerpc: smp: remove hack to obtain offset of task_struct::cpu
sched: move CPU field back into thread_info if THREAD_INFO_IN_TASK=y
powerpc: add CPU field to struct thread_info
s390: add CPU field to struct thread_info
x86: add CPU field to struct thread_info
arm64: add CPU field to struct thread_info
