We currently don't support dirty rectangles on hardware rotated modes. version 3.5 When DML2 was introduced, it targeted only new DCN versions. For controlling which ASIC should use this new version of DML, it was introduced the using_dml2 attribute. To avoid ambiguities, this commit explicitly sets using_dml2 to false in all ASICs that do not support DML2. 2023-10-09drm/amd/display: Move the memory allocation out of ↵Sebastian Andrzej Siewior
dcn20_validate_bandwidth_fp(). dcn20_validate_bandwidth_fp() is invoked while FPU access has been enabled. FPU access requires disabling preemption even on PREEMPT_RT. It is not possible to allocate memory with disabled preemption even with GFP_ATOMIC on PREEMPT_RT. Move the memory allocation before FPU access is enabled. To preserve previous "clean" state of "pipes" add a memset() before the second invocation of dcn20_validate_bandwidth_internal() where the variable is used. 2023-09-26drm/amd/display: switch DC over to the new DRM logging macrosHamza Mahfooz
For multi-GPU systems it is difficult to tell which GPU a particular message is being printed for and that is undesirable because it complicates debugging efforts. Also, the new macros allow us to enable logging for particular parts of the codebase more selectively (since we no longer need to throw everything at DRM_DEBUG_KMS()). So, for the reasons outlined above we should switch to the new macros. We can accomplish this by using the existing DC_LOGGER code to pass around the relevant `struct drm_device` which will be fed to the new macros in logger_types.h. Also, we must get rid of all instances of the DC_LOG_.*() functions that are currently in amdgpu_dm since we don't use the DC logger there and we can simply refer to the macros directly there instead. 2023-08-30drm/amd/display: update blank state on ODM changesWenjing Liu
When we are dynamically adding new ODM slices, we didn't update blank state, if the pipe used by new ODM slice is previously blanked, we will continue outputting blank pixel data on that slice causing right half of the screen showing blank image. The previous fix was a temporary hack to directly update current state when committing new state. This could potentially cause hw and sw state synchronization issues and it is not permitted by dc commit design. 2023-08-30drm/amd/display: Write flip addr to scratch reg for subvpAlvin Lee
[Description] SubVP needs to "calculate" the earliest in use META address by using the current primary / meta addresses, but this leads to a race condition where FW and driver can read/write the address at the same time and intermittently produce inconsistent address offsets. To mitigate this issue without locking (too slow), save each surface flip addr into scratch registers and use this to keep track of the earliest in use META addres. This increases power usage with multiple displays, but avoids hangs. 2023-08-15drm/amd/display: fix incorrect stream_res allocation for older ASICWenjing Liu
[why] There is a recent work for developing a new pipe resource allocation policy used for new ASIC. The new code change needs to modify asic independent pipe resource allocation flow and hook up the new allocation policy in asic dependent layer. Unfortunately this change revealed a hidden bug in the old pipe resource allocation sequence used for older asics. In the older version of acquiring pipe for layer, we are always assigning otg master's opp and tg to the newly allocated secondary dpp pipe. This logic is incorrect when the secodnary dpp pipe is connected to a secondary opp head pipe in ODM combine configuration. Before the recent change, we will overwrite this wrong assignement in asic independent layer again. This covers up the issue. With the recent change, we will no longer cover up this in upper layer and therefore causes wrong tg and opp assignement to the secondary dpp pipe connected to a secondary opp head. [how] Always assign tg and opp from its own opp head instead of otg master. [WHY&HOW] If surface format is dynamically changed within app without changing timing / whole plane, we don't reprogram gamut remap matrix. Issue example: Linear FP16 scRGB going to PQ+BT.2020 monitor. Remap = scRGB->BT.2020 App switches swapchain format to 10-bit PQ+BT.2020. SW calculates correctly that new Remap = bypass (in=-out=BT.2020). But update not applied in HW. acquire_free_pipe_as_sec_dpp_pipe [why] Secondary DPP pipes are used for rendering secondary layers of planes. The name "for layer" doesn't make it obvious. The function is acquiring a free pipe as secondary dpp pipe only. We rename it so it is more obvious. In a future follow up change, we want to add functions to acquire free pipe as opp head pipe or otg master pipe as well. They will have their separate allocation priority. 2023-08-07drm/amd/display: update add plane to context logic with a new algorithmWenjing Liu
[why] Preivous algorithm for finding an optimal idle pipe for a new plane was implemented to handle dynamic pipe allocation when MPO plane moves from one ODM slice to the other. Now pipe allocation is more static so it no longer depends on the MPO plane's position. We are simplifying our logic and remove unnecessary handling in our code. [how] Apply a new simplified version of pipe resource allocation logic to reduce unnecessary flip delay caused by swapping secondary dpp pipe to other MPC blending tree. 2023-08-07drm/amd/display: fix a regression in blank pixel data caused by coding mistakeWenjing Liu
[why] There was unfortunately a coding mistake. It gets caught with an ultrawide monitor that requires ODM 4:1 combine. We are blanking or unblanking pixel data we are supposed to enumerate through all ODM pipes and program DPG for each of those pipes. However the coding mistake causes us to program only the first and last ODM pipes. 2023-07-10drm/amd/display: Block optimize on consecutive FAMS enablesWesley Chalmers
[WHY] It is possible to commit state multiple times in rapid succession with FAMS enabled; if each of these commits were to set optimized_required, then the user may see latency. [HOW] fw_based_mclk_switching is currently not used in dc->clk_mgr; use it to track whether the current state has FAMS enabled; if it has, then do not disable FAMS in prepare_bandwidth, and do not set optimized_required. 2023-06-30drm/amd/display: Fix the delta clamping for shaper LUTHarry Wentland
The shaper LUT requires a 10-bit value of the delta between segments. We were using dc_fixpt_clamp_u0d10() to do that but it doesn't do what we want it to do. It will preserve 10-bit precision after the decimal point, but that's not quite what we want. We want 14-bit precision and discard the 4 most-significant bytes. To do that we'll do dc_fixpt_clamp_u0d14() & 0x3ff instead. 2023-06-09drm/amd/display: Program OTG vtotal min/max selectors unconditionally for DCN1+Aurabindo Pillai
For FPO/FAMS, DMCUB will try to change the output timings by writing to the OTG registers. However, the timings written directly to the OTG registers will not be honoured unless VMIN/VMAX selector registers are programmed with the right bits and trigger source is selected correctly. Proper solution needs to go into DMCUB but will require additional state tracking to ensure that the selectors are set and reset correctly as per driver state. Until fix is merged into firmware, apply the workaround in driver to unconditionally write OTG vmin/vmax selectors.
