2021-02-25drm/arc: Inline remaining filesDaniel Vetter
At less than 500 lines total feels like the right thing to do. Also noticed that the simple wrapper around drm_connector_cleanup can be dropped. 2021-02-25drm/arc: Inline arcpgu_drm_hdmi_initDaniel Vetter
Really not worth the function, much less the separate file now that almost all the code is gone. 2021-02-25drm/arc: Inline arcpgu_crtc.cDaniel Vetter
Really not big anymore. Note that we no longer clamp all errors to ENODEV, highlighted by Sam. v2: Fixup update function, bug reported by Eugeniy v3: Delete now unused crtc funcs (0day) v4: Move encoder removal to right patch (Sam). 2021-02-25drm/arc: Convert to drm_simple_kms_pipe_helperDaniel Vetter
Really straighforward, only slight issue is that the sim connector is created after the pipe is set up, so can't use the helpers perfectly yet. Subsequent patches will fix that. Aside from lots of deleting code no functional changes in here. v2: Delete now unused crtc funcs (0day) v3: Move endcoder setup removal to right patch (Sam) Acked-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Cc: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Acked-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Cc: Eugeniy Paltsev <Eugeniy.Paltsev@synopsys.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Cc: Alexey Brodkin <abrodkin@synopsys.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20210112084358.2771527-9-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch

Removes the last devm_kzalloc, which means we're now prepared to use drmm_mode_config_cleanup! 2021-02-25drm/arc: Embedded a drm_simple_display_pipeDaniel Vetter
This is a prep step to convert arc over to the simple kms helpers, for now we just use this as an embedding container to drop all the various allocations. Big change is the removal of the various devm_kzalloc, which have the wrong lifetimes anyway. 2021-02-25drm/arc: Stop using drm_device->dev_privateDaniel Vetter
Upcasting using a container_of macro is more typesafe, faster and easier for the compiler to optimize. 2021-02-25drm/arc: Switch to devm_drm_dev_allocDaniel Vetter
- Need to embedded the drm_device, but for now we keep the usual pointer chasing. - No more devm_kzalloc, which fixes a lifetime issues on driver remove. - No more drm_dev_put, that's done by devm_ now. 2018-11-01drm/arc: Use drm_fbdev_generic_setup()Noralf Trønnes
The CMA helper is already using the drm_fb_helper_generic_probe part of the generic fbdev emulation. This patch makes full use of the generic fbdev emulation by using its drm_client callbacks. This means that drm_mode_config_funcs->output_poll_changed and drm_driver->lastclose are now handled by the emulation code. Additionally fbdev unregister happens automatically on drm_dev_unregister(). The drm_fbdev_generic_setup() call is put after drm_dev_register() in the driver. This is done to highlight the fact that fbdev emulation is an internal client that makes use of the driver, it is not part of the driver as such. If fbdev setup fails, an error is printed, but the driver succeeds probing. 2016-06-16Merge tag 'topic/drm-misc-2016-06-15' of ↵Dave Airlie
git://anongit.freedesktop.org/drm-intel into drm-next - best_encoder cleanup from Boris. - drm_simple_display_pipe helpers from Noralf. Looks really neat imo, and there's 2-3 in-flight drivers which look like they could/should use it. Anyway, with this we have now helpers and everything in place to write drivers for simple hw with fewer complexity in the driver than what fbdev would need. That was the last complaint I've heard from embedded folks after we made atomic happen. Mission accomplished! - nonblocking commit helpers for atomic, plus a bunch of driver patches for that. - Prep patch from Laurent for cleaned up pixel format functions. - More of Gustavo's cleanup for drm vblank functions. - and a few oddball things in between Plus the merge of docs-next to prep the docbook->sphinx conversion as discussed. 2016-06-09drm/arc: Nuke event_listDaniel Vetter
This is just used for cleanup in preclose, and with the reworked event handling code this is now done properly by the core. Nuke it! But it also shows that arc totally fails at sending out drm events for flips. Next patch will hack that up. v2: Rebase it!
