2023-06-29drm/i915: use mock device info for creating mock deviceJani Nikula
Instead of modifying the device info on the fly, use static const mock device info. It's not okay to modify device info at runtime; we've added separate runtime info for info that needs to be modified at runtime. We've added safeguards to device info to prevent it from being modified, but commit 5e352e32aec2 ("drm/i915: preparation for using PAT index") just cast the const away and modified it anyway. This prevents device info from being moved to rodata. 2023-05-11drm/i915: preparation for using PAT indexFei Yang
This patch is a preparation for replacing enum i915_cache_level with PAT index. Caching policy for buffer objects is set through the PAT index in PTE, the old i915_cache_level is not sufficient to represent all caching modes supported by the hardware. Preparing the transition by adding some platform dependent data structures and helper functions to translate the cache_level to pat_index. cachelevel_to_pat: a platform dependent array mapping cache_level to pat_index. max_pat_index: the maximum PAT index recommended in hardware specification Needed for validating the PAT index passed in from user space. i915_gem_get_pat_index: function to convert cache_level to PAT index. obj_to_i915(obj): macro moved to header file for wider usage. I915_MAX_CACHE_LEVEL: upper bound of i915_cache_level for the convenience of coding. 2022-09-12drm/i915: Prepare more multi-GT initializationMatt Roper
We're going to introduce an additional intel_gt for MTL's media unit soon. Let's provide a bit more multi-GT initialization framework in preparation for that. The initialization will pull the list of GTs for a platform from the device info structure. Although necessary for the immediate MTL media enabling, this same framework will also be used farther down the road when we enable remote tiles on xehpsdv and pvc. v2: - Re-add missing test for !HAS_EXTRA_GT_LIST in intel_gt_probe_all(). v3: - Move intel_gt_definition struct to intel_gt_types.h. (Jani) - Drop gtdef->setup(). For now we'll just use a switch() based on GT type since we don't have too many different handlers for the foreseeable future. 2022-03-21drm/i915: Prepare for multiple GTsTvrtko Ursulin
On a multi-tile platform, each tile has its own registers + GGTT space, and BAR 0 is extended to cover all of them. Up to four GTs are supported in i915->gt[], with slot zero shadowing the existing i915->gt0 to enable source compatibility with legacy driver paths. A for_each_gt macro is added to iterate over the GTs and will be used by upcoming patches that convert various parts of the driver to be multi-gt aware. Only the primary/root tile is initialized for now; the other tiles will be detected and plugged in by future patches once the necessary infrastructure is in place to handle them. 2020-03-26drm/i915: Use drmm_add_final_kfreeDaniel Vetter
With this we can drop the final kfree from the release function. The mock device in the selftests needed it's pci_device split up from the drm_device. In the future we could simplify this again by allocating the pci_device as a managed allocation too. v2: I overlooked that i915_driver_destroy is also called in the unwind code of the error path. There we need a drm_dev_put. Similar for the mock object. Now the problem with that is that the drm_driver->release callbacks for both the real driver and the mock one assume everything has been set up. Hence going through that path for a partially set up driver will result in issues. Quickest fix is to disable the ->release() hook until the driver is fully initialized, and keep the onion unwinding. Long term would be cleanest to move everything over to drmm_ release actions, but that's a lot of work for a big driver like i915. Plus more core work needed first anyway. v3: Fix i915_drm pointer wrangling in mock_gem_device. Also switch over to start using drm_dev_put() to clean up even on the error path.
