2020-10-09drm/atomic: Pass the full state to CRTC atomic enable/disableMaxime Ripard
If the CRTC driver ever needs to access the full DRM state, it can't do so at atomic_enable / atomic_disable time since drm_atomic_helper_swap_state will have cleared the pointer from the struct drm_crtc_state to the struct drm_atomic_state before calling those hooks. In order to allow that, let's pass the full DRM state to atomic_enable and atomic_disable. 2020-09-25drm/imx/dcss: Initialize DRM driver instance with CMA helper macroThomas Zimmermann
The i.MX DCSS driver uses CMA helpers with default callback functions. Initialize the driver structure with the rsp CMA helper macro. The driver is being converted to use GEM object functions as part of this change. Two callbacks, .gem_prime_export and .gem_prime_import, were initialized to their default implementations, so they are just kept empty now. This adds initial support for iMX8MQ's Display Controller Subsystem (DCSS). Some of its capabilities include: * 4K@60fps; * HDR10; * one graphics and 2 video pipelines; * on-the-fly decompression of compressed video and graphics; The reference manual can be found here: https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=IMX8MDQLQRM The current patch adds only basic functionality: one primary plane for graphics, linear, tiled and super-tiled buffers support (no graphics decompression yet), no HDR10 and no video planes. Video planes support and HDR10 will be added in subsequent patches once per-plane de-gamma/CSC/gamma support is in. The bus_flags handling logic does not seem to cover all potential usecases. Specifically, this seems to fail with an "edt,etm0700g0edh6" display attached to an 24bit display interface, with interface-pix-fmt = "rgb24" set in DT. This patch fixes the problem by overriding the imx_crtc_state->bus_flags from the imxpd->bus_flags only if the DT property "interface-pix-fmt" is present or if the DI provides no formats. 2020-07-20drm/imx: fix use after freePhilipp Zabel
Component driver structures allocated with devm_kmalloc() in bind() are freed automatically after unbind(). Since the contained drm structures are accessed afterwards in drm_mode_config_cleanup(), move the allocation into probe() to extend the driver structure's lifetime to the lifetime of the device. This should eventually be changed to use drm resource managed allocations with lifetime of the drm device. We also need to ensure that all componets are available during the unbind() so we need to call component_unbind_all() before we free non-devres resources like planes. Note this patch fixes the the use after free bug but introduces a possible boot loop issue. The issue is triggered if the HDMI support is enabled and a component driver always return -EPROBE_DEFER, see discussion [1] for more details. Platform glue drivers for dw_hdmi may need to access device-specific data from their .mode_valid() implementation. They currently have no clean way to do so, and one driver hacks around it by accessing the dev_private data of the drm_device retrieved from the connector. Add a priv_data void pointer to the dw_hdmi_plat_data structure, and pass it to the .mode_valid() function. 2020-02-26drm/bridge: Extend bridge API to disable connector creationLaurent Pinchart
Most bridge drivers create a DRM connector to model the connector at the output of the bridge. This model is historical and has worked pretty well so far, but causes several issues: - It prevents supporting more complex display pipelines where DRM connector operations are split over multiple components. For instance a pipeline with a bridge connected to the DDC signals to read EDID data, and another one connected to the HPD signal to detect connection and disconnection, will not be possible to support through this model. - It requires every bridge driver to implement similar connector handling code, resulting in code duplication. - It assumes that a bridge will either be wired to a connector or to another bridge, but doesn't support bridges that can be used in both positions very well (although there is some ad-hoc support for this in the analogix_dp bridge driver). In order to solve these issues, ownership of the connector should be moved to the display controller driver (where it can be implemented using helpers provided by the core). Extend the bridge API to allow disabling connector creation in bridge drivers as a first step towards the new model. The new flags argument to the bridge .attach() operation allows instructing the bridge driver to skip creating a connector. Unconditionally set the new flags argument to 0 for now to keep the existing behaviour, and modify all existing bridge drivers to return an error when connector creation is not requested as they don't support this feature yet. Now that bridges can expose the bus format/flags they expect, we can use those instead of the relying on the display_info provided by the connector (which is only valid if the encoder is directly connected to bridge element driving the panel/display). To facilitate moving connector creation to display drivers, decouple the drm_connector from drm_panel. This patch adds a connector argument to drm_panel_get_modes(). All users of drm_panel_get_modes() already had the connector available, so updating users was trivial. With this patch drm_panel no longer keeps a reference to the drm_connector. We are about to add a drm_bridge_state that inherits from drm_private_state which is defined in drm_atomic.h. Problem is, drm_atomic.h includes drm_crtc.h which in turn includes drm_bridge.h, leading to "drm_private_state has incomplete type" error. Let's force all users of the drm_bridge API to explicitly include drm_bridge.h. Notify drm core before sending pending events during crtc disable. This fixes the first event after disable having an old stale timestamp by having drm_crtc_vblank_off update the timestamp to now.
