2019-11-22drm/mediatek: don't open-code drm_gem_fb_createDaniel Vetter
Aside: There's a few other fb_create implementations which simply check for valid buffer format (or an approximation thereof), and then call drm_gem_fb_create. For atomic drivers at least we could walk all planes and make sure the format/modifier combo is valid, and remove even more code. For non-atomic drivers that's not possible, since the format list for the primary buffer might be garbage (and most likely it is). Also delete mtk_drm_fb.[hc] since it would now only contain one function. Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie: "This is the main pull request for 5.4-rc1 merge window. I don't think there is anything outstanding so next week should just be fixes, but we'll see if I missed anything. 2019-08-19drm/mediatek: mtk_drm_drv.c: Add of_node_put() before gotoNishka Dasgupta
Each iteration of for_each_child_of_node puts the previous node, but in the case of a goto from the middle of the loop, there is no put, thus causing a memory leak. 2019-06-25drm/mediatek: Use drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_fencesDaniel Vetter
If we use the gem fb helper as the prepare_fb hook, plus the drm_prime.c import helpers now automatically setting obj->resv, we can use the shared helpers to wait for fences instead of rolling our own. Note that this relies on mtk setting drm_fb->obj, which is already done in mtk_drm_framebuffer_init(). Aside: Probably can use the default commit_tail with this again, but I didn't check for that. 2019-06-04drm/mediatek: unbind components in mtk_drm_unbind()Hsin-Yi Wang
Unbinding components (i.e. mtk_dsi and mtk_disp_ovl/rdma/color) will trigger master(mtk_drm)'s .unbind(), and currently mtk_drm's unbind won't actually unbind components. During the next bind, mtk_drm_kms_init() is called, and the components are added back. .unbind() should call mtk_drm_kms_deinit() to unbind components. And since component_master_del() in .remove() will trigger .unbind(), which will also unregister device, it's fine to remove original functions called here. 2019-01-24drm: Split out drm_probe_helper.hDaniel Vetter
Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. This will also conflict with ongoing drmP.h cleanup by others I expect. v3: Rebase on top of atomic bochs. v4: Review from Laurent for bridge/rcar/omap/shmob/core bits: - (re)move some of the added includes, use the better include files in other places (all suggested from Laurent adopted unchanged). - sort alphabetically v5: Actually try to sort them, and while at it, sort all the ones I touch. v6: Rebase onto i915 changes. v7: Rebase once more. 2017-06-27drm/mediatek: separate color module to fixup error memory reallocationyt.shen@mediatek.com
Previous patch (c5f228ef6c drm/mediatek: add *driver_data for different hardware settings) calls devm_kfree() and then devm_kzalloc() to reallocate color module data structure. But this reallocation cannnot guarantee the new address is unchanged, but the caller will use the old address, which is wrong. 2017-02-07drm: remove drm_vblank_no_hw_counter assignment from driver codeShawn Guo
Core code already makes drm_driver.get_vblank_counter hook optional by letting drm_vblank_no_hw_counter be the default implementation for the function hook. 2016-10-17drm: Add reference counting to drm_atomic_stateChris Wilson
drm_atomic_state has a complicated single owner model that tracks the single reference from allocation through to destruction on another thread - or perhaps on a local error path. We can simplify this tracking by using reference counting (at a cost of a few more atomics). This is even more beneficial when the lifetime of the state becomes more convoluted than being passed to a single worker thread for the commit. v2: Double check !intel atomic_commit functions for missing gets v3: Update kerneldocs Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> Cc: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Cc: dri-devel@lists.freedesktop.org Reviewed-by: Eric Engestrom <eric.engestrom@imgtec.com> Reviewed-by: Sean Paul <seanpaul@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20161014121833.439-27-chris@chris-wilson.co.uk

2016-08-29drm/atomic-helper: Add NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag support for plane commitLiu Ying
Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC disable callbacks since no one else would do that. 2016-08-08drm/mediatek: Fix mtk_atomic_complete for runtime_pmBibby Hsieh
To properly implement atomic w/ runtime pm, we move drm_atomic_helper_commit_modeset_enables() above drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() to ensure CRTCs are enabled before modifying plane registers, and set active_only to true to filter out plane update notifications when the CRTC is disabled. According to the document from linux kernel: Set the active_only parameters to true in order not to receive plane update notifications related to a disabled CRTC. This avoids the need to manually ignore plane updates in driver code when the driver and/or hardware can't or just don't need to deal with updates on disabled CRTCs, for example when supporting runtime PM. 2016-06-21drm/mediatek: Remove redundant calls to drm_connector_register_all()Chris Wilson
Up to now, the recommendation was for drivers to call drm_dev_register() followed by drm_connector_register_all(). Now that drm_connector_register() is safe against multiple invocations, we can move drm_connector_register_all() to drm_dev_register() and not suffer from any backwards compatibility issues with drivers not following the more rigorous init ordering.
