2020-03-02drm/qxl: Use simple encoderThomas Zimmermann
The qxl driver uses an empty implementation for its encoder. Replace the code with the generic simple encoder. v4: * handle errors returned from drm_simple_encoder_init() v2: * rebase onto new simple-encoder interface Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Acked-by: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20200228081828.18463-5-tzimmermann@suse.de
2020-02-13drm/qxl: replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertenly introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this change: "Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1] This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. A coccicheck run provided information like the following. drivers/gpu/drm/qxl/qxl_kms.c:295:1-7: ERROR: missing iounmap; ioremap on line 178 and execution via conditional on line 185 Generated by: scripts/coccinelle/free/iounmap.cocci A jump target was specified in an if branch. 2019-10-25drm/qxl: stop using TTM to call driver internal functionsChristian König
The ttm_mem_io_* functions were intended to be internal to TTM and shouldn't have been used in a driver. They were exported in commit afe6804c045fbd69a1b75c681107b5d6df9190de just for QXL. Instead call the qxl_ttm_io_mem_reserve() function directly and completely drop the free call since that is a dummy on QXL. 2019-09-11drm/qxl: switch to gem vma offset managerGerd Hoffmann

Rename the embedded struct vma_offset_manager, new name is _vma_manager. ttm_bo_device.vma_manager changed to a pointer. The ttm_bo_device_init() function gets an additional vma_manager argument which allows to initialize ttm with a different vma manager. When passing NULL the embedded _vma_manager is used. 2019-08-23drm/qxl: get vga ioportsGerd Hoffmann
qxl has two modes: "native" (used by the drm driver) and "vga" (vga compatibility mode, typically used for boot display and firmware framebuffers). Accessing any vga ioport will switch the qxl device into vga mode. The qxl driver never does that, but other drivers accessing vga ports can trigger that too and therefore disturb qxl operation. So aquire the legacy vga ioports from vgaarb to avoid that. Reproducer: Boot kvm guest with both qxl and i915 vgpu, with qxl being first in pci scan order. v2: Skip this for secondary qxl cards which don't have vga mode in the first place (Frediano). There is also now the ability if you don't have any of the legacy drivers enabled (pre-KMS) to remove all the pre-KMS support code from the core drm, this saves 10% or so in codesize on my machine. i915 also enable Icelake/Elkhart Lake Gen11 GPUs by default, vboxvideo moves out of staging. There are also some rcar-du patches which crossover with media tree but all should be acked by Mauro. 2019-04-30Revert "drm/qxl: drop prime import/export callbacks"Gerd Hoffmann
This reverts commit f4c34b1e2a37d5676180901fa6ff188bcb6371f8. Simliar to commit a0cecc23cfcb Revert "drm/virtio: drop prime import/export callbacks". We have to do the same with qxl, for the same reasons (it breaks DRI3). Drop the WARN_ON_ONCE(). 2019-03-19drm/ttm: Quick-test mmap offset in ttm_bo_mmap()Thomas Zimmermann
A BO's address has to be at least the minimum offset. Sharing this test in ttm_bo_mmap() removes code from drivers. A full buffer-address validation is still done within drm_vma_offset_lockup_locked(). 2019-03-19drm/ttm: Remove file_page_offset parameter from ttm_bo_device_init()Thomas Zimmermann
The parameter file_page_offset is a constant shared by all drivers. Just replace it with the constant itself. 2019-03-19drm/ttm: Define a single DRM_FILE_PAGE_OFFSET constantThomas Zimmermann
Most TTM drivers define the constant DRM_FILE_PAGE_OFFSET of the same value. The only exception is vboxvideo, which is being converted to the new offset by this patch. Unifying the constants in a single place simplifies the driver code. 2019-01-29drm/irq: Ditch DRIVER_IRQ_SHAREDDaniel Vetter
This is only used by drm_irq_install(), which is an optional helper. For legacy pci devices this is required (due to interrupt sharing without msi/msi-x), and just making this the default exactly matches the behaviour of all existing drivers using the drm_irq_install() helpers. In case that ever becomes wrong drivers can roll their own irq handling, as many drivers already do (for other reasons like needing a threaded interrupt handler, or having an entire pile of different interrupt sources). v2: Rebase v3: Improve commit message (Emil) Cc: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Reviewed-by: Emil Velikov <emil.velikov@collabora.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20190129104248.26607-3-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch
