2024-07-27drm/radeon: convert bios_hardcoded_edid to drm_edidThomas Weißschuh
Instead of manually passing around 'struct edid *' and its size, use 'struct drm_edid', which encapsulates a validated combination of both. As the drm_edid_ can handle NULL gracefully, the explicit checks can be dropped. Also save a few characters by transforming '&array[0]' to the equivalent 'array' and using 'max_t(int, ...)' instead of manual casts. 2024-04-09drm/radeon/radeon_display: Decrease the size of allocated memoryErick Archer
This is an effort to get rid of all multiplications from allocation functions in order to prevent integer overflows [1] [2]. In this case, the memory allocated to store RADEONFB_CONN_LIMIT pointers to "drm_connector" structures can be avoided. This is because this memory area is never accessed. Also, in the kzalloc function, it is preferred to use sizeof(*pointer) instead of sizeof(type) due to the type of the variable can change and one needs not change the former (unlike the latter). At the same time take advantage to remove the "#if 0" block, the code where the removed memory area was accessed, and the RADEONFB_CONN_LIMIT constant due to now is never used. 2023-03-31drm/radeon: Implement client-based fbdev emulationThomas Zimmermann
Implement fbdev emulation on top of struct drm_client and its helpers. Replaces ad-hoc interfaces for restoring and closing fbdev emulation with per-client callbacks for hotplugging, restoring and unregistering. A single function, radeon_fbdev_setup(), starts fbdev emulation after the DRM device has been registered. Hence, fbdev acts like a regular DRM client. The setup call prepares the fbdev emulation and invokes connector hotplugging. The first successful hotplug event initializes fbdev emulation with a framebuffer, device file, etc. Unregistering depends on the hotplug status. Fully initialized emulation is cleaned up through drm_fb_helper_unregister_info() and fb_destroy. For prepared-only setups, unregistering unprepares the emulation and releases all resources. In both cases, fbdev emulation will be cleaned up. 2022-10-19drm: Remove drm_mode_config::fb_baseZack Rusin
The fb_base in struct drm_mode_config has been unused for a long time. Some drivers set it and some don't leading to a very confusing state where the variable can't be relied upon, because there's no indication as to which driver sets it and which doesn't. The only usage of fb_base is internal to two drivers so instead of trying to force it into all the drivers to get it into a coherent state completely remove it. 2022-04-07dma-buf: add enum dma_resv_usage v4Christian König
This change adds the dma_resv_usage enum and allows us to specify why a dma_resv object is queried for its containing fences. Additional to that a dma_resv_usage_rw() helper function is added to aid retrieving the fences for a read or write userspace submission. This is then deployed to the different query functions of the dma_resv object and all of their users. 2022-01-31drm: introduce fb_modifiers_not_supported flag in mode_configTomohito Esaki
If only linear modifier is advertised, since there are many drivers that only linear supported, the DRM core should handle this rather than open-coding in every driver. However, there are legacy drivers such as radeon that do not support modifiers but infer the actual layout of the underlying buffer. 2020-09-03drm/radeon: Prefer lower feedback dividersKai-Heng Feng
Commit 2e26ccb119bd ("drm/radeon: prefer lower reference dividers") fixed screen flicker for HP Compaq nx9420 but breaks other laptops like Asus X50SL. Turns out we also need to favor lower feedback dividers. Users confirmed this change fixes the regression and doesn't regress the original fix. Having the probe helper stuff (which pretty much everyone needs) in the drm_crtc_helper.h file (which atomic drivers should never need) is confusing. Split them out. To make sure I actually achieved the goal here I went through all drivers. And indeed, all atomic drivers are now free of drm_crtc_helper.h includes. v2: Make it compile. There was so much compile fail on arm drivers that I figured I'll better not include any of the acks on v1. v3: Massive rebase because i915 has lost a lot of drmP.h includes, but not all: Through drm_crtc_helper.h > drm_modeset_helper.h -> drmP.h there was still one, which this patch largely removes. Which means rolling out lots more includes all over. 570e86963a51 ("drm: Widen vblank count to 64-bits [v3]") changed the return type for drm_crtc_vblank_count() to u64. This could cause potential problems if the return value is used in arithmetic operations with a 32-bit reference HW vblank count. Explicitly typecasting this down to u32 either fixes a potential problem or serves to add clarity in case the implicit typecasting was already correct.
