2021-11-05drm/ttm: remove ttm_bo_vm_insert_huge()Jason Gunthorpe
The huge page functionality in TTM does not work safely because PUD and PMD entries do not have a special bit. get_user_pages_fast() considers any page that passed pmd_huge() as usable: if (unlikely(pmd_trans_huge(pmd) || pmd_huge(pmd) || pmd_devmap(pmd))) { And vmf_insert_pfn_pmd_prot() unconditionally sets entry = pmd_mkhuge(pfn_t_pmd(pfn, prot)); eg on x86 the page will be _PAGE_PRESENT | PAGE_PSE. As such gup_huge_pmd() will try to deref a struct page: head = try_grab_compound_head(pmd_page(orig), refs, flags); and thus crash. Thomas further notices that the drivers are not expecting the struct page to be used by anything - in particular the refcount incr above will cause them to malfunction. Thus everything about this is not able to fully work correctly considering GUP_fast. Delete it entirely. It can return someday along with a proper PMD/PUD_SPECIAL bit in the page table itself to gate GUP_fast. 2021-10-25drm: Update MST First Link Slot Information Based on Encoding FormatBhawanpreet Lakha
8b/10b encoding format requires to reserve the first slot for recording metadata. Real data transmission starts from the second slot, with a total of available 63 slots available. In 128b/132b encoding format, metadata is transmitted separately in LLCP packet before MTP. 2021-09-29gpu: amd: replace open-coded offsetof() with builtinArnd Bergmann
The two AMD drivers have their own custom offsetof() implementation that now triggers a warning with recent versions of clang: drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/radeon_atombios.c:133:14: error: performing pointer subtraction with a null pointer has undefined behavior [-Werror,-Wnull-pointer-subtraction] Change all the instances to use the normal offsetof() provided by the kernel that does not have this problem. 2021-09-07drm/radeon: Prefer kcalloc over open coded arithmeticLen Baker
As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes, and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar) function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors. So, refactor the code a bit to use the purpose specific kcalloc() function instead of the calculated size argument in the kzalloc() function. 2021-08-23drm/ttm: remove ttm_tt_destroy_common v2Christian König
Move the functionality into ttm_tt_fini and ttm_bo_tt_destroy instead. We don't need this any more since we removed the unbind from the destroy code paths in the drivers. Also add a warning to ttm_tt_fini() if we try to fini a still populated TT object. v2: instead of reverting the patch move the functionality to different places. When primary bo is updated, crtc's pitch may have not been updated, this will lead to show disorder content when user changes display mode, we update crtc's pitch in page flip to avoid this bug. 2021-07-01drm/radeon: Call radeon_suspend_kms() in radeon_pci_shutdown() for Loongson64Tiezhu Yang
On the Loongson64 platform used with Radeon GPU, shutdown or reboot failed when console=tty is in the boot cmdline. radeon_suspend_kms() puts the hw in the suspend state, especially set fb state as FBINFO_STATE_SUSPENDED: if (fbcon) { console_lock(); radeon_fbdev_set_suspend(rdev, 1); console_unlock(); } Then avoid to do any more fb operations in the related functions: if (p->state != FBINFO_STATE_RUNNING) return; So call radeon_suspend_kms() in radeon_pci_shutdown() for Loongson64 to fix this issue, it looks like some kind of workaround like powerpc. 2021-06-08radeon: use memcpy_to/fromio for UVD fw uploadChen Li
I met a gpu addr bug recently and the kernel log tells me the pc is memcpy/memset and link register is radeon_uvd_resume. As we know, in some architectures, optimized memcpy/memset may not work well on device memory. Trival memcpy_toio/memset_io can fix this problem. BTW, amdgpu has already done it in: commit ba0b2275a678 ("drm/amdgpu: use memcpy_to/fromio for UVD fw upload"), that's why it has no this issue on the same gpu and platform.
