2019-09-25drm/radeon: untag user pointers in radeon_gem_userptr_ioctlAndrey Konovalov
This patch is a part of a series that extends kernel ABI to allow to pass tagged user pointers (with the top byte set to something else other than 0x00) as syscall arguments. In radeon_gem_userptr_ioctl() an MMU notifier is set up with a (tagged) userspace pointer. The untagged address should be used so that MMU notifiers for the untagged address get correctly matched up with the right BO. This funcation also calls radeon_ttm_tt_pin_userptr(), which uses provided user pointers for vma lookups, which can only by done with untagged pointers. This patch untags user pointers in radeon_gem_userptr_ioctl(). 2019-09-17drm/radeon: Bail earlier when radeon.cik_/si_support=0 is passedHans de Goede
Bail from the pci_driver probe function instead of from the drm_driver load function. This avoid /dev/dri/card0 temporarily getting registered and then unregistered again, sending unwanted add / remove udev events to userspace. Specifically this avoids triggering the (userspace) bug fixed by this plymouth merge-request: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/merge_requests/59 Note that despite that being an userspace bug, not sending unnecessary udev events is a good idea in general. 2019-08-20drm/radeon: use mmu_notifier_get/put for struct radeon_mnJason Gunthorpe
radeon is using a device global hash table to track what mmu_notifiers have been registered on struct mm. This is better served with the new get/put scheme instead. radeon has a bug where it was not blocking notifier release() until all the BO's had been invalidated. This could result in a use after free of pages the BOs. This is tied into a second bug where radeon left the notifiers running endlessly even once the interval tree became empty. This could result in a use after free with module unload. Both are fixed by changing the lifetime model, the BOs exist in the interval tree with their natural lifetimes independent of the mm_struct lifetime using the get/put scheme. The release runs synchronously and just does invalidate_start across the entire interval tree to create the required DMA fence. Additions to the interval tree after release are already impossible as only current->mm is used during the add. 2019-08-15drm/radeon: simplify and cleanup setting the dma maskChristoph Hellwig
Use dma_set_mask_and_coherent to set both masks in one go, and remove the no longer required fallback, as the kernel now always accepts larger than required DMA masks. 2019-07-31drm/radeon: Fill out gem_object->resvDaniel Vetter
That way we can ditch our gem_prime_res_obj implementation. Since ttm absolutely needs the right reservation object all the boilerplate is already there and we just have to wire it up correctly. Note that gem/prime doesn't care when we do this, as long as we do it before the bo is registered and someone can call the handle2fd ioctl on it. Aside: ttm_buffer_object.ttm_resv could probably be ditched in favour of always passing a non-NULL resv to ttm_bo_init(). At least for gem drivers that would avoid having two of these, on in ttm_buffer_object and the other in drm_gem_object, one just there for confusion. 2019-05-20drm: Remove users of drm_format_info_plane_cppMaxime Ripard
drm_format_info_plane_cpp() basically just returns the cpp array content found in the drm_format_info structure. 2019-05-20drm/fourcc: Pass the format_info pointer to drm_format_plane_cppMaxime Ripard
So far, the drm_format_plane_cpp function was operating on the format's fourcc and was doing a lookup to retrieve the drm_format_info structure and return the cpp. However, this is inefficient since in most cases, we will have the drm_format_info pointer already available so we shouldn't have to perform a new lookup. Some drm_fourcc functions also already operate on the drm_format_info pointer for that reason, so the API is quite inconsistent there. Let's follow the latter pattern and remove the extra lookup while being a bit more consistent. In order to be extra consistent, also rename that function to drm_format_info_plane_cpp and to a static function in the header to match the current policy. 2019-03-26drm/fbdev: Make skip_vt_switch the defaultDaniel Vetter
KMS drivers really should all be able to restore their display state on resume without fbcon helping out. So make this the default. Since I'm not entirely foolish, make it only a default, which drivers can still override. That way when the inevitable regression report happens I can fix things up with a one-liner plus FIXME comment that someone should fix up the suspend/resume code in that driver. But at least all new drivers won't be broken by accident as soon as you turn off fbcon because "suspend/resume worked when I tested it". v2: Keep this for radeon because of commit 18c437caa5b18a235dd65cec224eab54bebcee65 Author: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Date: Tue Nov 14 17:19:29 2017 -0500 Revert "drm/radeon: dont switch vt on suspend" Thanks to Michel Dänzer for pointing this one out.
