2024-12-22hwmon: (lm75) add I3C support for P3T1755Wolfram Sang
Introduce I3C support by defining I3C accessors for regmap and implementing an I3C driver. Enable I3C for the NXP P3T1755. 2024-12-20hwmon: (lm75) separate probe into common and I2C partsWolfram Sang
Put generic probe functionality into a separate function and let the I2C driver call it. This is a preparation for adding I3C support which will also use the generic probe function. 2024-12-20hwmon: (lm75) Remove superfluous 'client' member from private structWolfram Sang
The regmap-only conversion allows us to store the client-pointer as the 'context' parameter for regmap. This not only makes the private struct smaller, but also allows proper separation of I2C and I3C in the future. 2024-12-20hwmon: (lm75) Hide register size differences in regmap access functionsGuenter Roeck
Hide register size differences in regmap access functions to simplify runtime code and to simplify adding support for I3C devices. Also use regmap API functions for bit operations where possible. For this to work, the 16-bit and 8-bit configuration register has to be mapped to a 16-bit value. Unlike other registers, this register is a low-byte-first register, presumably for compatibility with chips with 8-bit wide configuration registers. Hide the differences in the regmap access code. While at it, enable alarm attribute support for TMP112. 2024-06-08hwmon: (lm75) Remove use of i2c_match_id()Andrew Davis
The function i2c_match_id() is used to fetch the matching ID from the i2c_device_id table. This is often used to then retrieve the matching driver_data. This can be done in one step with the helper i2c_get_match_data(). This helper has a couple other benefits: * It doesn't need the i2c_device_id passed in so we do not need to have that forward declared, allowing us to remove those or move the i2c_device_id table down to its more natural spot with the other module info. * It also checks for device match data, which allows for OF and ACPI based probing. That means we do not have to manually check those first and can remove those checks. 2023-08-21hwmon: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2020-09-23hwmon: use simple i2c probe functionStephen Kitt
Many hwmon drivers don't use the id information provided by the old i2c probe function, and the remainder can easily be adapted to the new form ("probe_new") by calling i2c_match_id explicitly. This avoids scanning the identifier tables during probes. Drivers which didn't use the id are converted as-is; drivers which did are modified as follows: * if the information in i2c_client is sufficient, that's used instead (client->name); * anything else is handled by calling i2c_match_id() with the same level of error-handling (if any) as before. A few drivers aren't included in this patch because they have a different set of maintainers. They will be covered by other patches. 2019-09-03hwmon: (lm75) Support configuring the sample time for various chipsGuenter Roeck

2019-08-31hwmon: (lm75) Fix write operations for negative temperaturesGuenter Roeck
Writes into limit registers fail if the temperature written is negative. The regmap write operation checks the value range, regmap_write accepts an unsigned int as parameter, and the temperature value passed to regmap_write is kept in a variable declared as long. Negative values are converted large unsigned integers, which fails the range check. Fix by type casting the temperature to u16 when calling regmap_write(). 2018-01-17hwmon: (lm75) Fix trailing semicolonLuis de Bethencourt
The trailing semicolon is an empty statement that does no operation. Removing it since it doesn't do anything. Signed-off-by: Luis de Bethencourt <luisbg@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>
2017-04-02hwmon: (lm75) Add OF device ID tableJavier Martinez Canillas
The driver doesn't have a struct of_device_id table but supported devices are registered via Device Trees. This is working on the assumption that a I2C device registered via OF will always match a legacy I2C device ID and that the MODALIAS reported will always be of the form i2c:<device>. But this could change in the future so the correct approach is to have an OF device ID table if the devices are registered via OF. 2016-09-08hwmon: (lm75) Convert to use new hwmon registration APIGuenter Roeck
Simplify code and reduce code size by using the new hwmon registration API. Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>
2016-07-31hwmon: (lm75) Improve error handlingGuenter Roeck
Use devm_add_action_or_reset() instead of devm_add_action(), and check its return value. Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>
2016-07-09hwmon: (lm75) Convert to use regmapGuenter Roeck
Convert to use regmap. Leave caching to regmap and drop the register update function. While this can result in additional read operations if the temperature register is read continuously, it avoids re-reading the limit registers and thus overall reduces complexity. 2016-07-09hwmon: (lm75) Add update_interval attributeGuenter Roeck
Since we know the chip's update interval, let's make it available to the user. Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>
2016-07-09hwmon: (lm75) Drop lm75_read_value and lm75_write_valueGuenter Roeck
lm75_read_value and lm75_write_value don't really add any value. Replace with direct smbus access functions. Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net>
