2023-06-05i2c: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. 2022-08-11i2c: move drivers from strlcpy to strscpyWolfram Sang
Follow the advice of the below link and prefer 'strscpy'. Conversion is easy because no driver used the return value and has been done with a simple sed invocation. 2022-03-01i2c: riic: Simplify reset handlingLad Prabhakar
Read reset phandle as optional instead of exclusive so that all the DT's passing the reset phandle can be used to assert/deassert the reset line. With this change we don't have to differentiate the RZ/G2L SoC. With the above changes we no longer need the "renesas,riic-r9a07g044" compatible string, so drop it from riic_i2c_dt_ids[]. No changes are required to the r9a07g044.dtsi as we already have "renesas,riic-rz" as a fallback compatible string. While at it, check the return code of reset_control_deassert() as it might fail and also add a devres action to assert the reset line. 2022-01-03i2c: riic: Use platform_get_irq() to get the interruptLad Prabhakar
platform_get_resource(pdev, IORESOURCE_IRQ, ..) relies on static allocation of IRQ resources in DT core code, this causes an issue when using hierarchical interrupt domains using "interrupts" property in the node as this bypasses the hierarchical setup and messes up the irq chaining. In preparation for removal of static setup of IRQ resource from DT core code use platform_get_irq(). 2019-09-28i2c: riic: Clear NACK in tend isrChris Brandt
The NACKF flag should be cleared in INTRIICNAKI interrupt processing as description in HW manual. This issue shows up quickly when PREEMPT_RT is applied and a device is probed that is not plugged in (like a touchscreen controller). The result is endless interrupts that halt system boot. 2018-05-29i2c: busses: make use of i2c_8bit_addr_from_msgPeter Rosin
Because it looks neater. For diolan, this allows factoring out some code that is now common between if and else. For eg20t, pch_i2c_writebytes is always called with a write in msgs->flags, and pch_i2c_readbytes with a read. For imx, i2c_imx_dma_write and i2c_imx_write are always called with a write in msgs->flags, and i2c_imx_read with a read. For qup, qup_i2c_write_tx_fifo_v1 is always called with a write in qup->msg->flags. For stu300, also restructure debug output for resends, since that code as a result is only handling debug output. 2017-03-08i2c: riic: fix restart conditionChris Brandt
While modifying the driver to use the STOP interrupt, the completion of the intermediate transfers need to wake the driver back up in order to initiate the next transfer (restart condition). Otherwise you get never ending interrupts and only the first transfer sent. 2017-02-09i2c: riic: correctly finish transfersChris Brandt
This fixes the condition where the controller has not fully completed its final transfer and leaves the bus and controller in a undesirable state. At the end of the last transmitted byte, the existing driver would just signal for a STOP condition to be transmitted then immediately signal completion. However, the full STOP procedure might not have fully taken place by the time the runtime PM shuts off the peripheral clock, leaving the bus in a suspended state. Alternatively, the STOP condition on the bus may have completed, but when the next transaction is requested by the upper layer, not all the necessary register cleanup was finished from the last transfer which made the driver return BUS BUSY when it really wasn't. This patch now makes all transmit and receive transactions wait for the STOP condition to fully complete before signaling a completed transaction. With this new method, runtime PM no longer seems to be an issue.
