2017-08-20media: rc: saa7134: add trailing space for timely decodingSean Young
The gpio-ir-recv driver adds timeouts which the saa7134 lacks; this causes keypress not to arrive, and to only arrive once more IR is received. This is what the commit below calls "ghost keypresses", and that commit does not solve the issue completely. This makes the IR on the HVR-1150 much more reliable and responsive. Fixes: 3f5c4c73322e ("[media] rc: fix ghost keypresses with certain hw") Signed-off-by: Sean Young <sean@mess.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>
2017-08-20media: rc-core: improve ir_raw_store_edge() handlingSean Young
The gpio-ir-recv driver does many wakeups (once per edge); the saa7134 driver has special handling to only wakeup 15ms after the first edge. Make this part of rc-core so gpio-ir-recv also benefits from this (so a rc-5 keypress now causes 3 wakeups rather than 24). 2017-08-20media: rc-core: rename input_name to device_nameSean Young
When an ir-spi is registered, you get this message. rc rc0: Unspecified device as /devices/platform/soc/3f215080.spi/spi_master/spi32766/spi32766.128/rc/rc0 "Unspecified device" refers to input_name, which makes no sense for IR TX only devices. So, rename to device_name. Also make driver_name const char* so that no casts are needed anywhere. Now ir-spi reports: rc rc0: IR SPI as /devices/platform/soc/3f215080.spi/spi_master/spi32766/spi32766.128/rc/rc0 Signed-off-by: Sean Young <sean@mess.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>

2017-04-17[media] saa7134: constify nxt200x_config structuresBhumika Goyal
Declare nxt200x_config structures as const as they are only passed as an argument to the function dvb_attach. dvb_attach calls its first argument on the rest of its arguments. The first argument of dvb_attach in the changed cases is nxt200x_attach and the parameter of this function to which the object references are passed is of type const. So, nxt200x_config structures having this property can be made const. tveeprom_hauppauge_analog() used to need the I2C adapter in order to print debug messages. As it now uses pr_foo() facilities since commit 6037b3ca28f4 ("[media] tveeprom: print log messages using pr_foo()"), the first argument of the function is not needed anymore. So, get rid of it. 2017-01-30[media] rc-main: assign driver type during allocationAndi Shyti
The driver type can be assigned immediately when an RC device requests to the framework to allocate the device. This is an 'enum rc_driver_type' data type and specifies whether the device is a raw receiver or scancode receiver. The type will be given as parameter to the rc_allocate_device device. Change accordingly all the drivers calling rc_allocate_device() so that the device type is specified during the rc device allocation. Whenever the device type is not specified, it will be set as RC_DRIVER_SCANCODE which was the default '0' value. 2016-11-18[media] saa7134: fix warm Medion 7134 EEPROM readMaciej S. Szmigiero
When saa7134 module driving a Medion 7134 card is reloaded reads of this card EEPROM (required for automatic detection of tuner model) will be corrupted due to I2C gate in DVB-T demod being left closed. This sometimes also happens on first saa7134 module load after a warm reboot. Fix this by opening this I2C gate before doing EEPROM read during i2c initialization. Signed-off-by: Maciej S. 2016-10-21[media] saa7134: don't break long linesMauro Carvalho Chehab
Due to the 80-cols restrictions, and latter due to checkpatch warnings, several strings were broken into multiple lines. This is not considered a good practice anymore, as it makes harder to grep for strings at the source code. As we're right now fixing other drivers due to KERN_CONT, we need to be able to identify what printk strings don't end with a "\n". It is a way easier to detect those if we don't break long lines. So, join those continuation lines. The patch was generated via the script below, and manually adjusted if needed. </script> use Text::Tabs; while (<>) { if ($next ne "") { $c=$_; if ($c =~ /^\s+\"(.*)/) { $c2=$1; $next =~ s/\"\n$//; $n = expand($next); $funpos = index($n, '('); $pos = index($c2, '",'); if ($funpos && $pos > 0) { $s1 = substr $c2, 0, $pos + 2; $s2 = ' ' x ($funpos + 1) . substr $c2, $pos + 2; $s2 =~ s/^\s+//; $s2 = ' ' x ($funpos + 1) . $s2 if ($s2 ne ""); print unexpand("$next$s1\n"); print unexpand("$s2\n") if ($s2 ne ""); } else { print "$next$c2\n"; } $next=""; next; } else { print $next; } $next=""; } else { if (m/\"$/) { if (!m/\\n\"$/) { $next=$_; next; } } } print $_; } </script> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@s-opensource.com>

2016-09-22[media] rc: split nec protocol into its three variantsSean Young
Currently we do not know what variant (bit length) of the nec protocol is used, other than from guessing from the length of the scancode. Now nec will be handled the same way as the sony protocol or the rc6 protocol; one variant per bit length. In the future we might want to expose the rc protocol type to userspace and we don't want to be introducing this world of pain into userspace too. The saa7134_input.tv field was used to indicate if an input had a RF signal for TV input. This is not needed anymore, as the input type can be checked directly by the driver. Also, due to a past bug when setting the TV standard at the demod, all inputs should have this field set, with is wrong. This reduces the size of the saa7134_boards by about 8KB, on i386 (and probably twice on 64 bits), with is a nice colateral effect: text data bss dec hex filename 241047 136831 66356 444234 6c74a drivers/media/pci/saa7134/saa7134.o.old 240851 128895 66292 436038 6a746 drivers/media/pci/saa7134/saa7134.o Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@osg.samsung.com>

2016-02-10[media] saa7134: use input types, instead of hardcoding stringsMauro Carvalho Chehab
Currently, the saa7134 driver is hardcoding input names on each board entry. More modern drivers define, instead, an enum for each input type. While the current logic works, it adds extra complexity at the driver, as it needs to discover the type of the input using some euristics. Instead, let's standardize the input types and use a type, instead of a name on all places. That will allow further patches to properly report the input type via VIDIOC_G_INPUT and to remove an extra field from the struct to identify if the input is for TV. Please notice that several boards define an input for receiving composite signals via a S-Video connector. The name of such input was inconsistent, so this patch cleans it and make it to be properly reported the same way for all boards. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@osg.samsung.com>

2015-12-18[media] vb2: drop v4l2_format argument from queue_setupHans Verkuil
The queue_setup callback has a void pointer that is just for V4L2 and is the pointer to the v4l2_format struct that was passed to VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS. The idea was that drivers would use the information from that struct to buffers suitable for the requested format. After the vb2 split series this pointer is now a void pointer, which is ugly, and the reality is that all existing drivers will effectively just look at the sizeimage field of v4l2_format. To make this more generic the queue_setup callback is changed: the void pointer is dropped, instead if the *num_planes argument is 0, then use the current format size, if it is non-zero, then it contains the number of requested planes and the sizes array contains the requested sizes. If either is unsupported, then return -EINVAL, otherwise use the requested size(s). Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hans.verkuil@cisco.com> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@osg.samsung.com>

2015-11-17[media] include/media: split I2C headers from V4L2 coreMauro Carvalho Chehab
Currently, include/media is messy, as it contains both the V4L2 core headers and some driver-specific headers on the same place. That makes harder to identify what core headers should be documented and what headers belong to I2C drivers that are included only by bridge/main drivers that would require the functions provided by them. Let's move those i2c specific files to its own subdirectory. The files to move were produced via the following script: mkdir include/media/i2c (cd include/media; for i in *.h; do n=`echo $i|sed s/.h$/.c/`; if [ -e ../../drivers/media/i2c/$n ]; then echo $i; git mv $i i2c/; fi; done) (cd include/media; for i in *.h; do n=`echo $i|sed s/.h$/.c/`; if [ -e ../../drivers/media/*/i2c/$n ]; then echo $i; git mv $i i2c/; fi; done) for i in include/media/*.h; do n=`basename $i`; (for j in $(git grep -l $n); do dirname $j; done)|sort|uniq|grep -ve '^.$' > list; num=$(wc -l list|cut -d' ' -f1); if [ $num == 1 ]; then if [ "`grep i2c list`" != "" ]; then git mv $i include/media/i2c; fi; fi; done And the references corrected via this script: MAIN_DIR="media/" PREV_DIR="media/" DIRS="i2c/" echo "Checking affected files" >&2 for i in $DIRS; do for j in $(find include/$MAIN_DIR/$i -type f -name '*.h'); do n=`basename $j` git grep -l $n done done|sort|uniq >files && ( echo "Handling files..." >&2; echo "for i in \$(cat files|grep -v Documentation); do cat \$i | \\"; ( cd include/$MAIN_DIR; for j in $DIRS; do for i in $(ls $j); do echo "perl -ne 's,(include [\\\"\\<])$PREV_DIR($i)([\\\"\\>]),\1$MAIN_DIR$j\2\3,; print \$_' |\\"; done; done; echo "cat > a && mv a \$i; done"; ); echo "Handling documentation..." >&2; echo "for i in MAINTAINERS \$(cat files); do cat \$i | \\"; ( cd include/$MAIN_DIR; for j in $DIRS; do for i in $(ls $j); do echo " perl -ne 's,include/$PREV_DIR($i)\b,include/$MAIN_DIR$j\1,; print \$_' |\\"; done; done; echo "cat > a && mv a \$i; done" ); ) >script && . ./script Merged Sakari Ailus patch that moves smiapp.h to include/media/i2c. On some archs, like tile, the PAGE_SIZE is not 4K. In the case of tile arch, it can be either 16KB or 64KB. Due to that, a warning is produced: drivers/media/pci/saa7134/saa7134.h:678:43: warning: large integer implicitly truncated to unsigned type [-Woverflow] This is actually an error, as it will write trach to the DMA size registers. The DVB API was originally defined using typedefs. This is against Kernel CodingStyle, and there's no good usage here.
