mmc_add_host() may return error, if we ignore its return value, it will lead two issues: 1. The memory that allocated in mmc_alloc_host() is leaked. 2. 2021-10-06mmc: meson-gx: do not use memcpy_to/fromio for dram-access-quirkNeil Armstrong
The memory at the end of the controller only accepts 32bit read/write accesses, but the arm64 memcpy_to/fromio implementation only uses 64bit (which will be split into two 32bit access) and 8bit leading to incomplete copies to/from this memory when the buffer is not multiple of 8bytes. Add a local copy using writel/readl accesses to make sure we use the right memory access width. The switch to memcpy_to/fromio was done because of 285133040e6c ("arm64: Import latest memcpy()/memmove() implementation"), but using memcpy worked before since it mainly used 32bit memory acceses. 2021-06-14mmc: meson-gx: use memcpy_to/fromio for dram-access-quirkNeil Armstrong
It has been reported that usage of memcpy() to/from an iomem mapping is invalid, and a recent arm64 memcpy update [1] triggers a memory abort when dram-access-quirk is used on the G12A/G12B platforms. This adds a local sg_copy_to_buffer which makes usage of io versions of memcpy when dram-access-quirk is enabled. 2021-05-10mmc: meson-gx: also check SD_IO_RW_EXTENDED for scatterlist size alignmentNeil Armstrong
The brcmfmac driver can generate a scatterlist from a skb with each packets not aligned to the block size. This is not supported by the Amlogic Descriptor dma engine where each descriptor must match a multiple of the block size. The sg list is valid, since the sum of the sg buffers is a multiple of the block size, but we must discard those when in SD_IO_RW_EXTENDED mode since SDIO block mode can be used under the hood even with data->blocks == 1. Those transfers are very rare, thus can be replaced by a bounce buffer without real performance loss. alignment in block mode Since commit e085b51c74cc ("mmc: meson-gx: check for scatterlist size alignment in block mode"), support for SDIO SD_IO_RW_EXTENDED transferts are properly filtered but some driver like brcmfmac still gives a block sg buffer size not aligned with SDIO block, triggerring a WARN_ONCE() with scary stacktrace even if the transfer works fine but with possible degraded performances. Simply replace with dev_warn_once() to inform user this should be fixed to avoid degraded performance. 2021-02-01mmc: meson-gx: check for scatterlist size alignment in block modeDmitry Lebed
Enable SGDMA support for SD_IO_RW_EXTENDED and add proper check for scatterlist size alignment in block mode. According to documentation, in SDIO block mode meson-gx DMA could only handle buffers with sizes that are multiples of SDIO block size. Some SDIO drivers like brcmfmac use scatterlist API, but do not enforce proper scatterlist buffer size alignemnt, this looks like a root cause of non-working CMD53. Some minor style fixes. 2020-06-16mmc: meson-gx: limit segments to 1 when dram-access-quirk is neededNeil Armstrong
The actual max_segs computation leads to failure while using the broadcom sdio brcmfmac/bcmsdh driver, since the driver tries to make usage of scatter gather. But with the dram-access-quirk we use a 1,5K SRAM bounce buffer, and the max_segs current value of 3 leads to max transfers to 4,5k, which doesn't work. 2019-06-10mmc: meson-gx: add dram-access-quirkNeil Armstrong
On the Amlogic G12A SoC family, (only) the SDIO controller fails to access the data from DRAM, leading to a broken controller. But each MMC controller has 1,5KiB of SRAM after the registers, that can be used as bounce buffer to avoid direct DRAM access from the integrated DMAs (this SRAM may be used by the boot ROM when DRAM is not yet initialized). The quirk is to disable the chained descriptor for this controller, and use this SRAM memory zone as buffer for the bounce buffer fallback mode. The performance hit hasn't been evaluated, but the fix has been tested using a WiFi AP6398S SDIO module, and the iperf3 Bandwidth measurement gave 55.2 Mbits/sec over a 63 Hours long test, with the SDIO ios set as High-Speed at 50MHz clock. It gave 170 Mbits/sec as SDR104 and 200MHz clock. While cleaning the ISR of the meson-gx and acking only raised irqs, the ack of the irq was moved at the very last stage of the function. This was stable during the initial tests but it triggered issues with hs200, under specific loads (like booting android). Acking the irqs after calling the mmc_request_done() causes the problem. Moving the ack back to the original place solves the issue. Since the irq is edge triggered, it does not hurt to ack irq even earlier, so let's do it early in the ISR. 2019-05-06mmc: meson-gx: add signal resampling tuningJerome Brunet
Use signal resampling tuning for the UHS and HS200 modes. Instead of trying to get the *best* resampling setting with complex window calculation, we just stop on the first working setting. If the tuning setting later proves unstable, we will just continue the tuning where we left it. 2019-05-06mmc: meson-gx: remove Rx phase tuningJerome Brunet
This remove all the code related to phase settings. Using the Rx phase for tuning has not been reliable. We had several issues over the past months, on both v2 and v3 mmc chips After discussing the issue matter with Amlogic, They suggested to set a phase shift of 180 between Core and Tx and use signal resampling for the tuning. Since we won't be playing with the phase anymore, let's remove all the clock code related to it and set the appropriate value on init. 2019-05-06mmc: meson-gx: avoid clock glitch when switching to DDR modesJerome Brunet
Activating DDR in the Amlogic mmc controller, among other things, will divide the output clock by 2. So by activating it with clock on, we are creating a glitch on the output. Instead, let's deal with DDR when the clock output is off, when setting the clock. 2019-02-13mmc: meson-gx: fix interrupt nameMartin Blumenstingl
Commit bb364890323cca ("mmc: meson-gx: Free irq in release() callback") changed the _probe code to use request_threaded_irq() instead of devm_request_threaded_irq(). Unfortunately this removes a fallback for the interrupt name: devm_request_threaded_irq() uses the device name as fallback if the given IRQ name is NULL. request_threaded_irq() has no such fallback, thus /proc/interrupts shows "(null)" instead. Explicitly pass the dev_name() so we get the IRQ name shown in /proc/interrupts again. While here, also fix the indentation of the request_threaded_irq() parameter list. 2019-01-14mmc: meson-gx: Free irq in release() callbackRemi Pommarel
Because the irq was requested through device managed resources API (devm_request_threaded_irq()) it was freed after meson_mmc_remove() completion, thus after mmc_free_host() has reclaimed meson_host memory. As this irq is IRQF_SHARED, while using CONFIG_DEBUG_SHIRQ, its handler get called by free_irq(). So meson_mmc_irq() was called after the meson_host memory reclamation and was using invalid memory. We ended up with the following scenario: device_release_driver() meson_mmc_remove() mmc_free_host() /* Freeing host memory */ ... devres_release_all() devm_irq_release() __free_irq() meson_mmc_irq() /* Uses freed memory */ To avoid this, the irq is released in meson_mmc_remove() and in mseon_mmc_probe() error path before mmc_free_host() gets called.
