2016-05-05mtd: nand: lpc32xx: switch to mtd_ooblayout_opsBoris Brezillon
Implementing the mtd_ooblayout_ops interface is the new way of exposing ECC/OOB layout to MTD users. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com>
2016-04-19mtd: nand: remove unneeded of_mtd.h inclusionsBoris Brezillon
Some drivers are including linux/of_mtd.h even if they don't use any of the of_get_nand_xxx() helpers. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Acked-by: Harvey Hunt <harvey.hunt@imgtec.com>
2016-01-26mtd: nand: lpc32xx_mlc: fix ecc.sizeBoris BREZILLON
According to the ECC layout description the actual ecc.size is 512 bytes and not mtd->writesize. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2016-01-07mtd: nand: make use of nand_set/get_controller_data() helpersBoris BREZILLON
New helpers have been added to avoid directly accessing chip->field. Use them where appropriate. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> [Brian: fixed a few rebase conflicts] Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-12-18mtd: nand: remove useless mtd->priv = chip assignmentsBoris BREZILLON
mtd_to_nand() now uses the container_of() approach to transform an mtd_info pointer into a nand_chip one. Drop useless mtd->priv assignments from NAND controller drivers. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-12-18mtd: nand: lpc32xx: use the mtd instance embedded in struct nand_chipBoris BREZILLON
struct nand_chip now embeds an mtd device. Make use of this mtd instance. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-12-08mtd: nand: make use of mtd_to_nand() in NAND driversBoris BREZILLON
mtd_to_nand() was recently introduced to avoid direct accesses to the mtd->priv field. Update all NAND drivers to use it. Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@free-electrons.com> Signed-off-by: Brian Norris <computersforpeace@gmail.com>
2015-11-11mtd: nand: drop unnecessary partition parser dataBrian Norris
All of these drivers set up a parser data struct just to communicate DT partition data. This field has been deprecated and is instead supported by telling nand_scan_ident() about the 'flash_node'. This patch: * sets chip->flash_node for those drivers that didn't already (but used OF partitioning) * drops the parser data * switches to the simpler mtd_device_register() where possible, now that we've eliminated one of the auxiliary parameters Now that we've assigned chip->flash_node for these drivers, we can probably rely on nand_dt_init() to do more of the DT parsing for us, but for now, I don't want to fiddle with each of these drivers. The parsing is done in duplicate for now on some drivers. I don't think this should break things. (Famous last words.) 2015-10-13mtd: nand: pass page number to ecc->write_xxx() methodsBoris BREZILLON
The ->read_xxx() methods are all passed the page number the NAND controller is supposed to read, but ->write_xxx() do not have such a parameter. This is a problem if we want to properly implement data scrambling/randomization in order to mitigate MLC sensibility to repeated pattern: to prevent bitflips in adjacent pages in the same block we need to avoid repeating the same pattern at the same offset in those pages, hence the randomizer/scrambler engine need to be passed the page value in order to adapt its seed accordingly. Moreover, adding the page parameter to the ->write_xxx() methods add some consistency to the current API. 2014-07-01mtd: lpc32xx: drop bitflip_threshold initializationBrian Norris
These drivers don't need to explicitly initialize their bitflip thresholds. The comment is no longer correct, since nand_scan_tail() performs this initialization as of the following commit: commit ea3b2ea24ef0f2ef9c6795b19cff456195b6728a Author: Shmulik Ladkani <shmulik@jungo.com> Date: Fri Jun 8 18:29:06 2012 +0300 mtd: nand: initialize bitflip_threshold prior to BBT scanning (It seems there were some parallel efforts on writing/submitting these drivers, and Shmulik's bug fix.) 2014-01-03mtd: nand: lpc32xx_mlc: drop custom write_page callbackBrian Norris
This driver doesn't need its own custom chip->write_page callback; the only "custom" requirement is that this driver does not support subpage writes, which we can avoid using the NAND_NO_SUBPAGE_WRITE flag. With NAND_NO_SUBPAGE_WRITE, the default routine (nand_write_page()) should perform the equivalent operations. 2013-08-05mtd: nand: lpc32xx: remove unnecessary platform_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han

2013-04-05mtd: nand: subpage write support for hardware based ECC schemesGupta, Pekon
This patch adds support for subpage (partial-page) writes when using hardware based ECC schemes. Advantages: (1) reduces storage overhead when using file-systems like UBIFS, which store LEB header at page-size granularity. (2) allows independent subpage writes, thereby increasing NAND storage efficiency for non-page aligned data. + updated cafe_nand and lpc32xx_mlc NAND drivers for change in chip->write_page interface. 2013-01-25mtd: Convert to devm_ioremap_resource()Thierry Reding

2012-09-29mtd: lpc32xx_mlc: Cleanup after DT-only conversionRoland Stigge
The LPC32xx's DT-only conversion of the MLC NAND driver makes NAND config via platform_data obsolete. Dropped by this patch. Further, the driver really needs CONFIG_OF, which is already reflected by the dependency on ARCH_LPC32XX which depends on CONFIG_OF. So also dropping CONFIG_OF ifdefs. There is still platform_data necessary to supply the dma_filter callback for the dma engine. This is a completely different data structure than the old platform_data for NAND config, so renaming some old "pdata" variable to "ncfg" to prevent confusion with the new platform data.
