2017-06-25bnx2x: Don't log mc removal needlesslyMintz, Yuval
When mc configuration changes bnx2x_config_mcast() can return 0 for success, negative for failure and positive for benign reason preventing its immediate work, e.g., when the command awaits the completion of a previously sent command. When removing all configured macs on a 578xx adapter, if a positive value would be returned driver would errneously log it as an error. 2017-03-07bnx2x: prevent crash when accessing PTP with interface downMichal Schmidt
It is possible to crash the kernel by accessing a PTP device while its associated bnx2x interface is down. Before the interface is brought up, the timecounter is not initialized, so accessing it results in NULL dereference. Fix it by checking if the interface is up. Use -ENETDOWN as the error code when the interface is down. -EFAULT in bnx2x_ptp_adjfreq() did not seem right. Tested using phc_ctl get/set/adj/freq commands. 2016-12-05bnx2x: Prevent tunnel config for 577xxMintz, Yuval
Only the 578xx adapters are capable of configuring UDP ports for the purpose of tunnelling - doing the same on 577xx might lead to a firmware assertion. We're already not claiming support for any related feature for such devices, but we also need to prevent the configuration of the UDP ports to the device in this case. 2016-12-05net: bnx2x: fix improper return valuePan Bian
Macro BNX2X_ALLOC_AND_SET(arr, lbl, func) calls kmalloc() to allocate memory, and jumps to label "lbl" if the allocation fails. Label "lbl" first cleans memory and then returns variable rc. Before calling the macro, the value of variable rc is 0. Because 0 means no error, the callers of bnx2x_init_firmware() may be misled. This patch fixes the bug, assigning "-ENOMEM" to rc before calling macro NX2X_ALLOC_AND_SET(). 2016-10-23bnx2x: Use the correct divisor value for PHC clock readings.Sudarsana Reddy Kalluru
Time Sync (PTP) implementation uses the divisor/shift value for converting the clock ticks to nanoseconds. Driver currently defines shift value as 1, this results in the nanoseconds value to be calculated as half the actual value. Hence the user application fails to synchronize the device clock value with the PTP master device clock. Need to use the 'shift' value of 0. 2016-09-01bnx2x: don't reset chip on cleanup if PCI function is offlineGuilherme G. Piccoli
When PCI error is detected, in some architectures (like PowerPC) a slot reset is performed - the driver's error handlers are in charge of "disable" device before the reset, and re-enable it after a successful slot reset. There are two cases though that another path is taken on the code: if the slot reset is not successful or if too many errors already happened in the specific adapter (meaning that possibly the device is experiencing a HW failure that slot reset is not able to solve), the core PCI error mechanism (called EEH in PowerPC) will remove the adapter from the system, since it will consider this as a permanent failure on device. In this case, a path is taken that leads to bnx2x_chip_cleanup() calling bnx2x_reset_hw(), which then tries to perform a HW reset on chip. This reset won't succeed since the HW is in a fault state, which can be seen by multiple messages on kernel log like below: bnx2x: [bnx2x_issue_dmae_with_comp:552(eth1)]DMAE timeout! bnx2x: [bnx2x_write_dmae:600(eth1)]DMAE returned failure -1 After some time, the PCI error mechanism gives up on waiting the driver's correct removal procedure and forcibly remove the adapter from the system. We can see soft lockup while core PCI error mechanism is waiting for driver to accomplish the right removal process. This patch adds a verification to avoid a chip reset whenever the function is in PCI error state - since this case is only reached when we have a device being removed because of a permanent failure, the HW chip reset is not expected to work fine neither is necessary. Also, as a minor improvement in error path, we avoid the MCP information dump in case of non-recoverable PCI error (when adapter is about to be removed), since it will certainly fail. 2016-08-24bnx2x: Don't flush multicast MACsYuval Mintz
When ndo_set_rx_mode() is called for bnx2x, as part of process of configuring the new MAC address filters [both unicast & multicast] driver begins by flushing the existing configuration and then iterating over the network device's list of addresses and configures those instead. This has the side-effect of creating a short gap where traffic wouldn't be properly classified, as no filters are configured in HW. While for unicasts this is rather insignificant [as unicast MACs don't frequently change while interface is actually running], for multicast traffic it does pose an issue as there are multicast-based networks where new multicast groups would constantly be removed and added. This patch tries to remedy this [at least for the newer adapters] - Instead of flushing & reconfiguring all existing multicast filters, the driver would instead create the approximate hash match that would result from the required filters. It would then compare it against the currently configured approximate hash match, and only add and remove the delta between those. 2016-06-05bnx2x: allow adding VLANs while interface is downMichal Schmidt
Since implementing VLAN filtering in commit 05cc5a39ddb74 ("bnx2x: add vlan filtering offload") bnx2x refuses to add a VLAN while the interface is down: # ip link add link enp3s0f0 enp3s0f0_10 type vlan id 10 RTNETLINK answers: Bad address and in dmesg (with bnx2x.debug=0x20): bnx2x: [bnx2x_vlan_rx_add_vid:12941(enp3s0f0)]Ignoring VLAN configuration the interface is down Other drivers have no problem with this. Fix this peculiar behavior in the following way: - Accept requests to add/kill VID regardless of the device state. Maintain the requested list of VIDs in the bp->vlan_reg list. - If the device is up, try to configure the VID list into the hardware. If we run out of VLAN credits or encounter a failure configuring an entry, fall back to accepting all VLANs. If we successfully configure all entries from the list, turn the fallback off. - Use the same code for reconfiguring VLANs during NIC load. 2016-05-31bnx2x: avoid leaking memory on bnx2x_init_one() failuresVitaly Kuznetsov

2016-05-20net: define gso types for IPx over IPv4 and IPv6Tom Herbert
This patch defines two new GSO definitions SKB_GSO_IPXIP4 and SKB_GSO_IPXIP6 along with corresponding NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP4 and NETIF_F_GSO_IPXIP6. 2016-02-24bnx2x: add a separate GENEVE Kconfig symbolArnd Bergmann

2015-09-11bnx2x: use ktime_get_seconds() for timestampArnd Bergmann
commit c48f350ff5e7 "bnx2x: Add MFW dump support" added the bnx2x_update_mfw_dump() function that reads the current time and stores it in a 32-bit field that gets passed into a buffer in a fixed format. This is potentially broken when the epoch overflows in 2038, and otherwise overflows in 2106. As we're trying to avoid uses of struct timeval for this reason, I noticed the addition of this function, and tried to rewrite it in a way that is more explicit about the overflow and that will keep working once we deprecate struct timeval. I assume that it is not possible to change the ABI any more, otherwise we should try to use a 64-bit field for the seconds right away. 2015-07-29bnx2x: add vlan filtering offloadYuval Mintz
Current driver always uses vlan-promisc mode, i.e., it receives both tagged and untagged traffic and lets the network stack drop packets tagged with unrequested vlan tags. This patch implements vlan-filtering offload in the driver - Unless explicitly configured to promisc mode, only untagged packets or packets tagged with requested vlans would reach the Rx flow. 2015-07-22bnx2x: Add MFW dump supportYuval Mintz
Devices with up-to-date management FW will be able to store register dumps on their persistent storage - in case management FW identifies a fatal error it would gather and store such dumps, which could later be retrieved using specific debug tools. This patch adds the necessary part in the driver in order to make the feature operational, as well as update users [under debug] during load in case their device contains a dump of a previous crash. 2015-07-22bnx2x: Utilize FW 7.12.30Yuval Mintz
This moves bnx2x into using 7.12.30 FW. Said firmware fixes the following: - Packets from a VF with pvid configured which were sent with a different vlan were transmitted instead of being discarded. - FCoE traffic might not recover after a failue while there's traffic to another function. In addition, this FW opens the door for the driver to implement several new features; Specifically, this enhances the device's support for encapsulated packets and will allow vxlan/geneve offloads to be added in the future, as well as vlan filtering offload. 2015-06-25bnx2x: Don't notify about scratchpad paritiesManish Chopra
The scratchpad is a shared block between all functions of a given device. Due to HW limitations, we can't properly close its parity notifications to all functions on legal flows. E.g., it's possible that while taking a register dump from one function a parity error would be triggered on other functions. Today driver doesn't consider this parity as a 'real' parity unless its being accompanied by additional indications [which would happen in a real parity scenario]; But it does print notifications for such events in the system logs. This eliminates such prints - in case of real parities driver would have additional indications; But if this is the only signal user will not even see a parity being logged in the system.
