2022-05-05net: mscc: ocelot: avoid corrupting hardware counters when moving VCAP filtersVladimir Oltean
Given the following order of operations: (1) we add filter A using tc-flower (2) we send a packet that matches it (3) we read the filter's statistics to find a hit count of 1 (4) we add a second filter B with a higher preference than A, and A moves one position to the right to make room in the TCAM for it (5) we send another packet, and this matches the second filter B (6) we read the filter statistics again. When this happens, the hit count of filter A is 2 and of filter B is 1, despite a single packet having matched each filter. Furthermore, in an alternate history, reading the filter stats a second time between steps (3) and (4) makes the hit count of filter A remain at 1 after step (6), as expected. The reason why this happens has to do with the filter->stats.pkts field, which is written to hardware through the call path below: vcap_entry_set / | \ / | \ / | \ / | \ es0_entry_set is1_entry_set is2_entry_set \ | / \ | / \ | / vcap_data_set(data.counter, ...) The primary role of filter->stats.pkts is to transport the filter hit counters from the last readout all the way from vcap_entry_get() -> ocelot_vcap_filter_stats_update() -> ocelot_cls_flower_stats(). The reason why vcap_entry_set() writes it to hardware is so that the counters (saturating and having a limited bit width) are cleared after each user space readout. The writing of filter->stats.pkts to hardware during the TCAM entry movement procedure is an unintentional consequence of the code design, because the hit count isn't up to date at this point. So at step (4), when filter A is moved by ocelot_vcap_filter_add() to make room for filter B, the hardware hit count is 0 (no packet matched on it in the meantime), but filter->stats.pkts is 1, because the last readout saw the earlier packet. The movement procedure programs the old hit count back to hardware, so this creates the impression to user space that more packets have been matched than they really were. The bug can be seen when running the gact_drop_and_ok_test() from the tc_actions.sh selftest. Fix the issue by reading back the hit count to tmp->stats.pkts before migrating the VCAP filter. Sure, this is a best-effort technique, since the packets that hit the rule between vcap_entry_get() and vcap_entry_set() won't be counted, but at least it allows the counters to be reliably used for selftests where the traffic is under control. The vcap_entry_get() name is a bit unintuitive, but it only reads back the counter portion of the TCAM entry, not the entire entry. The index from which we retrieve the counter is also a bit unintuitive (i - 1 during add, i + 1 during del), but this is the way in which TCAM entry movement works. The "entry index" isn't a stored integer for a TCAM filter, instead it is dynamically computed by ocelot_vcap_block_get_filter_index() based on the entry's position in the &block->rules list. That position (as well as block->count) is automatically updated by ocelot_vcap_filter_add_to_block() on add, and by ocelot_vcap_block_remove_filter() on del. So "i" is the new filter index, and "i - 1" or "i + 1" respectively are the old addresses of that TCAM entry (we only support installing/deleting one filter at a time). 2022-05-05net: mscc: ocelot: fix VCAP IS2 filters matching on both lookupsVladimir Oltean
The VCAP IS2 TCAM is looked up twice per packet, and each filter can be configured to only match during the first, second lookup, or both, or none. The blamed commit wrote the code for making VCAP IS2 filters match only on the given lookup. But right below that code, there was another line that explicitly made the lookup a "don't care", and this is overwriting the lookup we've selected. So the code had no effect. Some of the more noticeable effects of having filters match on both lookups: - in "tc -s filter show dev swp0 ingress", we see each packet matching a VCAP IS2 filter counted twice. This throws off scripts such as tools/testing/selftests/net/forwarding/tc_actions.sh and makes them fail. - a "tc-drop" action offloaded to VCAP IS2 needs a policer as well, because once the CPU port becomes a member of the destination port mask of a packet, nothing removes it, not even a PERMIT/DENY mask mode with a port mask of 0. But VCAP IS2 rules with the POLICE_ENA bit in the action vector can only appear in the first lookup. What happens when a filter matches both lookups is that the action vector is combined, and this makes the POLICE_ENA bit ineffective, since the last lookup in which it has appeared is the second one. In other words, "tc-drop" actions do not drop packets for the CPU port, dropped packets are still seen by software unless there was an FDB entry that directed those packets to some other place different from the CPU. The last bit used to work, because in the initial commit b596229448dd ("net: mscc: ocelot: Add support for tcam"), we were writing the FIRST field of the VCAP IS2 half key with a 1, not with a "don't care". The change to "don't care" was made inadvertently by me in commit c1c3993edb7c ("net: mscc: ocelot: generalize existing code for VCAP"), which I just realized, and which needs a separate fix from this one, for "stable" kernels that lack the commit blamed below. 2022-05-05net: mscc: ocelot: fix last VCAP IS1/IS2 filter persisting in hardware when ↵Vladimir Oltean
deleted ocelot_vcap_filter_del() works by moving the next filters over the current one, and then deleting the last filter by calling vcap_entry_set() with a del_filter which was specially created by memsetting its memory to zeroes. vcap_entry_set() then programs this to the TCAM and action RAM via the cache registers. The problem is that vcap_entry_set() is a dispatch function which looks at del_filter->block_id. But since del_filter is zeroized memory, the block_id is 0, or otherwise said, VCAP_ES0. So practically, what we do is delete the entry at the same TCAM index from VCAP ES0 instead of IS1 or IS2. The code was not always like this. vcap_entry_set() used to simply be is2_entry_set(), and then, the logic used to work. Restore the functionality by populating the block_id of the del_filter based on the VCAP block of the filter that we're deleting. This makes vcap_entry_set() know what to do. OCELOT_POLICER_DISCARD helps "kill dropped packets dead" since a PERMIT/DENY mask mode with a port mask of 0 isn't enough to stop the CPU port from receiving packets removed from the forwarding path. The hardcoded initialization done for it in ocelot_vcap_init() is confusing. All we need from it is to have a rate and a burst size of 0. Reuse qos_policer_conf_set() for that purpose. Per-flow mirroring with the VCAP IS2 TCAM (in itself handled as an offload for tc-flower) is done by setting the MIRROR_ENA bit from the action vector of the filter. The packet is mirrored to the port mask configured in the ANA:ANA:MIRRORPORTS register (the same port mask as the destinations for port-based mirroring). Functionality was tested with: tc qdisc add dev swp3 clsact tc filter add dev swp3 ingress protocol ip \ flower skip_sw ip_proto icmp \ action mirred egress mirror dev swp1 and pinging through swp3, while seeing that the ICMP replies are mirrored towards swp1. Some VCAP filters utilize resources which are global to the switch, like for example VCAP IS2 policers take an index into a global policer pool. In commit c9a7fe1238e5 ("net: mscc: ocelot: add action of police on vcap_is2"), Xiaoliang expressed this by hooking into the low-level ocelot_vcap_filter_add_to_block() and ocelot_vcap_block_remove_filter() functions, and allocating/freeing the policers from there. Evaluating the code, there probably isn't a better place, but we'll need to do something similar for the mirror ports, and the code will start to look even more hacked up than it is right now. Create two ocelot_vcap_filter_{add,del}_aux_resources() functions to contain the madness, and pollute less the body of other functions such as ocelot_vcap_filter_add_to_block(). When using the ocelot-8021q tagging protocol, the CPU port isn't configured as an NPI port, but is a regular port. So a "trap to CPU" operation is actually a "redirect" operation. So DSA needs to set up the trapping action one way or another, depending on the tagging protocol in use. To ease DSA's work of modifying the action, keep all currently installed traps in a list, so that DSA can live-patch them when the tagging protocol changes. 2021-11-26net: mscc: ocelot: create a function that replaces an existing VCAP filterVladimir Oltean
VCAP (Versatile Content Aware Processor) is the TCAM-based engine behind tc flower offload on ocelot, among other things. The ingress port mask on which VCAP rules match is present as a bit field in the actual key of the rule. This means that it is possible for a rule to be shared among multiple source ports. When the rule is added one by one on each desired port, that the ingress port mask of the key must be edited and rewritten to hardware. But the API in ocelot_vcap.c does not allow for this. For one thing, ocelot_vcap_filter_add() and ocelot_vcap_filter_del() are not symmetric, because ocelot_vcap_filter_add() works with a preallocated and prepopulated filter and programs it to hardware, and ocelot_vcap_filter_del() does both the job of removing the specified filter from hardware, as well as kfreeing it. That is to say, the only option of editing a filter in place, which is to delete it, modify the structure and add it back, does not work because it results in use-after-free. This patch introduces ocelot_vcap_filter_replace, which trivially reprograms a VCAP entry to hardware, at the exact same index at which it existed before, without modifying any list or allocating any memory. When ocelot_flower.c calls ocelot_vcap_filter_add(), the filter has a given filter->id.cookie. This filter is added to the block->rules list. However, when ocelot_flower.c calls ocelot_vcap_block_find_filter_by_id() which passes the cookie as argument, the filter is never found by filter->id.cookie when searching through the block->rules list. This is unsurprising, since the filter->id.cookie is an unsigned long, but the cookie argument provided to ocelot_vcap_block_find_filter_by_id() is a signed int, and the comparison fails. 2021-01-29net: dsa: felix: perform switch setup for tag_8021qVladimir Oltean
Unlike sja1105, the only other user of the software-defined tag_8021q.c tagger format, the implementation we choose for the Felix DSA switch driver preserves full functionality under a vlan_filtering bridge (i.e. IP termination works through the DSA user ports under all circumstances). The tag_8021q protocol just wants: - Identifying the ingress switch port based on the RX VLAN ID, as seen by the CPU. We achieve this by using the TCAM engines (which are also used for tc-flower offload) to push the RX VLAN as a second, outer tag, on egress towards the CPU port. - Steering traffic injected into the switch from the network stack towards the correct front port based on the TX VLAN, and consuming (popping) that header on the switch's egress. A tc-flower pseudocode of the static configuration done by the driver would look like this: $ tc qdisc add dev <cpu-port> clsact $ for eth in swp0 swp1 swp2 swp3; do \ tc filter add dev <cpu-port> egress flower indev ${eth} \ action vlan push id <rxvlan> protocol 802.1ad; \ tc filter add dev <cpu-port> ingress protocol 802.1Q flower vlan_id <txvlan> action vlan pop \ action mirred egress redirect dev ${eth}; \ done but of course since DSA does not register network interfaces for the CPU port, this configuration would be impossible for the user to do. Also, due to the same reason, it is impossible for the user to inadvertently delete these rules using tc. These rules do not collide in any way with tc-flower, they just consume some TCAM space, which is something we can live with. 2021-01-29net: mscc: ocelot: store a namespaced VCAP filter IDVladimir Oltean
We will be adding some private VCAP filters that should not interfere in any way with the filters added using tc-flower. So we need to allocate some IDs which will not be used by tc. Currently ocelot uses an u32 id derived from the flow cookie, which in itself is an unsigned long. This is a problem in itself, since on 64 bit systems, sizeof(unsigned long)=8, so the driver is already truncating these. Create a struct ocelot_vcap_id which contains the full unsigned long cookie from tc, as well as a boolean that is supposed to namespace the filters added by tc with the ones that aren't. 2020-10-02net: mscc: ocelot: relax ocelot_exclusive_mac_etype_filter_rules()Vladimir Oltean
The issue which led to the introduction of this check was that MAC_ETYPE rules, such as filters on dst_mac and src_mac, would only match non-IP frames. There is a knob in VCAP_S2_CFG which forces all IP frames to be treated as non-IP, which is what we're currently doing if the user requested a dst_mac filter, in order to maintain sanity. But that knob is actually per IS2 lookup. And the good thing with exposing the lookups to the user via tc chains is that we're now able to offload MAC_ETYPE keys to one lookup, and IP keys to the other lookup. So let's do that. 2020-10-02net: mscc: ocelot: offload ingress skbedit and vlan actions to VCAP IS1Xiaoliang Yang
VCAP IS1 is a VCAP module which can filter on the most common L2/L3/L4 Ethernet keys, and modify the results of the basic QoS classification and VLAN classification based on those flow keys. There are 3 VCAP IS1 lookups, mapped over chains 10000, 11000 and 12000. Currently the driver is hardcoded to use IS1_ACTION_TYPE_NORMAL half keys. Note that the VLAN_MANGLE has been omitted for now. In hardware, the VCAP_IS1_ACT_VID_REPLACE_ENA field replaces the classified VLAN (metadata associated with the frame) and not the VLAN from the header itself. There are currently some issues which need to be addressed when operating in standalone, or in bridge with vlan_filtering=0 modes, because in those cases the switch ports have VLAN awareness disabled, and changing the classified VLAN to anything other than the pvid causes the packets to be dropped. Another issue is that on egress, we expect port tagging to push the classified VLAN, but port tagging is disabled in the modes mentioned above, so although the classified VLAN is replaced, it is not visible in the packet transmitted by the switch. 2020-10-02net: mscc: ocelot: create TCAM skeleton from tc filter chainsVladimir Oltean
For Ocelot switches, there are 2 ingress pipelines for flow offload rules: VCAP IS1 (Ingress Classification) and IS2 (Security Enforcement). IS1 and IS2 support different sets of actions. The pipeline order for a packet on ingress is: Basic classification -> VCAP IS1 -> VCAP IS2 Furthermore, IS1 is looked up 3 times, and IS2 is looked up twice (each TCAM entry can be configured to match only on the first lookup, or only on the second, or on both etc). Because the TCAMs are completely independent in hardware, and because of the fixed pipeline, we actually have very limited options when it comes to offloading complex rules to them while still maintaining the same semantics with the software data path. This patch maps flow offload rules to ingress TCAMs according to a predefined chain index number. There is going to be a script in selftests that clarifies the usage model. There is also an egress TCAM (VCAP ES0, the Egress Rewriter), which is modeled on top of the default chain 0 of the egress qdisc, because it doesn't have multiple lookups. Suggested-by: Allan W. At this stage, the tc-flower offload of mscc_ocelot can only delegate rules to the VCAP IS2 security enforcement block. These rules have, in hardware, separate bits for policing and for overriding the destination port mask and/or copying to the CPU. So it makes sense that we attempt to expose some more of that low-level complexity instead of simply choosing between a single type of action. Something similar happens with the VCAP IS1 block, where the same action can contain enable bits for VLAN classification and for QoS classification at the same time. So model the action structure after the hardware description, and let the high-level ocelot_flower.c construct an action vector from multiple tc actions. Currently a new filter is created, containing just enough correct information to be able to call ocelot_vcap_block_find_filter_by_index() on it. This will be limiting us in the future, when we'll have more metadata associated with a filter, which will matter in the stats() and destroy() callbacks, and which we can't make up on the spot. For example, we'll start "offloading" some dummy tc filter entries for the TCAM skeleton, but we won't actually be adding them to the hardware, or to block->rules. By hardware definition, the entry (key) TCAM rows are divided into the same number of sub-words as its associated action RAM rows. But nonetheless, let's at least rename the variables such that observations like this one are easier to make in the future. When calculating the offsets for the current entry within the row and placing them inside struct vcap_data, the function assumes half key entry (2 keys per row). This patch modifies the vcap_data_offset_get() function to calculate a correct data offset when the setting VCAP Type-Group of a key to VCAP_TG_FULL or VCAP_TG_QUARTER. This is needed because, for example, VCAP ES0 only supports full keys. Also rename the 'count' variable to 'num_entries_per_row' to make the function just one tiny bit easier to follow. 2020-09-29net: mscc: ocelot: generalize existing code for VCAPVladimir Oltean
In the Ocelot switches there are 3 TCAMs: VCAP ES0, IS1 and IS2, which have the same configuration interface, but different sets of keys and actions. The driver currently only supports VCAP IS2. In preparation of VCAP IS1 and ES0 support, the existing code must be generalized to work with any VCAP. In that direction, we should move the structures that depend upon VCAP instantiation, like vcap_is2_keys and vcap_is2_actions, out of struct ocelot and into struct vcap_props .keys and .actions, a structure that is replicated 3 times, once per VCAP. We'll pass that structure as an argument to each function that does the key and action packing - only the control logic needs to distinguish between ocelot->vcap[VCAP_IS2] or IS1 or ES0. Another change is to make use of the newly introduced ocelot_target_read and ocelot_target_write API, since the 3 VCAPs have the same registers but put at different addresses. Although it doesn't look like it is possible to hit these conditions from user space, there are 2 separate, but related, issues. First, the ocelot_vcap_block_get_filter_index function, née ocelot_ace_rule_get_index_id prior to the aae4e500e106 ("net: mscc: ocelot: generalize the "ACE/ACL" names") rename, does not do what the author probably intended. If the desired filter entry is not present in the ACL block, this function returns an index equal to the total number of filters, instead of -1, which is maybe what was intended, judging from the curious initialization with -1, and the "++index" idioms. Either way, none of the callers seems to expect this behavior. Second issue, the callers don't actually check the return value at all. So in case the filter is not found in the rule list, propagate the return code. So update the callers and also take the opportunity to get rid of the odd coding idioms that appear to work but don't.
