2020-03-05sfc: complete the next packet when we receive a timestampTom Zhao
We now ignore the "completion" event when using tx queue timestamping, and only pay attention to the two (high and low) timestamp events. The NIC will send a pair of timestamp events for every packet transmitted. The current firmware may merge the completion events, and it is possible that future versions may reorder the completion and timestamp events. As such the completion event is not useful. Without this patch in place a merged completion event on a queue with timestamping will cause a "spurious TX completion" error. This affects SFN8000-series adapters. 2019-11-22sfc: do ARFS expiry work occasionally even without NAPI pollEdward Cree
If there's no traffic on a channel, its ARFS expiry work will never get scheduled by efx_poll() as that isn't being run. So make efx_filter_rfs_expire() reschedule itself to run after 30 seconds. 2019-11-22sfc: change ARFS expiry mechanismEdward Cree
The old rfs_filters_added method for determining the quota could potentially allow the NIC to become filled with old filters, which never get tested for expiry. Instead, explicitly make expiry check work depend on the number of filters installed, and don't count checking slots without filters in as doing work. This guarantees that each filter will be checked for expiry at least once every thirty seconds (assuming the channel to which it belongs is NAPI polling actively) regardless of fill level. 2018-03-27sfc: replace asynchronous filter operationsEdward Cree
Instead of having an efx->type->filter_rfs_insert() method, just use workitems with a worker function that calls efx->type->filter_insert(). The only user of this is efx_filter_rfs(), which now queues a call to efx_filter_rfs_work(). Similarly, efx_filter_rfs_expire() is now a worker function called on a new channel->filter_work work_struct, so the method efx->type->filter_rfs_expire_one() is no longer called in atomic context. We also add a new mutex efx->rps_mutex to protect the RPS state (efx-> rps_expire_channel, efx->rps_expire_index, and channel->rps_flow_id) so that the taking of efx->filter_lock can be moved to efx->type->filter_rfs_expire_one(). Thus, all filter table functions are now called in a sleepable context, allowing them to use sleeping locks in a future patch. 2018-01-10sfc: support the ethtool ksettings API properly so that 25/50/100G worksEdward Cree
Store and handle ethtool link mode masks within the driver instead of just a single u32. However, quite a significant amount of existing code wants to manipulate the masks directly, and thus now uses the first unsigned long (i.e. mask[0]) as though it were a legacy u32 mask. This is ok because all the bits that code is interested in are in the first 32 bits of the mask; but it might be a good idea to change them in future to use the proper bitmap API. 2016-08-12sfc: set interrupt moderation via MCDIBert Kenward

2016-02-17net: rework ndo tc op to consume additional qdisc handle parameterJohn Fastabend
The ndo_setup_tc() op was added to support drivers offloading tx qdiscs however only support for mqprio was ever added. 2015-08-28sfc: Allow driver to cope with a lower number of VIs than it needs for RSSShradha Shah
Previously, the driver would refuse to load if it couldn't secure enough VIs from the MC to fulfill its RSS requirements. This was causing probe to fail on later functions in configurations where we'd run out of VIs, such as having many VFs. This change allows the driver to load with fewer VIs, down to a minimum of 2. A warning will be printed saying that RSS requirements were not met, possibly affecting performance. efx->max_tx_channels needs to be set to avoid going down the failure path in efx_probe_nic() immediately in the loop after the probe() NIC-type function. 2015-05-21sfc: protect filter table against use-after-freeEdward Cree
If MCDI timeouts are encountered during efx_ef10_filter_table_remove(), an FLR will be queued, but efx->filter_state will still be kfree()d. The queued FLR will then call efx_ef10_filter_table_restore(), which will try to use efx->filter_state. This previously caused a panic. This patch adds an rwsem to protect the existence of efx->filter_state, separately from the spinlock protecting its contents. Users which can race against efx_ef10_filter_table_remove() should down_read this rwsem. Signed-off-by: Shradha Shah <sshah@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2015-05-09sfc: Own header for nic-specific sriov functions, single instance of ↵Shradha Shah
netdev_ops and sriov removed from Falcon code By putting all the efx_{siena,ef10}_sriov_* declarations in {siena,ef10}_sriov.h, ensure they cannot be called from nic-generic code. Also fixes up an instance of this, where mcdi.c was calling efx_siena_sriov_flr. The single instance of netdev_ops should call general high level functions that can then call something adapter specific in efx_nic_type. We should only do adapter specialisation via efx_nic_type. 2014-01-23sfc: Use the correct maximum TX DMA ring size for SFC9100Ben Hutchings
As part of a workaround for a hardware erratum in the SFC9100 family (SF bug 35388), the TX_DESC_UPD_DWORD register address is also used for communicating with the event block, and only descriptor pointer values < 2048 are valid. If the TX DMA ring size is increased to 4096 descriptors (which the firmware still allows) then we may write a descriptor pointer value >= 2048, which has entirely different and undesirable effects! Limit the TX DMA ring size correctly when this workaround is in effect. 2013-12-12sfc: Change priority and flags for automatic MAC filtersBen Hutchings
MAC filters inserted automatically by the driver, based on the device address list (EF10) or no-match filters (Siena), should be overridable at MANUAL or REQUIRED priority. Currently they themselves have REQUIRED priority and this requires some odd special-casing. We also can't reliably tell whether such a MAC filter has or has not been overridden. We just remember that it is wanted by the stack (RX_STACK flag). Add another priority level, AUTO, between HINT and MANUAL, and use this for the automatic filters while they have not been overridden. Remove the RX_STACK flag. Add an RX_OVER_AUTO flag which is set only when an AUTO filter has been overridden (or was requested to be inserted while a higher-priority filter existed). 2013-09-20sfc: Allocate and link PIO buffers; map them with write-combiningBen Hutchings
Try to allocate a segment of PIO buffer to each TX channel. If allocation fails, log an error but continue. PIO buffers must be mapped separately from the NIC registers, with write-combining enabled. Where the host page size is 4K, we could potentially map each VI's registers and PIO buffer separately. However, this would add significant complexity, and we also need to support architectures such as POWER which have a greater page size. So make a single contiguous write-combining mapping after the uncacheable mapping, aligned to the host page size, and link PIO buffers there. Where necessary, allocate additional VIs within the write-combining mapping purely for access to PIO buffers. Link all TX buffers to TX queues and the additional VIs in efx_ef10_dimension_resources() and in efx_ef10_init_nic() after an MC reboot. Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com>

2013-08-27sfc: Move MTD operations into efx_nic_typeBen Hutchings
Merge the per-NIC-type MTD probe selection and struct efx_mtd_ops into struct efx_nic_type. Move the implementations into the appropriate source files. Several NVRAM functions are now only called from MTD operations which are now implemented in the same file (falcon.c or mcdi.c). There is no need for them to be extern, or to be defined at all if CONFIG_SFC_MTD is not enabled, so move them into the #ifdef CONFIG_SFC_MTD sections in those files. Most of the SPI-related definitions are also only used in falcon.c, so move them there. Put the remainder of spi.h into nic.h (which previously included it). 2013-08-22sfc: Make most filter operations NIC-type-specificBen Hutchings
Aside from accelerated RFS, there is almost nothing that can be shared between the filter table implementations for the Falcon architecture and EF10. 2013-08-21sfc: Refactor queue teardown sequence to allow for EF10 flush behaviourBen Hutchings
Currently efx_stop_datapath() will try to flush our DMA queues (if DMA is enabled), then finalise software and hardware state for each queue. However, for EF10 we must ask the MC to finalise each queue, which implicitly starts flushing it, and then wait for the flush events. We therefore need to delegate more of this to the NIC type. Combine all the hardware operations into a new NIC-type operation efx_nic_type::fini_dmaq, and call this before tearing down the software state and buffers for all the DMA queues.
