2020-09-23net: stmmac: removed enabling eee in EEE set callbackVoon Weifeng
EEE should be only be enabled during stmmac_mac_link_up() when the link are up and being set up properly. set_eee should only do settings configuration and disabling the eee. Without this fix, turning on EEE using ethtool will return "Operation not supported". This is due to the driver is in a dead loop waiting for eee to be advertised in the for eee to be activated but the driver will only configure the EEE advertisement after the eee is activated. Ethtool should only return "Operation not supported" if there is no EEE capbility in the MAC controller. With the latest net-next tree, if test suspend/resume after enabling WOL, we get error as below: [ 487.086365] dpm_run_callback(): mdio_bus_suspend+0x0/0x30 returns -16 [ 487.086375] PM: Device stmmac-0:00 failed to suspend: error -16 -16 means -EBUSY, this is because I didn't enable wakeup of the correct device when implementing phy based WOL feature. To be honest, I caught the issue when implementing phy based WOL and then fix it locally, but forgot to amend the phy based wol patch. Today, I found the issue by testing net-next tree. We are saving the status of EEE even before we try to enable it. This leads to a race with XMIT function that tries to arm EEE timer before we set it up. Fix this by only saving the EEE parameters after all operations are performed with success. 2018-11-11net: ethernet: Convert phydev advertize and supported from u32 to link modeAndrew Lunn
There are a few MAC/PHYs combinations which now support > 1Gbps. These may need to make use of link modes with bits > 31. Thus their supported PHY features or advertised features cannot be implemented using the current bitmap in a u32. Convert to using a linkmode bitmap, which can support all the currently devices link modes, and is future proof as more modes are added. 2018-03-30net: stmmac: Add support for DWMAC5 and implement Safety FeaturesJose Abreu
This adds initial suport for DWMAC5 and implements the Automotive Safety Package which is available from core version 5.10. The Automotive Safety Pacakge (also called Safety Features) offers us with error protection in the core by implementing ECC Protection in memories, on-chip data path parity protection, FSM parity and timeout protection and Application/CSR interface timeout protection. 2017-07-24net: stmmac: Adjust dump offset of DMA registers for ethtoolThor Thayer
The commit fbf68229ffe7 ("net: stmmac: unify registers dumps methods") in the Linux kernel modified the register dump to store the DMA registers at the DMA register offset (0x1000) but ethtool (stmmac.c) looks for the DMA registers after the MAC registers which is offset 55. 2017-01-09stmmac: move stmmac_clk, pclk, clk_ptp_ref and stmmac_rst to platform structurejpinto
This patch moves stmmac_clk, pclk, clk_ptp_ref and stmmac_rst to the plat_stmmacenet_data structure. It also moves these platform variables initialization to stmmac_platform. This was done for two reasons: a) If PCI is used, platform related code is being executed in stmmac_main resulting in warnings that have no sense and conceptually was not right b) stmmac as a synopsys reference ethernet driver stack will be hosting more and more drivers to its structure like synopsys/dwc_eth_qos.c. These drivers have their own DT bindings that are not compatible with stmmac's. One of the most important are the clock names, and so they need to be parsed in the glue logic and initialized there, and that is the main reason why the clocks were passed to the platform structure. 2016-12-08net: stmmac: stmmac_platform: use correct setup function for gmac4Niklas Cassel
devicetree binding for stmmac states: - compatible: Should be "snps,dwmac-<ip_version>", "snps,dwmac" For backwards compatibility: "st,spear600-gmac" is also supported. Previously, when specifying "snps,dwmac-4.10a", "snps,dwmac" as your compatible string, plat_stmmacenet_data would have both has_gmac and has_gmac4 set. This would lead to stmmac_hw_init calling dwmac1000_setup rather than dwmac4_setup, resulting in a non-functional driver. This happened since the check for has_gmac is done before the check for has_gmac4. However, the order should not matter, so it does not make sense to have both set. If something is valid for both, you should do as the stmmac_interrupt does: if (priv->plat->has_gmac || priv->plat->has_gmac4) ... The places where it was obvious that the author actually meant if (has_gmac || has_gmac4) rather than if (has_gmac) has been updated. >From what I can tell, spin_lock(&priv->lock) is not needed, since the phy_ethtool_ksettings_set call is not given the priv struct. phy_start_aneg takes the phydev->lock. Calls to phy_adjust_link from phy_state_machine also takes the phydev->lock. All conflicts were simple overlapping changes except perhaps for the Thunder driver. That driver has a change_mtu method explicitly for sending a message to the hardware. If that fails it returns an error. Normally a driver doesn't need an ndo_change_mtu method becuase those are usually just range changes, which are now handled generically. But since this extra operation is needed in the Thunder driver, it has to stay. However, if the message send fails we have to restore the original MTU before the change because the entire call chain expects that if an error is thrown by ndo_change_mtu then the MTU did not change. Therefore code is added to nicvf_change_mtu to remember the original MTU, and to restore it upon nicvf_update_hw_max_frs() failue. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

By default, all gmac cores disable the PCS block and always enable the PMT. Note that this is done in a different way by 3.x and 4.x cores. With this rework, PCS and PMT interrupt masks can be driven by parameters now moved inside the mac_device_info structure and the settings follow what the HW capability register reports. The 3.xx and 4.xx synopsys gmacs have a very similar PCS embedded module and they share almost the same registers: for example: AN_Control, AN_Status, AN_Advertisement, AN_Link_Partner_Ability, AN_Expansion, TBI_Extended_Status. Just the RGMII/SMII Control/Status register differs. So This patch aims to reorganize and enhance the PCS support. It removes the existent support from the dwmac1000/dwmac4_core.c moving basic PCS functions inside a new file called: stmmac_pcs.h. The patch also reviews the available APIs to be better shared among different hardware and easily enhanced to support new features.
