2019-07-15hippi: Remove call to memset after pci_alloc_consistentFuqian Huang
pci_alloc_consistent calls dma_alloc_coherent directly. In commit 518a2f1925c3 ("dma-mapping: zero memory returned from dma_alloc_*"), dma_alloc_coherent has already zeroed the memory. So memset is not needed. Signed-off-by: Fuqian Huang <huangfq.daxian@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2018-06-12treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()Kees Cook
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This patch replaces cases of: kmalloc(a * b, gfp) with: kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp) with: kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own implementation of kmalloc(). The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( kmalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | kmalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; 2017-06-16networking: make skb_push & __skb_push return void pointersJohannes Berg
It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *, and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not. Make these functions return void * and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the following spatch: @@ expression SKB, LEN; typedef u8; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; @@ - *(fn(SKB, LEN)) + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN) @@ expression E, SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; type T; @@ - E = ((T *)(fn(SKB, LEN))) + E = fn(SKB, LEN) @@ expression SKB, LEN; identifier fn = { skb_push, __skb_push, skb_push_rcsum }; @@ - fn(SKB, LEN)[0] + *(u8 *)fn(SKB, LEN) Note that the last part there converts from push(...)[0] to the more idiomatic *(u8 *)push(...). 2017-05-08format-security: move static strings to constKees Cook
While examining output from trial builds with -Wformat-security enabled, many strings were found that should be defined as "const", or as a char array instead of char pointer. This makes some static analysis easier, by producing fewer false positives. As these are all trivial changes, it seemed best to put them all in a single patch rather than chopping them up per maintainer.
