2023-03-13net: phy: micrel: Add support for PTP_PF_PEROUT for lan8841Horatiu Vultur
Lan8841 has 10 GPIOs and it has 2 events(EVENT_A and EVENT_B). It is possible to assigned the 2 events to any of the GPIOs, but a GPIO can have only 1 event at a time. These events are used to generate periodic signals. It is possible to configure the length, the start time and the period of the signal by configuring the event. Currently the SW uses only EVENT_A to generate the perout. These events are generated by comparing the target time with the PHC time. In case the PHC time is changed to a value bigger than the target time + reload time, then it would generate only 1 event and then it would stop because target time + reload time is small than PHC time. Therefore it is required to change also the target time every time when the PHC is changed. The same will apply also when the PHC time is changed to a smaller value. This was tested using: testptp -L 6,2 testptp -p 1000000000 -w 200000000 Signed-off-by: Horatiu Vultur <horatiu.vultur@microchip.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230307214402.793057-1-horatiu.vultur@microchip.com Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

KSZ8563R, which has same PHYID as KSZ9477 family, will change "EEE control and capability 1" (Register 3.20) content depending on configuration of "EEE advertisement 1" (Register 7.60). Changes on the 7.60 will affect 3.20 register. So, instead of depending on register 3.20, driver should set supported_eee. Proper supported_eee configuration is needed to make use of generic PHY c45 set/get_eee functions provided by next patches. 2023-01-06net: phy: micrel: Change handler interrupt for lan8814Horatiu Vultur
The lan8814 represents a package of 4 PHYs. All of them are sharing the same interrupt line. So when a link was going down/up or a frame was timestamped, then the interrupt handler of all the PHYs was called. Which is all fine and expected but the problem is the way the handler interrupt works. Basically if one of the PHYs timestamp a frame, then all the other 3 PHYs were polling the status of the interrupt until that PHY actually cleared the interrupt by reading the timestamp. The reason of polling was in case another PHY was also timestamping a frame at the same time, it could miss this interrupt. But this is not the right approach, because it is the interrupt controller who needs to call the interrupt handlers again if the interrupt line is still active. Therefore change this such when the interrupt handler is called check only if the interrupt is for itself, otherwise just exit. In this way save CPU usage. 2022-01-19net: phy: micrel: use kszphy_suspend()/kszphy_resume for irq aware devicesClaudiu Beznea
On a setup with KSZ9131 and MACB drivers it happens on suspend path, from time to time, that the PHY interrupt arrives after PHY and MACB were suspended (PHY via genphy_suspend(), MACB via macb_suspend()). In this case the phy_read() at the beginning of kszphy_handle_interrupt() will fail (as MACB driver is suspended at this time) leading to phy_error() being called and a stack trace being displayed on console. To solve this .suspend/.resume functions for all KSZ devices implementing .handle_interrupt were replaced with kszphy_suspend()/kszphy_resume() which disable/enable interrupt before/after calling genphy_suspend()/genphy_resume(). The fix has been adapted for all KSZ devices which implements .handle_interrupt but it has been tested only on KSZ9131. 2021-10-20phy: micrel: ksz8041nl: do not use power down modeStefan Agner
Some Micrel KSZ8041NL PHY chips exhibit continuous RX errors after using the power down mode bit (0.11). If the PHY is taken out of power down mode in a certain temperature range, the PHY enters a weird state which leads to continuously reporting RX errors. In that state, the MAC is not able to receive or send any Ethernet frames and the activity LED is constantly blinking. Since Linux is using the suspend callback when the interface is taken down, ending up in that state can easily happen during a normal startup. Micrel confirmed the issue in errata DS80000700A [*], caused by abnormal clock recovery when using power down mode. Even the latest revision (A4, Revision ID 0x1513) seems to suffer that problem, and according to the errata is not going to be fixed. Remove the suspend/resume callback to avoid using the power down mode completely. 2021-10-14net: phy: micrel: make *-skew-ps check more lenientMatthias Schiffer
It seems reasonable to fine-tune only some of the skew values when using one of the rgmii-*id PHY modes, and even when all skew values are specified, using the correct ID PHY mode makes sense for documentation purposes. Such a configuration also appears in the binding docs in Documentation/devicetree/bindings/net/micrel-ksz90x1.txt, so the driver should not warn about it. Commit a5e63c7d38d5 "net: phy: micrel: Fix detection of ksz87xx switch" broke link detection on the external ports of the KSZ8795. The previously unused phy_driver structure for these devices specifies config_aneg and read_status functions that appear to be designed for a fixed link and do not work with the embedded PHYs in the KSZ8795. Delete the use of these functions in favour of the generic PHY implementations which were used previously. 2021-08-02net: phy: micrel: Fix detection of ksz87xx switchSteve Bennett
The logic for discerning between KSZ8051 and KSZ87XX PHYs is incorrect such that the that KSZ87XX switch is not identified correctly. ksz8051_ksz8795_match_phy_device() uses the parameter ksz_phy_id to discriminate whether it was called from ksz8051_match_phy_device() or from ksz8795_match_phy_device() but since PHY_ID_KSZ87XX is the same value as PHY_ID_KSZ8051, this doesn't work. Instead use a bool to discriminate the caller. Without this patch, the KSZ8795 switch port identifies as: ksz8795-switch spi3.1 ade1 (uninitialized): PHY [dsa-0.1:03] driver [Generic PHY] With the patch, it identifies correctly: ksz8795-switch spi3.1 ade1 (uninitialized): PHY [dsa-0.1:03] driver [Micrel KSZ87XX Switch] Fixes: 8b95599c55ed24b36cf4 ("net: phy: micrel: Discern KSZ8051 and KSZ8795 PHYs") Signed-off-by: Steve Bennett <steveb@workware.net.au> Reviewed-by: Marek Vasut <marex@denx.de> Signed-off-by: David S.
