2021-01-08ppp: clean up endianness conversionsJulian Wiedmann
sparse complains about some harmless endianness issues: > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:281:21: warning: incorrect type in assignment (different base types) > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:281:21: expected unsigned int [usertype] ack > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:281:21: got restricted __be32 > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:283:23: warning: cast to restricted __be32 Here 'ack' is assigned a value in network-order, and then also the byte-swapped value in host-order. Clean this up by doing the byte-swap as part of the assignment. > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:358:26: warning: cast from restricted __be16 > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:358:26: warning: incorrect type in argument 1 (different base types) > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:358:26: expected unsigned short [usertype] call_id > drivers/net/ppp/pptp.c:358:26: got restricted __be16 [usertype] Here we use the wrong flavour of byte-swap. Use ntohs(), which of course gives the same result. 2020-01-15pptp: support sockets bound to an interfaceUlrich Weber
use sk_bound_dev_if for route lookup as already done in most of the other ip_route_output_ports() calls. Since most PPPoA providers use 10.0.0.138 as default gateway IP this will allow connections to multiple PPTP providers with the same IP address over different interfaces. 2019-10-01netfilter: drop bridge nf reset from nf_resetFlorian Westphal
commit 174e23810cd31 ("sk_buff: drop all skb extensions on free and skb scrubbing") made napi recycle always drop skb extensions. The additional skb_ext_del() that is performed via nf_reset on napi skb recycle is not needed anymore. Most nf_reset() calls in the stack are there so queued skb won't block 'rmmod nf_conntrack' indefinitely. This removes the skb_ext_del from nf_reset, and renames it to a more fitting nf_reset_ct(). In a few selected places, add a call to skb_ext_reset to make sure that no active extensions remain. I am submitting this for "net", because we're still early in the release cycle. The patch applies to net-next too, but I think the rename causes needless divergence between those trees. 2019-07-30compat_ioctl: pppoe: fix PPPOEIOCSFWD handlingArnd Bergmann
Support for handling the PPPOEIOCSFWD ioctl in compat mode was added in linux-2.5.69 along with hundreds of other commands, but was always broken sincen only the structure is compatible, but the command number is not, due to the size being sizeof(size_t), or at first sizeof(sizeof((struct sockaddr_pppox)), which is different on 64-bit architectures. Guillaume Nault adds: And the implementation was broken until 2016 (see 29e73269aa4d ("pppoe: fix reference counting in PPPoE proxy")), and nobody ever noticed. I should probably have removed this ioctl entirely instead of fixing it. Clearly, it has never been used. Fix it by adding a compat_ioctl handler for all pppoe variants that translates the command number and then calls the regular ioctl function. All other ioctl commands handled by pppoe are compatible between 32-bit and 64-bit, and require compat_ptr() conversion. This should apply to all stable kernels. 2019-03-13pptp: dst_release sk_dst_cache in pptp_sock_destructXin Long
sk_setup_caps() is called to set sk->sk_dst_cache in pptp_connect, so we have to dst_release(sk->sk_dst_cache) in pptp_sock_destruct, otherwise, the dst refcnt will leak. It can be reproduced by this syz log: r1 = socket$pptp(0x18, 0x1, 0x2) bind$pptp(r1, &(0x7f0000000100)={0x18, 0x2, {0x0, @local}}, 0x1e) connect$pptp(r1, &(0x7f0000000000)={0x18, 0x2, {0x3, @remote}}, 0x1e) Consecutive dmesg warnings will occur: unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free. Usage count = 1 v1->v2: - use rcu_dereference_protected() instead of rcu_dereference_check(), as suggested by Eric. 2018-12-20ppp: Move PFC decompression to PPP generic layerSam Protsenko
Extract "Protocol" field decompression code from transport protocols to PPP generic layer, where it actually belongs. As a consequence, this patch fixes incorrect place of PFC decompression in L2TP driver (when it's not PPPOX_BOUND) and also enables this decompression for other protocols, like PPPoE. Protocol field decompression also happens in PPP Multilink Protocol code and in PPP compression protocols implementations (bsd, deflate, mppe). It looks like there is no easy way to get rid of that, so it was decided to leave it as is, but provide those cases with appropriate comments instead. Changes in v2: - Fix the order of checking skb data room and proto decompression - Remove "inline" keyword from ppp_decompress_proto() - Don't split line before function name - Prefix ppp_decompress_proto() function with "__" - Add ppp_decompress_proto() function with skb data room checks - Add description for introduced functions - Fix comments (as per review on mailing list) Signed-off-by: Sam Protsenko <semen.protsenko@linaro.org> Reviewed-by: Guillaume Nault <g.nault@alphalink.fr> Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-06-12treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc()Kees Cook
The vzalloc() function has no 2-factor argument form, so multiplication factors need to be wrapped in array_size(). This patch replaces cases of: vzalloc(a * b) with: vzalloc(array_size(a, b)) as well as handling cases of: vzalloc(a * b * c) with: vzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c)) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: vzalloc(4 * 1024) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( vzalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | vzalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; typedef u8; typedef __u8; @@ ( vzalloc( - sizeof(u8) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(__u8) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(char) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(unsigned char) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(u8) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(__u8) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(char) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(unsigned char) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) ) // 2-factor product with sizeof(type/expression) and identifier or constant. @@ type TYPE; expression THING; identifier COUNT_ID; constant COUNT_CONST; @@ ( vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT_ID) + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT_ID + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT_CONST) + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT_CONST + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT_ID) + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT_ID + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT_CONST) + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT_CONST + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(THING)) , ...) ) // 2-factor product, only identifiers. @@ identifier SIZE, COUNT; @@ vzalloc( - SIZE * COUNT + array_size(COUNT, SIZE) , ...) // 3-factor product with 1 sizeof(type) or sizeof(expression), with // redundant parens removed. @@ expression THING; identifier STRIDE, COUNT; type TYPE; @@ ( vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT) * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT) * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT) * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT) * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) ) // 3-factor product with 2 sizeof(variable), with redundant parens removed. @@ expression THING1, THING2; identifier COUNT; type TYPE1, TYPE2; @@ ( vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(TYPE2) * COUNT + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(TYPE2)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(THING2) * (COUNT) + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(TYPE2)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING1) * sizeof(THING2) * COUNT + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(THING1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(THING1) * sizeof(THING2) * (COUNT) + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(THING1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(THING2) * COUNT + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) | vzalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(THING2) * (COUNT) + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) ) // 3-factor product, only identifiers, with redundant parens removed. @@ identifier STRIDE, SIZE, COUNT; @@ ( vzalloc( - (COUNT) * STRIDE * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - COUNT * (STRIDE) * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - COUNT * STRIDE * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - (COUNT) * (STRIDE) * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - COUNT * (STRIDE) * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - (COUNT) * STRIDE * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - (COUNT) * (STRIDE) * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vzalloc( - COUNT * STRIDE * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) ) // Any remaining multi-factor products, first at least 3-factor products // when they're not all constants... @@ expression E1, E2, E3; constant C1, C2, C3; @@ ( vzalloc(C1 * C2 * C3, ...) | vzalloc( - E1 * E2 * E3 + array3_size(E1, E2, E3) , ...) ) // And then all remaining 2 factors products when they're not all constants. @@ expression E1, E2; constant C1, C2; @@ ( vzalloc(C1 * C2, ...) | vzalloc( - E1 * E2 + array_size(E1, E2) , ...) ) Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org>

2018-02-12net: make getname() functions return length rather than use int* parameterDenys Vlasenko
Changes since v1: Added changes in these files: drivers/infiniband/hw/usnic/usnic_transport.c drivers/staging/lustre/lnet/lnet/lib-socket.c drivers/target/iscsi/iscsi_target_login.c drivers/vhost/net.c fs/dlm/lowcomms.c fs/ocfs2/cluster/tcp.c security/tomoyo/network.c Before: All these functions either return a negative error indicator, or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter and return zero on success. "int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value it does not need. None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it. This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success, return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated from an error. Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed. rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently not used in any way. 2016-01-24pptp: fix illegal memory access caused by multiple bind()sHannes Frederic Sowa
Several times already this has been reported as kasan reports caused by syzkaller and trinity and people always looked at RCU races, but it is much more simple. :) In case we bind a pptp socket multiple times, we simply add it to the callid_sock list but don't remove the old binding. Thus the old socket stays in the bucket with unused call_id indexes and doesn't get cleaned up. This causes various forms of kasan reports which were hard to pinpoint. Simply don't allow multiple binds and correct error handling in pptp_bind. Also keep sk_state bits in place in pptp_connect. 2014-06-02inetpeer: get rid of ip_id_countEric Dumazet
Ideally, we would need to generate IP ID using a per destination IP generator. linux kernels used inet_peer cache for this purpose, but this had a huge cost on servers disabling MTU discovery. 1) each inet_peer struct consumes 192 bytes 2) inetpeer cache uses a binary tree of inet_peer structs, with a nominal size of ~66000 elements under load. 3) lookups in this tree are hitting a lot of cache lines, as tree depth is about 20. 4) If server deals with many tcp flows, we have a high probability of not finding the inet_peer, allocating a fresh one, inserting it in the tree with same initial ip_id_count, (cf secure_ip_id()) 5) We garbage collect inet_peer aggressively. IP ID generation do not have to be 'perfect' Goal is trying to avoid duplicates in a short period of time, so that reassembly units have a chance to complete reassembly of fragments belonging to one message before receiving other fragments with a recycled ID. We simply use an array of generators, and a Jenkin hash using the dst IP as a key. ipv6_select_ident() is put back into net/ipv6/ip6_output.c where it belongs (it is only used from this file) secure_ip_id() and secure_ipv6_id() no longer are needed. Rename ip_select_ident_more() to ip_select_ident_segs() to avoid unnecessary decrement/increment of the number of segments. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-09-19ip: generate unique IP identificator if local fragmentation is allowedAnsis Atteka
If local fragmentation is allowed, then ip_select_ident() and ip_select_ident_more() need to generate unique IDs to ensure correct defragmentation on the peer. For example, if IPsec (tunnel mode) has to encrypt large skbs that have local_df bit set, then all IP fragments that belonged to different ESP datagrams would have used the same identificator. If one of these IP fragments would get lost or reordered, then peer could possibly stitch together wrong IP fragments that did not belong to the same datagram. This would lead to a packet loss or data corruption. Signed-off-by: Ansis Atteka <aatteka@nicira.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-08-13pptp: fix byte order warningsstephen hemminger
Pptp driver has lots of byte order warnings from sparse. This was because the on-the-wire header is in network byte order (obviously) but the definition did not reflect that. Also, the address structure to user space actually put the call id in host order. Rather than break ABI compatibility, just acknowledge the existing design. 2012-03-04ppp: Move ioctl definitions from if_ppp.h to new ppp-ioctl.hPaul Mackerras
This moves the definitions of the ioctls, constants and structures relating to the ppp_generic interface to userspace out from if_ppp.h to a new file, ppp-ioctl.h. The new file has my copyright since I designed and implemented the ppp_generic interface in the late 1990s. None of the contents of this file comes from the original if_ppp.h published by Carnegie Mellon University. Of the remainder of if_ppp.h, only the PPP_MTU definition was being used, and this replaces the uses of it with PPP_MRU (which is identical). Therefore, this replaces the entire file with the single line #include <linux/ppp-ioctl.h> which clearly doesn't contain any CMU code. Thus I have removed the CMU copyright notice with its problematic advertising clause, and in fact since it's only one trivial line I have not added any other copyright notice.
