2016-10-14net: wan: slic_ds26522: Export OF module alias informationJavier Martinez Canillas
When the device is registered via OF, the OF table is used to match the driver instead of the SPI device ID table, but the entries in the later are used as aliasses to load the module if the driver was not built-in. This is because the SPI core always reports an SPI module alias instead of an OF one, but that could change so it's better to always export it. 2016-10-13net: deprecate eth_change_mtu, remove usageJarod Wilson
With centralized MTU checking, there's nothing productive done by eth_change_mtu that isn't already done in dev_set_mtu, so mark it as deprecated and remove all usage of it in the kernel. All callers have been audited for calls to alloc_etherdev* or ether_setup directly, which means they all have a valid dev->min_mtu and dev->max_mtu. Now eth_change_mtu prints out a netdev_warn about being deprecated, for the benefit of out-of-tree drivers that might be utilizing it. Of note, dvb_net.c actually had dev->mtu = 4096, while using eth_change_mtu, meaning that if you ever tried changing it's mtu, you couldn't set it above 1500 anymore. Use managed resource functions devm_kzalloc and pcim_enable_device to simplify error handling. Subsequently, remove unnecessary kfree, pci_disable_device and pci_release_regions. To be compatible with the change, various gotos are replaced with direct returns and unneeded labels are dropped. Also, `sc` was only being freed in the probe function and not the remove function before the change. By using devm_kzalloc this patch also fixes this memory leak. The cosa driver is rather outdated and does not get built on most platforms because it requires the ISA_DMA_API symbol. Testing xmit_more support with netperf and connected UDP sockets, I found strange dst refcount false sharing. Current handling of IFF_XMIT_DST_RELEASE is not optimal. Dropping dst in validate_xmit_skb() is certainly too late in case packet was queued by cpu X but dequeued by cpu Y The logical point to take care of drop/force is in __dev_queue_xmit() before even taking qdisc lock. As Julian Anastasov pointed out, need for skb_dst() might come from some packet schedulers or classifiers. This patch adds new helper to cleanly express needs of various drivers or qdiscs/classifiers. Drivers that need skb_dst() in their ndo_start_xmit() should call following helper in their setup instead of the prior : dev->priv_flags &= ~IFF_XMIT_DST_RELEASE; -> netif_keep_dst(dev); Instead of using a single bit, we use two bits, one being eventually rebuilt in bonding/team drivers. The other one, is permanent and blocks IFF_XMIT_DST_RELEASE being rebuilt in bonding/team. Eventually, we could add something smarter later. The Linux kernel coding style guidelines suggest not using typedefs for structure types. This patch gets rid of the typedefs for port_t, card_status_t and card_t. Also, the names of the structs are changed to drop the _t, to make the name look less typedef-like. The Linux kernel coding style guidelines suggest not using typedefs for structure types. This patch gets rid of the typedefs for fr_hdr and pvc_device. Also, the names of the structs are changed to drop the _t, to make the name look less typedef-like. If "newmtu * 2 + 4" is too large then it can cause an integer overflow leading to memory corruption. Eric Dumazet suggests that 65534 is a reasonable upper limit.
