2012-09-10mac80211: add key flag for management keysJohannes Berg
Mark keys that might be used to receive management frames so drivers can fall back on software crypto for them if they don't support hardware offload. As the new flag is only set correctly for RX keys and the existing IEEE80211_KEY_FLAG_SW_MGMT flag can only affect TX, also rename the latter to IEEE80211_KEY_FLAG_SW_MGMT_TX. 2012-08-21ath5k: fix wrong max power per rate eeprom reads for 802.11aThomas Huehn
This patch reduces the per rate target power eeprom reads for AR5K_EEPROM_MODE_11A from 10 to 8, as there are only 8 valid power curve entries on the eeprom. The former 10 reads lead to equal max power limits per rate and this causes an increasing distortion for all rates above 24 MBit and leads to a needless poor performance in 802.11a mode. 2012-08-13ath5k: fix spin_lock_irqsave/spin_lock_bh nesting in meshBob Copeland
Lockdep found an inconsistent lock state when joining a mesh with ath5k. The problem is that ath5k takes the lock for its beacon state, ah->block, with spin_lock_irqsave(), while mesh internally takes the sync_offset_lock with spin_lock_bh() in mesh_sync_offset_adjust_tbtt(), which in turn is called under ah->block. This could deadlock if the beacon tasklet was run on the processor that held the beacon lock during the do_softirq() in spin_unlock_bh(). We probably shouldn't hold the lock around the callbacks, but the easiest fix is to switch to spin_lock_bh for ah->block: it doesn't need interrupts disabled anyway as the data in question is only accessed in softirq or process context. Make sure we don't store the table offsets for min and cur power levels, store the 0.25dB values instead. This way we don't clamp the tx power level to max (because now cur_pwr holds the 0.25dB value, not the table offset) after re-using cur_pwr on reset. 2012-07-31mac80211: move TX station pointer and restructure TXThomas Huehn
Remove the control.sta pointer from ieee80211_tx_info to free up sufficient space in the TX skb control buffer for the upcoming Transmit Power Control (TPC). Instead, the pointer is now on the stack in a new control struct that is passed as a function parameter to the drivers' tx method. In 'net' we added a bug fix to make iwlwifi report a more accurate skb->truesize but this conflicted with RX path changes that happened meanwhile in net-next. 2012-03-06ath5k: do not stop queues for full calibrationFelix Fietkau
Some calibration types interfere with tx activity, but the queue stop does not prevent that. In fact, some calibration types need tx activity to properly function, so stopping the queues for them is counterproductive. In some tests this patch has been shown to improve stability, especially in AP or ad-hoc mode. According to documentation higher DCUs have higher priority and should be used for beacons and CAB traffic. More specifically DCU 9 should be used for beacons and DCU 8 for CAB traffic, I assumed DCU 7 should be OK for UAPSD traffic. Note that DCU 8 and 9 are special because they can only be mapped to a single QCU each but since we use a 1:1 mapping between QCUs and DCUs anyway we don't have to change much. P.S.
