The debugfs_create_dir() function returns error pointers,
it never returns NULL. Most incorrect error checks were fixed,
but the one in ath9k_htc_init_debug() was forgotten.
Fix the remaining error check.

If ath9k_wmi_cmd() has exited with a timeout, it is possible that during
next ath9k_wmi_cmd() call the wmi_rsp callback for previous wmi command
writes to new wmi->cmd_rsp_buf and makes a completion. This results in an
invalid ath9k_wmi_cmd() return value.
Move the replacement of WMI command response buffer and length under
wmi_lock. Note that last_seq_id value is updated there, too.
Thus, the buffer cannot be written to by a belated wmi_rsp callback
because that path is properly rejected by the last_seq_id check.

Currently, the synchronization between ath9k_wmi_cmd() and
ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx() is exposed to a race condition which, although being
rather unlikely, can lead to invalid behaviour of ath9k_wmi_cmd().
Consider the following scenario:
CPU0 CPU1
ath9k_wmi_cmd(...)
mutex_lock(&wmi->op_mutex)
ath9k_wmi_cmd_issue(...)
wait_for_completion_timeout(...)
---
timeout
---
/* the callback is being processed
* before last_seq_id became zero
*/
ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx(...)
spin_lock_irqsave(...)
/* wmi->last_seq_id check here
* doesn't detect timeout yet
*/
spin_unlock_irqrestore(...)
/* last_seq_id is zeroed to
* indicate there was a timeout
*/
wmi->last_seq_id = 0
mutex_unlock(&wmi->op_mutex)
return -ETIMEDOUT
ath9k_wmi_cmd(...)
mutex_lock(&wmi->op_mutex)
/* the buffer is replaced with
* another one
*/
wmi->cmd_rsp_buf = rsp_buf
wmi->cmd_rsp_len = rsp_len
ath9k_wmi_cmd_issue(...)
spin_lock_irqsave(...)
spin_unlock_irqrestore(...)
wait_for_completion_timeout(...)
/* the continuation of the
* callback left after the first
* ath9k_wmi_cmd call
*/
ath9k_wmi_rsp_callback(...)
/* copying data designated
* to already timeouted
* WMI command into an
* inappropriate wmi_cmd_buf
*/
memcpy(...)
complete(&wmi->cmd_wait)
/* awakened by the bogus callback
* => invalid return result
*/
mutex_unlock(&wmi->op_mutex)
return 0
To fix this, update last_seq_id on timeout path inside ath9k_wmi_cmd()
under the wmi_lock. Move ath9k_wmi_rsp_callback() under wmi_lock inside
ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx() so that the wmi->cmd_wait can be completed only for
initially designated wmi_cmd call, otherwise the path would be rejected
with last_seq_id check.

Smatch reports:
ath_pci_probe() warn: argument 4 to %lx specifier is cast from pointer
ath_ahb_probe() warn: argument 4 to %lx specifier is cast from pointer
Fix it by modifying %lx to %p in the printk format string.
Note that with this change, the pointer address will be printed as a
hashed value by default. This is appropriate because the kernel
should not leak kernel pointers to user space in an informational
message. If someone wants to see the real address for debugging
purposes, this can be achieved with the no_hash_pointers kernel option.

In both cases, the compiler complains on:
memcpy(ba, &ts->ba_low, WME_BA_BMP_SIZE >> 3);
which is the legal way to copy both 'ba_low' and following 'ba_high'
members of 'struct ath_tx_status' at once (that is, issue one 8-byte
'memcpy()' for two 4-byte fields). Since the fortification logic seems
interprets this trick as an attempt to overread 4-byte 'ba_low', silence
relevant warnings by using the convenient 'struct_group()' quirk.

For the reasons also described in commit b383e8abed41 ("wifi: ath9k: avoid
uninit memory read in ath9k_htc_rx_msg()"), ath9k_htc_rx_msg() should
validate pkt_len before accessing the SKB.
For example, the obtained SKB may have been badly constructed with
pkt_len = 8. In this case, the SKB can only contain a valid htc_frame_hdr
but after being processed in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() and passed to
ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx() endpoint RX handler, it is expected to have a WMI
command header which should be located inside its data payload.
Implement sanity checking inside ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx(). Otherwise, uninit
memory can be referenced.

ath9k_mci_update_wlan_channels()
This partially reverts commit e161d4b60ae3a5356e07202e0bfedb5fad82c6aa.
Turns out the channelmap variable is not actually read-only, it's modified
through the MCI_GPM_CLR_CHANNEL_BIT() macro further down in the function,
so making it read-only causes page faults when that code is hit.

Fix incorrect usage of plain rate_idx as index into the max (power) per
rate lookup table.
For transmit power control (TPC), the ath9k driver maintains internal
tables (in struct ath_hw) to store the max allowed power level per rate.
They are used to limit a given TX-power according to regulatory and user
limits in the TX-path per packet. The tables are filled in a predefined
order, starting with values for CCK + OFDM rates and followed by the
values for MCS rates. Thus, the maximum power levels for MCS do not
start at index 0 in the table but are shifted by a fixed value.
The TX-power limiting in ath_get_rate_txpower currently does not apply
this shift, thus retrieves the incorrect maximum power level for a given
rate. In particular for MCS rates, the maximum power levels for CCK/OFDM
rates were used, e.g. maximum power for OFDM 0 was used for MCS 0. If
STBC is used, the power is mostly limited to 0 because the STBC table
is zeroed for legacy CCK/OFDM rates. Encountered this during testing of
our work-in-progress TPC per packet for ath9k.
This only has an effect when TPC is enabled in ath9k (tpc_enabled in
struct ath_hw) which defaults to false. In this case it has a
significant impact on the used TX-power, throughput + RSSI. Otherwise
the affected code is just skipped and TX-power is limited with the
hardware registers only. This patch fixes this table lookup.
Tested on OpenWrt (kernel 5.15.98, but backported ath9k driver) with
small desk setup using ath9k chips AR9280 and AR9580. Cap of TX-power is
working properly for all rates now, throughput and RSSI as expected,
equal to as if TPC was disabled.

hif_dev->remain_skb is allocated and used exclusively in
ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). It is implied that an allocated remain_skb is
processed and subsequently freed (in error paths) only during the next
call of ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream().
So, if the urbs are deallocated between those two calls due to the device
deinitialization or suspend, it is possible that ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream()
is not called next time and the allocated remain_skb is leaked. Our local
Syzkaller instance was able to trigger that.
remain_skb makes sense when receiving two consecutive urbs which are
logically linked together, i.e. a specific data field from the first skb
indicates a cached skb to be allocated, memcpy'd with some data and
subsequently processed in the next call to ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(). Urbs
deallocation supposedly makes that link irrelevant so we need to free the
cached skb in those cases.
Fix the leak by introducing a function to explicitly free remain_skb (if
it is not NULL) when the rx urbs have been deallocated. remain_skb is NULL
when it has not been allocated at all (hif_dev struct is kzalloced) or
when it has been processed in next call to ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream().

While processing skbs in ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream(), the already allocated
skbs in skb_pool are not freed if ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream() fails. If we
have an incorrect pkt_len or pkt_tag, the input skb is considered invalid
and dropped. All the associated packets already in skb_pool should be
dropped and freed. Added a comment describing this issue.
The patch also makes remain_skb NULL after being processed so that it
cannot be referenced after potential free. The initialization of hif_dev
fields which are associated with remain_skb (rx_remain_len,
rx_transfer_len and rx_pad_len) is moved after a new remain_skb is
allocated.

function
It is stated that ath9k_htc_rx_msg() either frees the provided skb or
passes its management to another callback function. However, the skb is
not freed in case there is no another callback function, and Syzkaller was
able to cause a memory leak. Also minor comment fix.

This patch fixes a use-after-free in ath9k that occurs in
ath9k_hif_usb_disconnect() when ath9k_destroy_wmi() is trying to access
'drv_priv' that has already been freed by ieee80211_free_hw(), called by
ath9k_htc_hw_deinit(). The patch moves ath9k_destroy_wmi() before
ieee80211_free_hw(). Note that urbs from the driver should be killed
before freeing 'wmi' with ath9k_destroy_wmi() as their callbacks will
access 'wmi'.

====================
pull-request: wireless-next-2022-10-28
First set of patches v6.2. mac80211 refactoring continues for Wi-Fi 7.
All mac80211 driver are now converted to use internal TX queues, this
might cause some regressions so we wanted to do this early in the
cycle.
Note: wireless tree was merged[1] to wireless-next to avoid some
conflicts with mac80211 patches between the trees. Unfortunately there
are still two smaller conflicts in net/mac80211/util.c which Stephen
also reported[2]. In the first conflict initialise scratch_len to
"params->scratch_len ?: 3 * params->len" (note number 3, not 2!) and
in the second conflict take the version which uses elems->scratch_pos.

mac80211
- preparation for Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Link Operation (MLO) continues
- add API to show the link STAs in debugfs
- all mac80211 drivers are now using mac80211 internal TX queues (iTXQs)
rtw89
- support 8852BE
rtl8xxxu
- support RTL8188FU
brmfmac
- support two station interfaces concurrently

The bug arises when a USB device claims to be an ATH9K but doesn't
have the expected endpoints. (In this case there was an interrupt
endpoint where the driver expected a bulk endpoint.) The kernel
needs to be able to handle such devices without getting an internal error.

It is possible that skb is freed in ath9k_htc_rx_msg(), then
usb_submit_urb() fails and we try to free skb again. It causes
use-after-free bug. Moreover, if alloc_skb() fails, urb->context becomes
NULL but rx_buf is not freed and there can be a memory leak.
The patch removes unnecessary nskb and makes skb processing more clear: it
is supposed that ath9k_htc_rx_msg() either frees old skb or passes its
managing to another callback function.

Syzkaller reports a long-known leak of urbs in
ath9k_hif_usb_dealloc_tx_urbs().
The cause of the leak is that usb_get_urb() is called but usb_free_urb()
(or usb_put_urb()) is not called inside usb_kill_urb() as urb->dev or
urb->ep fields have not been initialized and usb_kill_urb() returns
immediately.
The patch removes trying to kill urbs located in hif_dev->tx.tx_buf
because hif_dev->tx.tx_buf is not supposed to contain urbs which are in
pending state (the pending urbs are stored in hif_dev->tx.tx_pending).
The tx.tx_lock is acquired so there should not be any changes in the list.

with uninitialized memory and ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is reading from
uninitialized memory.
Since bytes accessed by ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is not known until
ath9k_htc_rx_msg() is called, it would be difficult to check minimal valid
pkt_len at "if (pkt_len > 2 * MAX_RX_BUF_SIZE) {" line in
ath9k_hif_usb_rx_stream().
We have two choices. One is to workaround by adding __GFP_ZERO so that
ath9k_htc_rx_msg() sees 0 if pkt_len is invalid. The other is to let
ath9k_htc_rx_msg() validate pkt_len before accessing. This patch chose
the latter.
Note that I'm not sure threshold condition is correct, for I can't find
details on possible packet length used by this protocol.

There are two deadlock scenarios that need addressing, which cause
problems when the computer goes to sleep, the interface is set down, and
hwrng_unregister() is called. When the deadlock is hit, sleep is delayed
for tens of seconds, causing it to fail. These scenarios are:
1) The hwrng kthread can't be stopped while it's sleeping, because it
uses msleep_interruptible() which does not react to kthread_stop.
2) A normal user thread can't be interrupted by hwrng_unregister() while
it's sleeping, because hwrng_unregister() is called from elsewhere.
We solve both issues by add a completion object called dying that
fulfils waiters once we have started the process in hwrng_unregister.
At the same time, we should cleanup a common and useless dmesg splat
in the same area.
