2019-02-19brcmfmac: rework bphy_err() to take struct brcmf_pub argumentRafał Miłecki
This macro will be used in more places not just the cfg80211.c. It makes sense to pass some common struct to it as "struct wiphy" is mostly referenced in cfg80211 code only. A very common one (used above the bus abstraction layer) is struct brcmf_pub. Many functions already keep reference to it which will make using bphy_err() simpler. It should also allow extending that macro's logic if it's ever needed. This improves code recently added in the commit 3ef005b82e2a ("brcmfmac: add bphy_err() and use it in the cfg80211.c"). 2019-02-08brcmfmac: add bphy_err() and use it in the cfg80211.cRafał Miłecki
This new macro uses wiphy_err() which: 1) Should be the best choice with wiphy already created 2) Uses dev_err() which allows identifying error-affected device Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <rafal@milecki.pl> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>
2019-02-08brcmfmac: pass bus to the __brcmf_err() in pcie.cRafał Miłecki
This enables dev_err() usage (instead of pr_err()) in the __brcmf_err(). It makes error messages more meaningful and is important for debugging errors/bugs on systems with multiple brcmfmac supported devices. All bus files should follow & get updated similarly (soon). 2019-02-08brcmfmac: modify __brcmf_err() to take bus as a parameterRafał Miłecki
So far __brcmf_err() was using pr_err() which didn't allow identifying device that was affected by an error. It's crucial for systems with more than 1 device supported by brcmfmac (a common case for home routers). This change allows passing struct brcmf_bus to the __brcmf_err(). That struct has been agreed to be the most common one. It allows accessing struct device easily & using dev_err() printing helper. 2018-03-27brcmfmac: use wiphy debugfs dir entryArend Van Spriel
The driver used to create a brcmfmac dir entry at the top level debugfs mount point. This moves the debugfs entries into the wiphy debugfs dir entry. 2017-06-13brcmfmac: add support multi-scheduled scanArend Van Spriel
This change adds support for multi-scheduled scan in the driver. It currently relies on g-scan support in firmware and will set struct wiphy::max_sched_scan_reqs accordingly. This is limited to 16 concurrent requests. The firmware currently has a limit of 64 channels that can be configured for all requests in total regardless whether there are duplicates. So if a request uses 35 channels there are 29 channels left for another request. When user-space does not specify any channels cfg80211 will add all channels defined by the wiphy instance to the request, which makes reaching the limit rather easy for dual-band devices. 2017-03-20brcmfmac: Do not print the firmware version as an errorHans de Goede
Using pr_err for things which are not errors is a bad idea. E.g. it will cause the plymouth bootsplash screen to drop back to the text console so that the user can see the error, which is not what we normally want to happen. Instead add a new brcmf_info macro and use that. 2017-03-20brcmfmac: always print error when PSM's watchdog firesRafał Miłecki
So far we were attaching BRCMF_E_PSM_WATCHDOG event listener in brcmf_debug_attach which gets compiled only with CONFIG_BRCMDBG. This event means something went wrong and firmware / hardware usually can't be expected to work (reliably). Such a problem is significant for user experience so I believe we should print an error unconditionally (even with debugging disabled). What can be indeed optional is dumping bus memory as this is clearly part of debugging process. In the future we may also try to extend this listener by trying to recover from the error or at least signal it to the cfg80211.
