2023-09-30wifi: mt76: mt7921e: Support MT7992 IP in Xiaomi Redmibook 15 Pro (2023)Ingo Rohloff
In the Xiaomi Redmibook 15 Pro (2023) laptop I have got, a wifi chip is used, which according to its PCI Vendor ID is from "ITTIM Technology". This chip works flawlessly with the mt7921e module. The driver doesn't bind to this PCI device, because the Vendor ID from "ITTIM Technology" is not recognized. This patch adds the PCI Vendor ID from "ITTIM Technology" to the list of PCI Vendor IDs and lets the mt7921e driver bind to the mentioned wifi chip. 2023-09-30wifi: mt76: remove unused error path in mt76_connac_tx_complete_skbFelix Fietkau
The error handling code was added in order to allow tx enqueue to fail after calling .tx_prepare_skb. Since this can no longer happen, the error handling code is unused. Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name>
2023-09-30wifi: mt76: fix race condition related to checking tx queue fill statusFelix Fietkau
When drv_tx calls race against local tx scheduling, the queue fill status checks can potentially race, leading to dma queue entries being overwritten. Fix this by deferring packets from drv_tx calls to the tx worker, in order to ensure that all regular queue tx comes from the same context. 2023-09-30wifi: mt76: use atomic iface iteration for pre-TBTT workJohannes Berg
In addition to the previous series I posted, over time I'd also like to get rid of the iflist_mtx in mac80211. That isn't easy now since lots of places use iteration and would have to be audited, but even a cursory look suggests that mt76 might be more problematic than most since holding the wiphy lock for the latency-sensitive pre-TBTT work could be an issue. Convert the pre-TBTT work to use atomic iteration and then sending the device commands outside of it. 2023-09-30wifi: mt76: mt7603: improve stuck beacon handlingFelix Fietkau
Before preparing the new beacon, check the queue status, flush out all previous beacons and buffered multicast packets, then (if necessary) try to recover more gracefully from a stuck beacon condition by making a less invasive attempt at getting the MAC un-stuck. 2023-09-30wifi: mt76: mt7603: improve watchdog reset reliablityFelix Fietkau
Only trigger PSE reset if PSE was stuck, otherwise it can cause DMA issues. Trigger the PSE reset while DMA is fully stopped in order to improve reliabilty. Fixes: c8846e101502 ("mt76: add driver for MT7603E and MT7628/7688") Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name>
2023-09-30wifi: mt76: mt7603: rework/fix rx pse hang checkFelix Fietkau
It turns out that the code in mt7603_rx_pse_busy() does not detect actual hardware hangs, it only checks for busy conditions in PSE. A reset should only be performed if these conditions are true and if there is no rx activity as well. Reset the counter whenever a rx interrupt occurs. In order to also deal with a fully loaded CPU that leaves interrupts disabled with continuous NAPI polling, also check for pending rx interrupts in the function itself. Fixes: c8846e101502 ("mt76: add driver for MT7603E and MT7628/7688") Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name>
2023-09-22wifi: mt76: mt76x02: fix MT76x0 external LNA gain handlingFelix Fietkau
On MT76x0, LNA gain should be applied for both external and internal LNA. On MT76x2, LNA gain should be treated as 0 for external LNA. Move the LNA type based logic to mt76x2 in order to fix mt76x0. Fixes: 2daa67588f34 ("mt76x0: unify lna_gain parsing") Reported-by: Shiji Yang <yangshiji66@outlook.com> Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name> Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230919194747.31647-1-nbd@nbd.name

2023-09-11wifi: cfg80211: annotate iftype_data pointer with sparseJohannes Berg
There were are a number of cases in mac80211 and iwlwifi (at least) that used the sband->iftype_data pointer directly, instead of using the accessors to find the right array entry to use. Make sparse warn when such a thing is done. To not have a lot of casts, add two helper functions/macros - ieee80211_set_sband_iftype_data() - for_each_sband_iftype_data() Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

2023-08-25Fix nomenclature for USB and PCI wireless devicesAlan Stern
A mouse that uses a USB connection is called a "USB mouse" device (or "USB mouse" for short), not a "mouse USB" device. By analogy, a WiFi adapter that connects to the host computer via USB is a "USB wireless" device, not a "wireless USB" device. (The latter term more properly refers to a defunct Wireless USB specification, which described a technology for sending USB protocol messages over an ultra wideband radio link.) Similarly for a WiFi adapter card that plugs into a PCIe slot: It is a "PCIe wireless" device, not a "wireless PCIe" device. Rephrase the text in the kernel source where the word ordering is wrong. 2023-08-09USB: Remove remnants of Wireless USB and UWBAlan Stern
Wireless USB has long been defunct, and kernel support for it was removed in 2020 by commit caa6772db4c1 ("Staging: remove wusbcore and UWB from the kernel tree."). Nevertheless, some vestiges of the old implementation still clutter up the USB subsystem and one or two other places. Let's get rid of them once and for all. The only parts still left are the user-facing APIs in include/uapi/linux/usb/ch9.h. (There are also a couple of misleading instances, such as the Sierra Wireless USB modem, which is a USB modem made by Sierra Wireless.) Split types and pure function declarations from page_pool.h and add them in page_page/types.h, so that C sources can include page_pool.h and headers should generally only include page_pool/types.h as suggested by jakub. 2023-08-02wifi: mt76: Replace strlcpy() with strscpy()Azeem Shaikh
strlcpy() reads the entire source buffer first. This read may exceed the destination size limit. This is both inefficient and can lead to linear read overflows if a source string is not NUL-terminated [1]. In an effort to remove strlcpy() completely [2], replace strlcpy() here with strscpy(). Direct replacement is safe here since DEV_ASSIGN is only used by TRACE macros and the return values are ignored. 2023-08-01wifi: drivers: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-07-31wifi: mt76: mt7915: fix power-limits while chan_switchRyder Lee
If user changes the channel without completely disabling the interface the txpower_sku values reported track the old channel the device was operating on. If user bounces the interface the correct power tables are applied. mt7915_sku_group_len array gets updated before the channel switch happens so it uses data from the old channel. 2023-07-26wifi: mt76: testmode: add nla_policy for MT76_TM_ATTR_TX_LENGTHLin Ma
It seems that the nla_policy in mt76_tm_policy is missed for attribute MT76_TM_ATTR_TX_LENGTH. This patch adds the correct description to make sure the u32 val = nla_get_u32(tb[MT76_TM_ATTR_TX_LENGTH]); in function mt76_testmode_cmd() is safe and will not result in out-of-attribute read.
