2023-08-18net: dsa: felix: fix oversize frame dropping for always closed tc-taprio gatesVladimir Oltean
The blamed commit resolved a bug where frames would still get stuck at egress, even though they're smaller than the maxSDU[tc], because the driver did not take into account the extra 33 ns that the queue system needs for scheduling the frame. It now takes that into account, but the arithmetic that we perform in vsc9959_tas_remaining_gate_len_ps() is buggy, because we operate on 64-bit unsigned integers, so gate_len_ns - VSC9959_TAS_MIN_GATE_LEN_NS may become a very large integer if gate_len_ns < 33 ns. In practice, this means that we've introduced a regression where all traffic class gates which are permanently closed will not get detected by the driver, and we won't enable oversize frame dropping for them. Unfortunately, a VM can run a different kernel than the host, meaning that those structures are sorta ABI. However, it is possible to have proper flex arrays + struct_size() calculations and still send the very same messages with the same sizes. The common rule is: elem[1] -> elem[] size = struct_size() + <difference between the old and the new msg size> The "old" size in the current code is calculated 3 different ways for 10 virtchnl structures total. Each commit addresses one of the ways cumulatively instead of per-structure. I was planning to send it to -net initially, but given that virtchnl was renamed from i40evf and got some fat style cleanup commits in the past, it's not very straightforward to even pick appropriate SHAs, not speaking of automatic portability. I may send manual backports for a couple of the latest supported kernels later on if anyone needs it at all. On s390 systems (aka mainframes), it has classic channel devices for networking and permanent storage that are currently even more common than PCI devices. Patch series "mm: ioremap: Convert architectures to take GENERIC_IOREMAP way", v8. Motivation and implementation: ============================== Currently, many architecutres have't taken the standard GENERIC_IOREMAP way to implement ioremap_prot(), iounmap(), and ioremap_xx(), but make these functions specifically under each arch's folder. Those cause many duplicated code of ioremap() and iounmap(). In this patchset, firstly introduce generic_ioremap_prot() and generic_iounmap() to extract the generic code for GENERIC_IOREMAP. By taking GENERIC_IOREMAP method, the generic generic_ioremap_prot(), generic_iounmap(), and their generic wrapper ioremap_prot(), ioremap() and iounmap() are all visible and available to arch. Arch needs to provide wrapper functions to override the generic version if there's arch specific handling in its corresponding ioremap_prot(), ioremap() or iounmap(). With these changes, duplicated ioremap/iounmap() code uder ARCH-es are removed, and the equivalent functioality is kept as before. 2023-08-17netconsole: Enable compile time configurationBreno Leitao
Enable netconsole features to be set at compilation time. Create two Kconfig options that allow users to set extended logs and release prepending features at compilation time. Right now, the user needs to pass command line parameters to netconsole, such as "+"/"r" to enable extended logs and version prepending features. With these two options, the user could set the default values for the features at compile time, and don't need to pass it in the command line to get them enabled, simplifying the command line. 2023-08-17ice: move E810T functions to before device agnostic onesJacob Keller
Commit 885fe6932a11 ("ice: Add support for SMA control multiplexer") accidentally placed all of the E810T SMA control functions in the middle of the device agnostic functions section of ice_ptp_hw.c This works fine, but makes it harder for readers to follow. The ice_ptp_hw.c file is laid out such that each hardware family has the specific functions in one block, with the access functions placed at the end of the file. Move the E810T functions so that they are in a block just after the E810 functions. Also move the ice_get_phy_tx_tstamp_ready_e810 which got added at the end of the E810T block. This keeps the functions laid out in a logical order and avoids intermixing the generic access functions with the device specific implementations. 2023-08-17qede: fix firmware halt over suspend and resumeManish Chopra
While performing certain power-off sequences, PCI drivers are called to suspend and resume their underlying devices through PCI PM (power management) interface. However this NIC hardware does not support PCI PM suspend/resume operations so system wide suspend/resume leads to bad MFW (management firmware) state which causes various follow-up errors in driver when communicating with the device/firmware afterwards. To fix this driver implements PCI PM suspend handler to indicate unsupported operation to the PCI subsystem explicitly, thus avoiding system to go into suspended/standby mode. Without this fix device/firmware does not recover unless system is power cycled. If the switch is reset during active EEPROM transactions, as in just after an SoC reset after power up, the I2C bus transaction may be cut short leaving the EEPROM internal I2C state machine in the wrong state. When the switch is reset again, the bad state machine state may result in data being read from the wrong memory location causing the switch to enter unexpected mode rendering it inoperational. 2023-08-16net/mlx5e: XDP, Fix fifo overrun on XDP_REDIRECTDragos Tatulea
Before this fix, running high rate traffic through XDP_REDIRECT with multibuf could overrun the fifo used to release the xdp frames after tx completion. This resulted in corrupted data being consumed on the free side. The culplirt was a miscalculation of the fifo size: the maximum ratio between fifo entries / data segments was incorrect. This ratio serves to calculate the max fifo size for a full sq where each packet uses the worst case number of entries in the fifo. This patch fixes the formula and names the constant. It also makes sure that future values will use a power of 2 number of entries for the fifo mask to work. For &virtchnl_vlan_filter_list_v2, use the same approach when there are no enough space as taken previously for &virtchnl_vlan_filter_list, i.e. let the maximum size be calculated automatically instead of trying to guestimate it using maths. 2023-08-16virtchnl: fix fake 1-elem arrays in structures allocated as `nents + 1`Alexander Lobakin
There are five virtchnl structures, which are allocated and checked in the code as `nents + 1`, meaning that they always have memory for one excessive element regardless of their actual number. This comes from that their sizeof() includes space for 1 element and then they get allocated via struct_size() or its open-coded equivalents, passing the actual number of elements. Expand virtchnl_struct_size() to handle such structures and replace those 1-elem arrays with proper flex ones. Also fix several places which open-code %IAVF_VIRTCHNL_VF_RESOURCE_SIZE. Finally, let the virtchnl_ether_addr_list size be computed automatically when there's no enough space for the whole list, otherwise we have to open-code reverse struct_size() logics. 2023-08-16virtchnl: fix fake 1-elem arrays in structs allocated as `nents + 1` - 1Alexander Lobakin
The two most problematic virtchnl structures are virtchnl_rss_key and virtchnl_rss_lut. Their "flex" arrays have the type of u8, thus, when allocating / checking, the actual size is calculated as `sizeof + nents - 1 byte`. But their sizeof() is not 1 byte larger than the size of such structure with proper flex array, it's two bytes larger due to the padding. That said, their size is always 1 byte larger unless there are no tail elements -- then it's +2 bytes. Add virtchnl_struct_size() macro which will handle this case (and later other cases as well). Make its calling conv the same as we call struct_size() to allow it to be drop-in, even though it's unlikely to become possible to switch to generic API. The macro will calculate a proper size of a structure with a flex array at the end, so that it becomes transparent for the compilers, but add the difference from the old values, so that the real size of sorta-ABI-messages doesn't change. Use it on the allocation side in IAVF and the receiving side (defined as static inline in virtchnl.h) for the mentioned two structures.
