2022-02-05net: typhoon: implement ndo_features_check methodEric Dumazet
Instead of disabling TSO at compile time if MAX_SKB_FRAGS > 32, implement ndo_features_check() method for this driver for a more dynamic handling. If skb has more than 32 frags and is a GSO packet, force software segmentation. Most locally generated packets will use a small number of fragments anyway. 2022-02-05net: sundance: Replace one-element array with non-array objectGustavo A. R. Silva
It seems this one-element array is not actually being used as an array of variable size, so we can just replace it with just a non-array object of type struct desc_frag and refactor a bit the rest of the code. This helps with the ongoing efforts to globally enable -Warray-bounds and get us closer to being able to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy(). This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle and audited and fixed, manually. 2022-02-05bnx2x: Replace one-element array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva
There is a regular need in the kernel to provide a way to declare having a dynamically sized set of trailing elements in a structure. Kernel code should always use “flexible array members”[1] for these cases. The older style of one-element or zero-length arrays should no longer be used[2]. This helps with the ongoing efforts to globally enable -Warray-bounds and get us closer to being able to tighten the FORTIFY_SOURCE routines on memcpy(). The callback allows to enable/disable multicast snooping. When the snooping is enabled, all IGMP and MLD frames are redirected to the CPU, therefore make sure not to set the skb flag 'offload_fwd_mark'. The HW will not flood multicast ipv4/ipv6 data frames. When the snooping is disabled, the HW will flood IGMP, MLD and multicast ipv4/ipv6 frames according to the mcast_flood flag. 2022-02-04net: ipa: determine replenish doorbell differentlyAlex Elder
Rather than tracking the number of receive buffer transactions that have been submitted without a doorbell, just track the total number of transactions that have been issued. Then ring the doorbell when that number modulo the replenish batch size is 0. The effect is roughly the same, but the new count is slightly more interesting, and this approach will someday allow the replenish batch size to be tuned at runtime. Replenishing is now solely driven by whether transactions are available for a channel, and it doesn't really matter whether we replenish before or after we deliver received packets to the network stack. Replenishing before delivering the payload adds a little latency. Eliminate that by requesting a replenish after the payload is delivered. We no longer use the replenish_backlog atomic variable to decide when we've got work to do providing receive buffers to hardware. Basically, we try to keep the hardware as full as possible, all the time. We keep supplying buffers until the hardware has no more space for them. 2022-02-04net: ipa: allocate transaction in replenish loopAlex Elder
When replenishing, have ipa_endpoint_replenish() allocate a transaction, and pass that to ipa_endpoint_replenish_one() to fill. Then, if that produces no error, commit the transaction within the replenish loop as well. In this way we can distinguish between transaction failures and buffer allocation/mapping failures. Failure to allocate a transaction simply means the hardware already has as many receive buffers as it can hold. In that case we can break out of the replenish loop because there's nothing more to do. A transaction failure only occurs if no more transactions are available for an endpoint. It's a very cheap test. When replenishing an RX endpoint buffer, there's no point in allocating pages if transactions are exhausted. So don't bother doing so unless the transaction allocation succeeds. The replenish_saved field keeps track of the number of times a new buffer is added to the backlog when replenishing is disabled. We don't really use it though, so there's no need for us to track it separately. Whether replenishing is enabled or not, we can simply increment the backlog. Change functions: - i40e_aq_add_macvlan - i40e_aq_remove_macvlan - i40e_aq_delete_element - i40e_aq_add_vsi - i40e_aq_update_vsi_params to explicitly use i40e_asq_send_command_atomic(..., true) instead of i40e_asq_send_command, as they use mutexes and do some work in an atomic context. Without this change setting vlan via netdev will fail with call trace cased by bug "BUG: scheduling while atomic". After commit 1a557afc4dd5 ("i40e: Refactor receive routine"), rx_stats.realloc_count is no longer being incremented, so remove it. The debugfs string was left, but hardcoded to 0. 2022-02-03net: ipa: request IPA register values be retainedAlex Elder
In some cases, the IPA hardware needs to request the always-on subsystem (AOSS) to coordinate with the IPA microcontroller to retain IPA register values at power collapse. This is done by issuing a QMP request to the AOSS microcontroller. A similar request ondoes that request. We must get and hold the "QMP" handle early, because we might get back EPROBE_DEFER for that. But the actual request should be sent while we know the IPA clock is active, and when we know the microcontroller is operational. 2022-02-03net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: improve 88e6352 serdes statistics detectionRussell King (Oracle)
The decision whether to report serdes statistics currently depends on the cached C_Mode value for the port, read at probe time or updated by configuration. However, port 4 can be in "automedia" mode when it is used as a serdes port, meaning it switches between the internal PHY and the serdes, changing the read-only C_Mode value depending on which first gains link. Consequently, the C_Mode value read at probe does not accurately reflect whether the port has the serdes associated with it. In "net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: add mv88e6352_g2_scratch_port_has_serdes()", we added a way to read the hardware configuration to determine which port has the serdes associated with it. Use this to determine which port reports the serdes statistics. 2022-02-03net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: Improve multichip isolation of standalone portsTobias Waldekranz
Given that standalone ports are now configured to bypass the ATU and forward all frames towards the upstream port, extend the ATU bypass to multichip systems. Load VID 0 (standalone) into the VTU with the policy bit set. Since VID 4095 (bridged) is already loaded, we now know that all VIDs in use are always available in all VTUs. Therefore, we can safely enable 802.1Q on DSA ports. Setting the DSA ports' VTU policy to TRAP means that all incoming frames on VID 0 will be classified as MGMT - as a result, the ATU is bypassed on all subsequent switches. With this isolation in place, we are able to support configurations that are simultaneously very quirky and very useful. Quirky because it involves looping cables between local switchports like in this example: CPU | .------. .---0---. | .----0----. | sw0 | | | sw1 | '-1-2-3-' | '-1-2-3-4-' $ @ '---' $ @ % % We have three physically looped pairs ($, @, and %). This is very useful because it allows us to run the kernel's kselftests for the bridge on mv88e6xxx hardware. A VTU entry with policy enabled is used in combination with a port's VTU policy setting to override normal switching behavior for frames assigned to the entry's VID. A typical example is to Treat all frames in a particular VLAN as control traffic, and trap them to the CPU. In which case the relevant user port's VTU policy would be set to TRAP. Clear MapDA on standalone ports to bypass any ATU lookup that might point the packet in the wrong direction. This means that all packets are flooded using the PVT config. So make sure that standalone ports are only allowed to communicate with the local upstream port. Here is a scenario in which this is needed: CPU | .----. .---0---. | .--0--. | sw0 | | | sw1 | '-1-2-3-' | '-1-2-' '---' - sw0p1 and sw1p1 are bridged - sw0p2 and sw1p2 are in standalone mode - Learning must be enabled on sw0p3 in order for hardware forwarding to work properly between bridged ports 1. A packet with SA :aa comes in on sw1p2 1a. Egresses sw1p0 1b. Ingresses sw0p3, ATU adds an entry for :aa towards port 3 1c. Egresses sw0p0 2. A packet with DA :aa comes in on sw0p2 2a. If an ATU lookup is done at this point, the packet will be incorrectly forwarded towards sw0p3. With this change in place, the ATU is bypassed and the packet is forwarded in accordance with the PVT, which only contains the CPU port. Populate the supported interfaces and MAC capabilities for the xrs700x family of DSA switches and remove the old validate implementation to allow DSA to use phylink_generic_validate() for this switch driver. According to commit ee00b24f32eb ("net: dsa: add Arrow SpeedChips XRS700x driver") the switch supports one RMII port and up to three RGMII ports. This commit assumes that port 0 is the RMII port and the remainder are RGMII. This commit also results in the Autoneg bit being set in the ethtool link modes, which wasn't in the original; if this switch supports RGMII to a 10/100/1G PHY, then surely we want to allow Autoneg on the PHY. Populate the supported interfaces and MAC capabilities for the QCA8K DSA switch and remove the old validate implementation to allow DSA to use phylink_generic_validate() for this switch driver. In making this change, we bring consistency to the ethtool linkmodes that phylink's validate step produces, thereby following the expected behaviour as the phylink documentation has explained. Specifically, the ethtool 1000baseX_Full capability is now permitted for all interface modes, as it is a property of the PHY driver whether 1000baseX fiber connections can be supported.
