2023-10-10pinctrl: mcp23s08: Simplify probe()/mcp23s08_spi_regmap_init()Biju Das
Add struct mcp23s08_info and simplify probe()/mcp23s08_spi_regmap_init() by replacing match data 'type' with 'struct mcp23s08_info'. While at it, replace 'dev_err()'->'dev_err_probe()' and drop printing 'type' in error path for i2c_get_match_data(). 2023-10-10pinctrl: mcp23s08_i2c: Extend match support for OF tablesBiju Das
The driver has OF match table, still it uses ID lookup table for retrieving match data. Currently the driver is working on the assumption that a I2C device registered via OF will always match a legacy I2C device ID. The correct approach is to have an OF device ID table using of_device_match_data() if the devices are registered via OF. 2023-05-29pinctrl: Switch i2c drivers back to use .probe()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new() call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then 03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from struct i2c_driver. 2023-01-10pinctrl: mcp23s08: Convert to i2c's .probe_new()Uwe Kleine-König
.probe_new() doesn't get the i2c_device_id * parameter, so determine that explicitly in the probe function.
